  1. I am more hopeful that Martinez will, in time find players who can adapt to his methods, because if done correctly, is a great way to play.

Don't get me wrong I do think you need to mix it up a bit but you can't tell me that plan (A) doesn't work 99% of the time. Look at Barcelona, they have never changed there style of play and only a handful of teams have sussed them out.

I firmly believe that if Martinez takes a more foreign approach on our squad he will get what he's looking for. We can forever say that the likes of Jags, Coleman, McCarthy, Distin....are all good players but these ate good British styled players. They do not have it in there locker whereby when they are cornered in a tight spot on the pitch, guard the ball and have the brains to play a short pass.

This cannot be taught. It's ok to do it on the training pitch where there is nothing to lose but when there is 40,000 screaming at you when you get in these positions, it takes mental strength and your own confidence to get you out. Only certain player have this.

Yeah but teams have seemed to have sussed it though. We don't have Barcelona players. When we play a team if they put pressure on us we will crumble, we just need a bit of tempo added into the game but again this is Martinez way because he likes patient style passing and trying to find an opening.

  2. I'm not sure about this game. Everyone wants to win the FA cup but with our league form being as it is then I don't know whether I would want us to play our best players and risk them getting injured or rest our best players for the City game.

  3. Only one's I'd realistically want from that list is:

    Moyes, Laudrup, Klopp

The rest are unlikely to want the job and Ferguson would not be suited to a relegation battle - too risky

Damn, why didn't we go for Tony Pulis when we had the chance! FFS!

Seriously though, if we got Moyes back (we won't, but I'm going along with it) then after a season people will be moaning, playing defensive football, not attractive blah blah blah.

We are playing a different style football, can be frustrating at times but I believe in Martinez, I just think we need another CB and a bit more tempo.

  4. We haven't played bad under Martinez. Recent games we have, not going to lie. We haven't managed to test the opposition. Other games though we have played well and either drawn or lost. We have been unlucky but I do believe in Martinez. He said himself in a news conference that the players aren't enjoying the way we are playing at the moment but it is his job to get them motivated again. We won't get relegated.

  5. Mine comes out of frustration as well. I still believe in our manager and the team but it makes me angry when we get it so wrong against the likes of Newcastle, Hull, Stoke etc when we have a better team than them! But I will continue to back our manager and the team and cheer them on each week! :)

  6. I think some of the decisions Martinez has made this season have been questionable. The fact of the matter is that we aren't actually playing bad, the only teams that have scored more goals are the top 6 at the moment. Even Liverpool have only scored 22 goals compared to our 29. The problem is our defence is falling apart. We have made more defensive errors than any other team this season.

  7. What a rubbish performance. The players don't seem up for it at the moment. We were missing key players, played others out of position because of injuries etc.

Joel - Was fault for the second goal + McGeady. Everyone is on Howard's back saying what a cr@p goalkeeper he is but the difference being that Howard would have been on his line and saved the second. Joel was out of position and by the time he realised the ball went into the back of the net. Don't get me wrong, he has passion, you could hear him scream at our defence yesterday for their errors. Which you need in a goal keeper but second was down to him and McGeady.

McGeady - Was at fault for two of the goals. We were on the attack he lost the ball they are on the counter and then they get corners which in the end score. 2nd goal he tried to much in our own half, when he should have just passed it out wide to another player or even hoofed it. Anything but try and get past players and get tackled.

Martinez - I do like Martinez and will continue to back our manager but the substitutions yesterday were a bit weird. If McCarthy was injured then why not put Besic on instead? Also Eto'o clearly lost his head in that game and was getting frustrated. Why not put Lukaku on for him? Kone had a good game and looked more likely to score than Eto'o. I don't know what Martinez is hoping for with the Lukaku and Eto'o partnership but it isn't working.

It doesn't matter if Cisse did get sent off I still believe that Newcastle would have won it anyway. They looked more dangerous on the attack than we did and looked more likely to score. Plus teams sometimes play better with 10 men because they have more to play for.

Overall we looked like a team that has lost it's way. Bring back Stones + Jags partnership. Next game Hull Away, COYB!

  8. I don't think Atsu is a bad player but he isn't a great player either. He isn't the sort of player that can change a game but he does have pace and an okay touch and isn't bad at passing. He is weak at taking on defenders, tracking back and defending and he isn't strong either and can't hold the ball up. Hopefully we will cancel the loan in January and make another two loans as well. :)
