  1. The pitch is only used by the first team, its a pitch in January, not at its best, but its fine, I think a few people are picking up on the comment by Neville and using it as an excuse.

One think I noticed when we had Lukaku, because he is such a presence there can be a tendency to overplay to him regardless, our results with him second half of last season were not great, love the guy though!

  2. We play Spurs only a few weeks ago and we drew with them as well, the pitch was not bad at all, its a pitch in winter, you played as well as we let you, get over yourself Tricky Trev.

  3. Wow, some very over the top views there. (some realistic ones as well).

May be you were due a reality check, Lukaku has given you the goals to get you to the fringes of the Champions League places (is a £5million loan fee really a long term viability), much as he assisted us in our highest finish for years, a club of your size will always struggle to make the Champions League places, its just about the money and frankly, you don't have it, you don't have a wealthy fairy godmother like Chelsea or man City or the backing of Manure or Arsenal, even Liverpool and Tottenham have a massive financial advantage.

You have a very good team, but the lack of strength in depth will always be your Achilles heel, squad depth costs more than you have, we prevented you from playing your A game last night, don't become like some of the big 4 arseholes and think you will steam roller every team in the league.

Enjoy your team, they are enjoyable to watch, you will have great results, but you will have poor days as well, I think Champions League is beyond your financial capabilities and unfortunately, its all about the money.

    regards

  4. Hi Evertonians, well I'm pleased with a point, you have a fine side this season, you will do well, not top 4 maybe but top 6 I hope.

Thought we could have won the game at the end, but overall, a draw was fair so honours even this season.

Lukaku had games like that for us as well!

Best of luck for the rest of the season, hopefully we will be around to play you next term.

    regards Zolton

  5. Hi Guys,

Not been on here for while, I gave an opinion on Lukaku that he was not the finished article, but was a great guy and you would love him, seems to have been about right!

Anyway, tomorrows game, well you are rightly favourites, I'm hoping we can get at least a draw but to be honest, after getting rid of the dour Clarke, we have little idea on what team or tactics we will use, I expect us to at least try to pass the ball, which will be a pleasant change.

Whatever the outcome, good luck for the rest of the season, Everton are probably my favourite team after the Baggies, don't know why, maybe because of 68, by the way, its the 12 anniversary of Jeff Astles death today if that is any sort of omen.

  6. If he doesn't like West Ham then it it's good enough here. Thought Wolverhampton would be your real rivals but realize Aston Villa is only just a few blocks from The Hawthorns. Been to West Bromwich a few times, there is a decent retail park there and it's an interesting ride on the monorail from Snow Hill Birmingham.

Villa were our rivals from the 80's, recently rekindled, I remember praying you would beat them in that epic cup battle over three games was it?

West Bromwich is a dump, not many fans actually live there, most come from surrounding areas. I live 150 miles away!

  7.

Welcome Zolton! I've been on your site too (I ran the Talking To The Enemy article). Good to see you've moved onto here too! :).

Yes I remember that, be interesting when we meet at the Hawthorns later in the season and Lukaku runs riot against our sluggish defence, but that's for another day!

  8. To be fair on Lukaku, if he was given a choice he would have picked WBA. I think we were willing to pay more on the transfer fee and that's why we got him. Lukaku wanted to go back to WBA as he scored 17 goals in 20 starts, that is some record. He is probably a little bit nervous about how it will turn out, will he score goals or will he be another Jelavic - good first season then rubbish the next..

I think that is spot on despite the later quote, I would not worry about it though, one thing you will love is his total professionalism and single mindedness, he just wants to get better, puts many older pros to shame. As I have said before, you will love him and always give him a good reception in years to come.

  9. ooh this one's a suck up....i love it :P

Nah, I just really dislike Liverpool (always the victims), Man Utd (for their glory hunting fans), Villa (obviously) and West Ham (don't like bubbles), most other clubs I can tolerate.

  10. Yes indeed Zolton, we did chat, glad you could make it. Now the window is closed for a few months normal service will be resumed. Lots of in fighting and brown nosing and being snide and stuff like that. But enough about me LOL

Normal for message board to get a bit fractious, show me one that doesn't and I'll show you a Liverpool fan with class and realism.

  11. Hey Zoltan good to see you in here young man (in comparison to MikeO and Bill anyway)

Hi Rubecula, I believe we conversed on West Brom.com a while ago, age is just a number (mostly the number of aches and pains you get past 50), nice site you have here, very decent posters, well done!

  12.

The thing about a guy like Lukaku is that he is similar to Fellaini. Even when he's having a shit game the simple fact that he exists creates problems for the opposition. He eats up a ton of space and you have to watch him at all times. That creates room for others. Even when he's not producing it will be an upgrade over the irrelevance of Kone/Jelavic so far this season.

Very true, his presence is huge.

  13. Hi Everton fans, 52 year old long term West Brom fan but I did not go to the 68 cup final, not quite long enough.

Best wishes for the season, I shall pop back to see how Lukaku is getting on and let you know how Vic is doing.

Oh and please stuff Liverpool when you play them, classless horrible club.

  14. Hmm, not great then, I believe its £3million rising to £5millioin on appearances and add ons, maybe a change of scene will do him good, hopefully!

Lukaku is at his best on the counter attack, not always as good in a crowded area as his first touch can be a bit dodgy, you will love watching him though, I really enjoyed his time with us, I imagine you paid a fair bit to get him, probably more than the £4million wages and fee quoted.

  15. First post from a West Brom fan here, well done on signing Lukaku, as you know, you have just signed a beast of a player, but he is also a really good bloke, very respectful and genuine, you will be as impressed with his attitude as his ability, wish we could have got him back.

What are your opinions on Victor Anichebe, obviously he is not that prolific but will he come good with a change of scene, what are his injury issues?
