  1. Crewe boss Dario Gradi expects to field offers for teenage midfielder Billy Jones this summer. Everton are chasing the 19 year-old and Gradi said: "I don't know if there's any truth to the rumours. "But if they've got any sense they'll all be looking at him." source: http://www.tribalfootball.com/april/englsnews2250406.html
  2. Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock is ready to trump his new Premiership rivals in landing Cardiff City striker Cameron Jerome. The Blades boss failed with a ?.5m bid for the 19-year-old star in the January transfer window. But now the Bluebirds have admitted defeat in their battle to keep Jerome. They are now prepared to sell the 20-goal hotshot to cut debts as they attempt to move into a new stadium. Everton, Charlton and Fulham have all watched Jerome but Premiership-bound Blades are the only ones to make a firm bid. The ex-Middlesbrough trainee also came close to joining Norwich in January but now looks certain to complete a dream move to the top-flight. Quoted from http://www.tribalfootball.com/april/englinews2250406.html WHY HAVN'T WE MADE A BID?? IF WE CAN'T HAVE HIM, I HOPE HE WILL NOT BE THE NEXT DARREN BENT OR ASHTON.
  3. Back Four:- 1. Would love Ferari to stay and partner w/Yobo. The backline 4 is : Hibbert, Yobo, Ferari and Valentine (That's a very strong side) 2. If Pistone and Naysmith are so shaky, why not try Laurence Wilson (19 yrs old) 3. Don't sure of we should buy back MeEveley of Blackburn (now on laon to Ipswich). He is CB, young, tall, with premiership experiecne and not expensive. Midfield:- 1. I would have: Arteta, Cahill, Neville and VDM 2. Anderson is back from Spain, it would be a fresh face 3. I would give Simon Davies a last chance. If he can't did it (like Beattie did it at last), let go next January. 4. In fact, Mcfadden is better used as a winger on the wide. But as a Midfielder, he should try to pass more and do more one-two with his partners. 5. McFadden, Osman plus Carsley and Vidarsson would form the subsitutes. Reasonable quality and thus my priority on spending of the fund would go to the Forward. 6. I don't mind Pennant to join. Forward:- 1. Beattie is okay but he di lack a pacy and agile partner. 2. If $6M will get Bellamy, just go for him. 3. AJ Vs Bellamy, the later has proven record on the Premiership, but bad temper. Hm......, I think I take risk on Bell la. Talents could sometimes be difficult to manage, but a top manager should know how to work with talents. I trust Moyes has the ability. 4. Having said that, AJ is also good. 5. Anyway, if we get either Bell, AJ or CJ, I would be most staisfied. Summary: Our lack of pace is the main cause of our not very successful season. It pushed the oppoenets back 4 up and we then lose on the midfield and our rather solid back 4 cannot withstand waves of attack. I think the back 4 is the best asset of our club atm.
  4. Its delighted that we try to unearth talents at their early ages. I mean even if this spencer turn out did not develop into a decent player, there is not much harm ---- becasue of the cheap price. For 5 if 1 come really good, it worths.
  5. I always think that while we lacks the cash to buy big we should rather test more on our youths to see which of them can cut the mustard. I hope Vaugham would be fit next season. I sees Anichebe as a possible solution over the lack of pace upfront. I agree that our youths should deserve more chances as substitutes from the bench, than the likes of Kilbane (he is awful in Chelsea's game today), Simon Davies (he cannot convince me of the 3.5M we payed) and Fergusson as well (he has really lost the magic, he should retire now). Yes, Moyes has not been so smart in his transfer policy, I agree (examples, Kroudrup, Davies and missed out on Ashton (last season) and Bellamy (this season)). I would prefer he try more on our own youths and cheap buys from the lower leagues. Hope we could improve on next season. I am really a bit woried after watching the Spurs and Chelsea games.
  6. Funny! Source: http://www.Everton.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=14777 Content: The 29 year old Real Mardrid striker, has had 'positive' talks with the Merseyside club and will join the Blues initially on loan for the duration of the 2006-07 season. A fee of £5million has been agreed with the Bernabeu giants to be paid at any time that Everton feel they want the former PSV and Barcelona player to join them permanently. Ronaldo has been struggling with injury and form this season and is almost certain to leave La Liga at the end of the season. Everton manager David Moyes has spoken with representatives for the player and Madrid officials and has thrashed out a deal to bring the legendary player to Goodison. Wages will be paid half by Everton and half by Madrid until a permanent deal is struck. This is a fantastic signing and will help James Beattie up front next season to make Everton a force once again.
  7. First of all, we should still continue with our strategy of building a young squad by talented youth. Hence, Faddy was a good addition (despite it did take him some time to show us what he could do). As a supporter, I don't mind being patient and wait for several years for talented younsters to mature. As seen from the derby, LB is the main source of leakage. We should buy a class LB. I rate Valente but he is at 31. Naysmith/Pistone are not quite up to that standard. Of course, the priority should be a pacy striker. I think, to certain extent, I miss Bellamy. But I miss Robbie Keane more. AJ would be good if not so expensive ($7M). No good strikers are out there in the relegation candidates trio. I would prefer we try out player from lower leagues (cheap and low risk) rather than chaing for "Big Names". There are indeed some gems (e.g. Cahill, Ashton, Darren Bent, etc.) out there. As a club not very financially sound, I think more research on lower league players should be done. I rate West Ham's youth system. Many big names are produced thru their pipelines: Ferdinand brothers, Lampard, Carrick. Perhaps they have their strength in picking up gems from rocks. Shall we consider their "products" either?
  8. Indeed, a LEGEND Trembling and stunning A salute to him. Wish him the winning goal in the last game he versus the redshite, which should be the best ending of the swan song.
  9. Marseille defender Abdoulaye Meite is ready to take his time over a move to the Premiership. Bolton, Everton, Newcastle and Middlesbrough are all chasing Meite and he told skysports.com: "I am not taking a decision in a hurry. "I have a concrete proposition from a third Premiership club, who is struggling right now. "I want to leave Marseille, I will be in the Premier League, however I am not going to a club just to go. "I need to make the right choice, I give myself until January 31 to make a decision." http://www.tribalfootball.com/january/englhnews5190106.html Anyway, no idea about how this player is playing!!
  10. Just seen this, share w/all. http://1878club.com/forum/showthread.php?p=18909#post18909 Hope it do happen!
  11. IMO, worth a go, for short term. When Valente recovers, and if do join us, then our midfiled can become: VDM, Neville, Keane, Cahill, Arteta If we are to play 4-5-1, with Cahill assisting the single forward. Keane can help also in attacking. Neville could concentarate more in defending, fighting for loose balls, etc. We do miss a leader like Grave. Keane has the character and ability to fill this void.
  12. I agree that it's the time to try out on out youth. Other teams also bring in young players at the age of 18-20. Why not give ours a try before the transfer windows re-opens in January? Shall we just loan out more of them in lower leagues for better preparation? Btw, I think Osman plays okay that day. At least he is the only midfielder that day who can put in a decent straight passs which cut deep into the "right" penalty area for our forwards.
