Over on the Liverpool forums, none of us Kopites have even hardly given next month's Derby match a second mention.

Yet on here, you are all acting as if it is some sort of major cup final or something

Everton & Liverpool match eachother point for point until the end of the season Liverpool will finish 6 points clear of the Blues regardless of league positions. However if Everton beat Liverpool in both Derbys (I said IF by the way not WHEN as i am a realist) then goal difference will be the decider between us! Now that could go either way with Crouch & Morientes up front.

So Everton who by your estimations are a poor team will not only finish level with local rivals Liverpool but will also by your estimations be as good as the current reigning European champions.

So dont shout too loud and we will speak again in May if you have the ollys for that little discussion!

Hey last year we won the merseyside cup (it is a region in the north west of england Kato).

Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea all won trophies in style. Liverpool finish 5th in the league and only came back in the CL final due to the the guts and determination of Gerrard (an Evertonian). What else have you won?

Heysal happened and theres no getting away from that and it was unfortunate that it did - Everton have had many more opportunities since then to try and qualify for the competition and win the European cup, but have not done that - so please explain that one?

Simple, we had no money with which to mount any kind of challenge while the team over the park who murdered 39 italians splashed the cash and signed up Robbie Fowler, Micheal Owen, Stephen Gerrard & Steve Mcmannaman. All Evertonians wh would have played for us had we had the money to give them a decent academy to train at while they where still young.

...and the rules state that any side that finishes in the top 4 qualify's.

 

Liverpool did not finish in the top 4 last season, we finished 5th - but won the trophy itself, so were the holders of the trophy not suppossed to be in the competition.?

I guess you could argue no coz the rules stated..."Top 4"

But then we open up a whole new debate in that it would have made UEFA look stupid to not have the winners of their trophy in the competition.

At the end of the day..it was then up to them what they were to do when faced with a situation like that.

Yes last season when you won it you by your own admission were the 5th best team in England. This season while reigning champions you are currently the 12th (dont know if thats rite but u get the point) best team in the England.

 

How does that equate to best team in europe? and if your going to just say "because we won the champoins league" than go back to watching the Tweenies on telly!

As for Man U...forgive if ive misunderstood you here, but Man Utd won the English league in 1999 thus making them Champions of England and Champions of Europe when they went on to win the Champions league that year

I never said the greatest club side of the decade, i said "arguably the best club side in Europe" meaning the season we were banned!!

Simple as, had we qualified for Europe with our league win then things would have been very different. Instead we lost the majority of our team as we had nothing to offer them!

and even if you hadnt have been banned, there was guarantee that Everton would have went on to win the European cup anyway.

The team that wins the European cup is the best team in Europe, simple as that - its a plain simple fact and what part of that fact can Evertonians simply not understand 

 

That principle would also apply to Everton as well as any other team, if you qualify for the biggest football competition in Europe and you go onto win that competition, then you are the best team in Europe...i fail to see what cant be more clearer about that
