In the U.S. sometimes important games are called "must win." Dumbass American sports announcers will declare "must win" games two or three weeks into the season. Cause they are dumbasses. But as a maybe dumbass American, I sort of think this is "must win" game for Everton if it has any ambition for the top 4. Enough points have been dropped. Good players play for this team and some of them haven't lived up to their quality. Time to show that quality.

Very true. Our possession goes side to side then back and then side to side. I think they need to be a bit more direct in their approach because teams are just sitting back and not feeling threatened.

This is a very frustrating team. They've dominated possession in the last two PL games but haven't scored in the run of play. Something just isn't working in the final 3rd. Lacking creativity to break through (though Eto'o's pass was fantastic). I agree with what has been said above...this is a near top of the table team that is drastically underperforming. Sure injuries have hurt, but injuries don't excuse giving up late goals against LC and Arsenal. Injuries don't excuse Howard's mindboggling decisions that led to goals from Crystal Palace and Sunderland. I suppose I have to hope that we find our form--there are 27 games and a transfer window to go.

This will be the first game I've missed on TV this season. Simply can't get off of work in time to watch and can't stand to record it because I'd have to stay off the internet for 4 or 5 hours. When we make the knock out round of the Europa League, I'll take half a day off but can't stand to burn some leave this time. I trust that everyone will keep me updated via twitter!

I think Everton needs to start its strongest side here. A win almost ensures passage and even though Sunderland was better last weekend, they should be able to handle them over the weekend. This is the game to win of the remaining 3!

Fair point. Everton dominated the game--I think the stats said 67% possession and Swansea had very few positive opportunities. Obviously all of us would have liked to see an Everton goal or two, but there are a few positives that can be taken away. The defense was good, Howard wasn't even tested (he could have taken a nap for long periods), and they controlled the ball. They were unlucky not to score. Sometimes that happens. (Though I don't want to take them off the hook too much. They should have won the game)

Agree. And given how well Swansea was defending and how poor the attack was during the run of play, the best opportunities were on set pieces. And they didn't even test the keeper once with 11 or so corners and at least 2 dangerous free kicks just outside the box.

Looked to me like Swansea was playing for a draw from the opening whistle.

Bring Lukaku on with about 30 minutes left and I think he'll be able to break through. Swansea has to be tired on defense most of the half.

Good energy and pressure so far...haven't had a great opportunity yet but the possession is good.

I liked our finishing lineup today--Barkely right behind Eto'o. Start those guys together and I think they'll make some things happen. Maybe bring in Lukaku off the bench for 30 minutes. Form is mostly improving overall, hope to keep it going next weekend.
