Apparently Dendoncker has been lined up to replace Fabinho at Monaco.

We should not sign another DM. With too many DMs on the books, Koeman will be tempted to play two at the same time. I know that he plays Morgan and Gana but Gana is a more forward midfielder in my eyes. Gana presses higher up and Morgan cleans upp behind him. All while Gylfi will supply the forwards. Will be solid with plenty of good backup already on the books.

Morgan out with a red card is exactly the sort of scenario I was talking about. No back 3 or 4 shielding, deep lying playmaker to step in and replace. Would definitely have Dendoncker, and move on McCarthy.

Barry's Gone, McCarthy will/should go. Besic is a more like for like swap for the Gueye CM position (or CB apparently), or a 3rd back up at DCM.

This kid would be a very good #2 to Schneiderlin, sweeping and starting from the back. Only 22.

Nice to see his list of needs and that he is confident in getting all three by the end of the month.

I don't really see Gylfi fitting any of those "needs" that he described... I know he can play out wider, but he's hardly a "winger". Still don't see him being dynamic enough for what we need up front.

should we do well in Europe and the cups this season then we have a lot of games to play so it will be rotated a lot. Better to have too many midfielders than not enough, competition for places is healthy as well.

Definitely agree on Lemar. Happily spend 50m on him, a gun and only 21. Would slot perfectly in as one of the interchangeable front 3, as opposed to a more traditional no 10.

Added bonus would be trumping Arsenal.

No chance, he's playing CL at Monaco why come here? Be realistic. The money is already spent on Pickford Sandro klaassen onyekuru and keane. Andre gray or the like will he signed as backup striker. Rooney played up top or in the front 3. That's it.

 

Yes, I agree that Lemar is not realistic (just hopeful). That said, Arsenal hope to sign Mbappe and they don't have champs either.

Phil McNulty claimed Lukaku leaving would prompt further "heavy re-investment" by Everton. That may just be a Giroud and Gray, but I hope not.

Still think Barkley is going, but Gylfi should replace him.

Is Mauro Icardi a possibility? Inter need to sell someone, they're only in Europa (think they are anyway), and he has an awkward relationship with the fans.

Otherwise Anthony Modeste? If we go for him, I'd hope we go for another 18/19 year old wonderkid striker as well.

We need further cover at fullback and I don't think we could ever stock up on enough quality forwards, especially if Lukaku is leaving. I still think this squad lacks a true playmaker/proper 10.

Agreed. Seems strange, given we've brought in 5 players (4 excluding lad loaned out), but I'd still like 4 more (I'm also assuming Lukaku and Barkley are gone). Think we need a high end no. 10, quality young LB to take over from Baines, another ST/Winger (preferably can play both), and a quality young (22 or less) CDM who can back up/fill in (and ultimately challenge) for Morgan.

Hakan Calhanoglu has gone to Milan, they're building themselves quite a squad. Reckon we missed a trick on that one.

Yeah, agree. Should be plenty of games this year though, with Europa. It'll throw a new challenge his way as well, push him to improve. Could argue that Barkley didn't have enough of that.

i thought the exact same shukes. also depay left when he was young, this lad seems more grounded, stayed a while. only hitch i have with it is he sounds exactly the same as Davies, and i'd rather play the young lad.

Agree with the Davies competition, don't think it's such a bad thing if the 18 year old future star is pushed to the bench by it.

A glaring weakness is on the left. Mirallas has been inconsistent for too long.

If Lukaku's gone (Barkley as well), Sandro likely to be central (where he played for Malaga). Then bring Brahimi (or Keita Balde) in for the left and Bertrand Traore for the right, then we'd be pretty dangerous up front. If we can't replace Lukaku with a Batshuayi, Modeste, or Kalinic type, I'd be pretty happy with the first scenario above. Only improvement would be adding Mahrez as well (dreaming big)
