  1. Biggest let down for me is the Sopranos finale - David Chase got a little to carried away with himself. That along with the dream episodes were a complete waste of time and self iundulgent nonsense - maybe i'm just not into the "art".

However, one of the single best eposodes of any series i've seen is "pine barrens" - directed by Steve Buscemi. Its worth watching time and time again for the dialogue between Chrissy and Paulie. Sopranos at its best for me.

Sopranos is still the best tv series I've ever watched by quite a long way. Was gutted when Gandolfini died because like you, I wasn't thrilled with the ending and would've loved to see a film or additional episodes to wrap it all up properly.

A couple of years ago I watched every episode from start to finish in less than 3 weeks. Was like a full time job but loved every minute of it, will never be another tv series as good as that IMO.

  2.

Watched the 1st season, thought it was very good. Some questionable accents like!

Deserved much better than getting panned by the BBC. Waiting for season 2 to appear on Netflix.

Loved both series. Was reading the other day that they have finished filming season 3, so hopefully be out in a few months with any luck.

  3.

agreed i love that show. great actors and clever writing. hoping for a new season but those guys are so busy not sure if they have time hence the one off episode.

Yeah they are both in high demand so not expecting a new season any time soon unfortunately. For all the rubbish the BBC throw money at, they should be writing a blank cheque to all involved in Sherlock as it's the best thing they produce by a country mile.

  4.

I thought it was one of the weaker episodes when compared to the previous seasons, but still enjoyed it. Loved the twist.

Yeah I would probably agree with that. The problem they have is that they have set such a high standard that it's going to be very difficult to keep producing future episodes that are as good as what has come before.

  5. Like a few of you I have also been suffering with the Sky broadband, and am moving flat soon so will be able to get the previous unavailable fibre optic (up to 80mbps one, Virgin super fast is not available however).

I was wondering if anyone who has this type of fibre optic, seems to be the top offering of Sky/BT/PlusNet etc, could tell me if like Mike has said, they will always be able to provide the minimum of 68mbps? Or is this on a case by case basis?

I don't want to buy in to the top package and then be stuck with a crap sub 10mbps speed after it's all been installed. Having had to put up with a average of 2.5mbps at my old flat with Sky's normal 'broadband', the prospect of 68mbps seems almost too good to be true!

  6. Many believe it does, and it certainly does no harm.

That's the saddest part about the whole religious praying thing for me, amazes me that people still genuinely believe it can be real in the amazing age of science we are in now, and the understanding of the universe and evolution that we have.

Praying as a means of reflecting on what they do, how they can be better, how others may feel - it can only be a good thing. It can focus a person in to be less selfish, more compassionate.

To quote Martin Luther King:- "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that"

So many amazing acts of humanity have come out of this tragedy.

I agree with everything you said in your first sentence 100%. Self reflection and thinking about others more are great things, I just don't really associate those things with prayer. To me prayer has religious connotations, and anything that promotes any religion in any way doesn't sit well with me, especially on that scale.

  7. Thanks a lot for the welcome lads.

welcome, are you still in england or abroad?

Still in England but based down south now, but often have to travel abroad for work too which is a pain.

  8. In the aftermath of all this, the biggest thing that's getting to me, is the amount of uneducated idiots there are in the world.

So many people who don't either understand the situation at hand or ignore the facts that are there but not highlighted, using this as an opportunity to slander and use racist remarks, is mind blowing.

Disgusting behavior by some people of social media. My recent status highlighted this trend.

"If people put as much energy as they put into writing these statuses and updates, linking videos and sharing articles of "muslims", "terrorists" and all the other bad stories that have cropped up of late and actually did something about it, the world might be a better place. Continue to sit behind a screen and vent your rage and incredible anger at the very selective acts of violence carefully portrayed in the media and continue to do naff all about it. If you truly want to make a difference, cancel your table at Nando's, swap your Nike's for boots and get yourself signed up to the army. Or alternatively, study politics become an MP and force your views in the 'house'. Wrongly, these "terrorists" are actually doing something about what they believe in, not updating their social media accounts. I'm off for a while."

I feel your frustration regarding the social media side of things, so many idiots talking sh*t. The whole 'pray' for Paris thing got tedious as well. I know people's hearts are in the right place, and it is terrible what happened, but it just makes absolutely zero difference writing it over and over again. Actually praying makes even less difference.

  9. Worst flight of mine was coming back from Ibiza and some guy was ODing on the plane. Had to land in Lyon to let the idiot off the plane, and then we couldn't get a spot to take off for another 3 hours. Then the jokers on the plane were telling us they can't serve food or drink while stationary on the runway, was absolute chaos on the plane, everyone was going mental.

  10. Hi all, long time toffees man thanks to my old man, but a long distance one now unfortunately due to work. New to this forum malarkey so may take a while to get used to it, but hoping to stick around for a bit. ta.
