  1. When we had Jags, Lescott and Yobo he got them all into the side by playing Lescott at LB and leaving Baines on the bench. He doesn't seem to have the balls for big decisions IMO.

In fairness I dont think anyone could pick out our current strongest 11. It will be trial and error for awhile, while Moyes tinkers to see which set up offers the best balance.

  2. I was impressed with us last night. Having a balanced team makes such a huge difference. It's amazing to see what you can do with two wingers in the team!

The first half was very good, kept possesion very well and as much as I hate to say it Gerrard dictated the game very well in the centre of the pitch. F365 review summed it up very well when they said it was a "study in understated excellence".

  3. dude, 1st day of the term? If so you could use that to do it all. Just get the kids to write an essay on what they did over the holidays!

Yup first day of term. Ah well. I'm teaching film all day so i'll just stick Indiana Jones on and be done with it. Easy.

  4. Oh god today has been horrific at work. My computer has just blown up. As in smoke puring out of it and everything. I have just potentially lost all of my work, including the majority of my lesson plans which i start teaching on Monday. This is not a good thing. I could really use a stiff drink right about now...

  5. You mean this Jamie or is something else happening?

Don't suppose there's any news on the planning permission yet?

That's the one. I spoke with someone who works in Goodison and they where saying that the devlopment would include an expansion of the corporate facilities and would increase the possibility of a higher revenue from corporate boxes and events. I havn't however seen any written proof of this.

  6. Public transport in this country has gone mental. So many stories like this. A few months back my fiance was travelling to a dress making course, she got to the train station and the ticket booth was closed and the ticket machine was broken meaning that there was no possible way to buy a ticket prior to boarding the train. She assumed that she wold be able to pop on the train and buy a ticket afterwards at the the other end. She arrived at here destination to be told that as she had not purchased a ticket she would be fined, she argued that she couldn't buy a ticket as there was no way to, they wouldn't agree. She didn't have enough money on her to buy the now more expensive ticket so I had to make a 35 mile drive to bring her some money so that she could pay this ridiculous fine. I was so close to punching the station conducter bloke it was untrue. I argued with him that on his logic nobody can use the train station by our house as there is noway to buy tickets. God, it's making me angry just thinking about it !

  7. We're not going to be able to compete financially until we have a better stadium. What do we have...13 boxes?! Other teams in modern stadiums have 50 odd (guess!) this is where the money is - the more boxes etc. you have, the more you take in on match days and more importantly the more you take in on non-match days e.g. corporate events. We just don't have the facilities at GP!

We've just started work on new facilities at Goodison which will increase the corporate options available. Which is good.

  8. It is very true!

The Shite, Villa and Fulham have actually made a profit Blackburn have broken even and EVERY OTHER CLUB in the Prem has spent considerably more than us. I would say that qualifies as the vast majority

There is a world of difference between dreaming of a billionaire arab to come riding over the horizon and wanting the club to add a player or 2 to the squad every now and again.

I accepted that we cant do a City ( Stoke City that is!) and I was happy when Moyse was saying we have to make small steps each year. I would be happy with one decent signing per year but to just tread water and not build on the squad at all is hard to take

You are right I will "Just have to deal with it" but it doesnt really fit in with the club motto and it doesnt mean I have to like it either.

Everyone has missed the point of investing heavily in the restructuring of the wage system though. We have struggled in the past to be able to offer the higer end wages to attract the better players. We have slowly restructed this system and now are in a situation where we can do this. Would you prefer to spend over-inflated fee's on half decent players or be able to pay the wages of an improving squad?

Who cares what the motto is really? It doesn't make any difference. Just because our motto says one thing doesn't mean that we should just start plumming money into transfers when it will seriously damage the long term security of the club.
