  1. Pictures of the proposed stadium to be released 10am Friday on the official site:

    link

Keith Wyness "The project is going to cost around £150m, but Everton will only be faced with a debt of between £10m and £15m, which is relatively nothing these days when the result is a brand new stadium. Tesco are putting in £50m towards the cost of the stadium, but they have negotiated a deal with their own contractors. This means we will be getting a stadium building that would otherwise have cost £75m. There is then the cost of fitting out the new stadium. The sale of Goodison Park will realise up to £15m and naming rights will earn us up to £25m. That will leave the club to fund the balance of the fitting out costs and we think that could be as low as £10m."

  2. Soon as I heard Keith say there was no plan B I knew it was more lies. He must take the fans for complete idiots, I'm sure a few new sites will miraculously appear if the vote is turned down. If the ballot is going to be a>move to Kirby b>stay in Goodison its a farce.

As for the design proposal I think it looks cheap and dated, something out of the 80's book of stadia architecture. It doesn't need to be a bowl to have the corners seated.

  3. Im probably wrong, but im gunna have to question some of these mate.

    1. we know kenwright doesnt have the resources to run the club financially or general business like. thats why he brought bully in to run the club.

    2. there is a bigger risk with bringing in foreign players, also why they are cheaper imo. a proven player in a proven league will command a premium.

    3. i take total issue with this one! why do we have to know everything that goes on? being a bit more honest? wtf! they are a business! we are just customers! the more they tell us about whats going on, the more they tell their competitors! we have no right to know whats goin on! and the people who want to start sacking people because of this really need a better understanding of business!

    4. 100% agree with this one, and the time and money invested by wenger on his scouting system! he has had his contacts for a lot longer than moyes remember! it didnt happen over night

To be fair the analogy of a football fan to a customer isn't accurate. Fans are never going to jump ship if they aren't happy with a product or service.

In any case, large companies have to employ PR staff to build loyalty and trust keeping customers informed about new products, improvements and developments. I think our blind loyalty's taken far too much for granted by Kenwright and his board.

  4. Everton manager David Moyes has admitted that although he would like to add more players to his current crop of players, he does not have the money to compete with 'the top end' of the Premiership.

While this will come as no surprise to most Evertonians, some are starting to question why we have no money.

  5. Problem is we don't know how much Kenwright is giving him to spend. Moyes has long lamented the financial contraints at Everton while patting himself on the back for competing with teams who have money, and rightly so. But we know for certain there is a huge influx of cash this year possibly more than double last year. Moyes will have a list of players he wants to bring in and in my opinion between the chairman and ceo, they are not giving him the money he needs.

  6. If moyes is giving him another chancce then it shows moyes is weak when it comes to disapline, Hes came out slagging the club and moyes on more than one occasion and yet he could be givin ANOTHER chance.

Take the SAF route and if they bad mouth you, you chuck em out.

Van Der Meyde's still under contract so unless someone comes in for him we'll have to pay him millions in compensation to release him. Would you prefer to do that or put it towards buying a new striker?

One thing Moyes isn't is soft on discipline, Blomqvist was the first to learn that when he threw a strop for being taken off and was was released shortly after. The difference with Man U is they can afford to take loss on a player and in general other teams will have a lot more interest in their cast offs being a higher calibre.

  7. Good luck Gary.

    Wish him all the best.

As people have said never set the world on fire but I think always gave 100%

    Baines new number 3?????

No problem with the guy but his distribution and positioning were crap, I dont give players credit for trying hard, that's the bare minimum if they dont they shouldn't be in blue shirt. £1m transfer fee says it all. Wright and Naysmith in two days is progress as far as I'm concerned. Good luck to him all the same.

  8. To push on in the league and Euro the strikers we have is not enough.

Yes Cahill can play there but he is more an attacking midfielder.

All you have to do is look at Spurs front line and ours bearing in mind we should be challanging Spurs for 5 place.

    Berb

    Keane

    Bent

I know who I would rather have.

Intesting from Harry at Pompy saying that he has spoken to Nugent but has to wait as got a couple of clubs interested.

    http://www.itv-football.co.uk/Story/0,1427...2467301,00.html

They're all better apart from AJ even then he wouldnt be first choice. We can't consolidate last seasons position with the current squad, Spurs and Newcastle will be a much stonger outfit next year along with Villa. I think Bolton falter to some degree but maybe that's wishfull thinking. We saw last year how lifeless we were with Johnson out. We need at least one striker, I was hoping two with Beattie being sold but doesn't look like it's going to happen.

  9. Tottenham have made a lot more than we do for one reason or another recently. Everton were just knocked out of the top 20 with a turnover of around 58m. It's a bit of a concern seeing the likes of Man City and West Ham in there:

  10. From the Annual Delloite Premiership report, the Premiership overtook the rest of Europe in terms of revenue long ago and it keeps getting bigger. It's no wonder the prices are ramped up as soon as an English team makes a transfer enquirey. The more money Premiership teams get the higher the prices go.

    • English football contributed around one quarter of the total revenue of the European football market of £8.7 billion in 2006.

    • Premier League clubs generated the highest revenue (£1.4 billion) and operating profitability (£138m) in Europe in 2005/06. Their lead over second placed Italian Serie A clubs (total revenue of £1.0 billion) will grow further next year. The other ‘big five’ leagues are in Germany (£0.8 billion), Spain (£0.8 billion) and France (£0.6 billion).

  11. 25 mill or so has gone on Aretta & Cahill. ( even if its only in Pencil)

Think about 45-50k per week x52 over 5yrs x 2 players add Bonus etcs & loose is the change received from that figure.

That'd be a fair point if we had to pay them their entire wages for the next five years at the the time the contract was signed a few days ago. As it is, that money will be coming in the main from future revenue.

  12. you can say alot of things about BK but at least he isnt screwing the club over and improving his instant access savings account

Untill we find out where the biggest windfall in the club's history has gone, I'll reserve judgement on that. Till them we can hear a few more rumours about us apparently being skint...again.

  13. If we had the means and the wherewithall to do it, we would, don't allow sentimentality to enter into your thinking. All clubs sell themselves, just some get more than others because they are more attractive prospects.

Something I remind bitter RS and Manc supporters I work with on a regular basis when Chelsea beat them to another signing. You sure as shit won't see one Liverpool fan complaining if they dont balance their books at the end of this summer.

  14. Johnson... Paying £4 million for a goalkeeper from the club he and his wife owned, and pulling Duncan Ferguson out of the team and selling him on the Day of the Match, without the manager or the players knowledge.

AND JUST A WORD ON THIS COMMENT.........

""Johnson took out huge loans against the club to supplement Smith's spending""

Walter Smith is down on record as being the only manager in fifty years to leave the Club with Balanced books, he made the club profit on his wheeling and dealing, which he had to do Because JOHNSON DIDNT GIVE HIM ANY TRANSFER FUNDS, and it has also been said by ex players that had it been a less experienced Manager at the helm, we would most certainly have been relegated, I think he deserves a bit of respect.

I agree Smith did well to keep us up though I hated the football at the time. He was given money in his first summer, around 20 million but then when we didn't qualify for Europe it came out he was forced by Johnson to sell the same players off.

With regards Ferguson it's been suggested Smith knew all about that transfer (they had the same agent at the time) and allowed Johnson to dig his own grave. Newcastle must have been pissing themselves when we bought him back.

  15. do you really believe there are no wealthy evertonians who want to buy the club?

If there are any, where are they? Are they waiting for our value to raise through European exposure before investing their fortune?

can you explain johnson ripping us apart and leaving us high and dry?

    where to start..

Johnson took out huge loans against the club to supplement Smith's spending and when the results didn't follow we were forced to sell our best players, Ball, Jeffers, Dacourt, Materazi. Even then we were still massively in debt.

dont forget, johnson put up the cash for all his managers to buy the players they wanted to buy. he had innovative ideas for the stadium issue.

See above, it wasn't his cash and as for Kendall, he gave him fuck all to spend. As for innovative ideas on his hamperdome conception, that was all about Johnson's own personal gain and was never given finanical backing. Would you really have wanted to ground share with a rugby league club?

when he left he sold the club for what it was worth, just as he bought it for what it was worth.

Johnson bought Everton for a bargain £10mil when we were at our lowest ebb on the brink of relegation, the year we beat Wimbledon on the last day of the season. This was at the start of the Premiership and Sky boom. He held on at the end for as long as he could before selling his shares to screw every last penny out of the club selling for more than double what he paid leaving us tens of million £s in debt

the problem johnson had was he hired the wrong managers, and im sure he would tell you the same

Surely along with investing money into a club AND keeping it on a financial even keel, hiring managers are the main criteria for judging a chairman's success. In that respect he was one of the poorest in our history. I could go on about Johnson - the Liverpool season ticket holder, and how he almost finished us off but I can't be arsed, the day he left was one of the best days in our history.

  16. Well I for one am glad that BK did manage enough to scrap together to buy the club. The club was in dire straight when BK took over,

BK took over the club when the club was at its lowest point - when you think back at the first few years he was at the club, it was basically firefighting to keep the club in the Premiership and keep the club afloat.

Over the past 5 year the club has been moving forward both on an of the pitch at a steady rate. I for one am more than happy for us to carry on in this vain rather than snatch the hand of the first lot of investers who have themselves at heart and not Everton football club.

Credit where credit is due for me.

If a decent investment comes alone then it should be one that suits Everton football club the most rather than the investor. I for one am glad that appraoches by the likes of Yeung are dismissed out of turn. I personnal think the club is in good hand and will not be sold down the river to the highest bidder. I am personnally a big BK fan for what he has done for our club under difficult circumstances. He takes nothing out of the club and puts as much in as anybody else.

If you are not a BK fan - then I have one thing to say - Better the devil you know.

I agree this guy wouldnt be viable, he cant even raise the 50 he needs for Brum, but what makes an investor suitable? If you think any of them are going to put the club before them making a profit you are dreaming and that goes for Man U, Liverpool and all the others bought by non-fans. There are no Evertonian sugar daddys waiting in the wings but There can be mutual gains for both parties from an outside investor, success and profit.

We seem automatically suspicious of foreign interest. Just because a potential investor is foreign doesn't automatically make him Satan in disguise. Johnson was from Birkenhead and ripped our club apart, almost took us into the championship and did a runner leaving us high and dry.

  17. surely its worth waiting a few weeks to save £1m, we arent flush with cash are we! also save a few weeks wages. im happy to wait for jags.

but nugent, if we want him we have to play ball, and we have to do it pretty fast before we lose out for good.

It worries me people are so happy to accept we have no money when this isn't the case any more. We are reported be be getting 40-55 million Sky/Setanta revenue depending on where you read it, Sunderland have got 25 mil to spash on transfers just from coming up.

There has been NO mention of how this income will be spent unlike a host of other premiership clubs. I understand the need to avoid total transparency as it would lead to clubs holding us to ransom but I can see it just being written off once again under the guise of debts, new contracts and outstanding transfer payments. There should be some accountability on what's happening to the largest windfall in the club's history and it better hadn't be earmarked the stadium move's down payment.
