I did indeed see the match last night. In reality the formation I would choose looks slightly different on the pitch ie. Howard Neville Yobo Lescott Baines Carsley Arteta Osman Pienaar AJ McFaddy I think Cars will make the reall difference. A player who breaks up opposistion play through the middle...something we defiantely lacked last night in Jags. The defending was really poor last night as both Stubbs and Yobo dived in at every opportunity with the Klingon back at CB i think Yobo will be slightly calmer. To beat the barcodes you have to pressure there weak defence. Long balls to an out of form AJ will not do this. Sure with 4-5-1 we will look better at the back but you can only defend so long untill someone makes a mistake. Learn from teams like Metalist and attack...

I would be tempted to play AJ up front with McFaddy. I think the home fans jeers (and im sure there will be a lot) will only serve to inspire him into having a real gutsy performance. But please let Arteta take any penalties we may win.

I still think its interesting how this one ends up. As i see it the following is possible but not so likely: * Big Phil (Portugal) will be replaced for his 4 game ban by Jose temporary. Which takes us to Jan/Feb? * Jose will take over at Spurs * Jol will replace Marco VB at Holland * MVB will go to Chelski * Grant will be spotted at the job centre around late Jan, early Feb. But if the following does happen then it takes us past (or near) the transfer window so will Jol's last job be to get rid of Defoe or can he hold on until Jose is in? Or is it far too early on a Monday morning to be spouting this garbage?

Its not just the 2m that will be thrown away its also the prem league salary he will need to be paid to bench warm. A waste of money IMO

After seeing Jol sub (argubly) the best player on the pitch last night and the reaction from the Spuds. I thought Jol's days were numbered. But then Defoes replacement Keane set up the opener and big Martin was singing his own praises. So my question (dicussion point) is who will be the 1st to go, Jol or defoe? Sorry if you're bored of the Jol topic, just thought last night put another spin on it...

Boro looked really poor last night. This is exactly the sort of league game we need right now. I think McFad deserves a start but not in midfield. I just think he goes missing at times.

Don't get me wrong it is a good thing for players to admit to having a bad game. As long as next time they play giving it 100%. It is refreshing though, an honest player! What’s the world coming to? Next managers will be saying "yeah the team played bad because of a tactics decision I made. Sorry I will try and make sure I learn from this mistake and it doesn't happen again." Thats a real nice way of looking at it. But football being what it is, is a highly critical sport. What happens next time he has a bad game? Does he say "yep i had another shocker"? Its all confidence....... And for a a team that is low on confidence, churning out a 3-0 win is a great result. This is the cup who cares how they won as long as they did. Leagues slightly different though its ok to win the occasional game when you don't play well, but over the course of 38 games its extreamly difficult. Im half in the mind hoping we go away to Ukraine only getting a 0-0 draw and forgetting about europe until we are really ready.

If you ask me this is career suicide! I think most players (not just Toffees) would admit to having a bad game. But not to the club or fans. Probably to a few close mates well out of media earshot.....
