is anyboy else slightly woried that we have a decent enough side out and we cannot beat these championship teams (preston & palace)
Not really!.....I've seen great pre-seasons followed by crap results when the season starts,
likewise poor pre-seasons followed by a good season thereafter!
More worried by injuries to Vaughan and Cahill....sure it's part of football, but just not
what we needed.Cahill's one of our top players and Vaughan could have saved us £millions
if he had a great pre-season.
Wigan at home will be a different story. It's a must win....already!how sad is that?
But three points against a team that should really struggle,is something we have to
get to get that top 6 spot. The pressures on us not Wigan....fortress Goodison(crumbling
or not)....must be a place where teams come expecting to lose. Most of the"BIG"teams
don't like coming to us.....so let's start kicking some"small"teams arses!!!
To the fans lucky enough to be there!!.........don't get at the lads if were not 3 goals up
in the first ten minutes.....3 in the last ten's usually good enough.
-
These big signings everyone wants!!.......you mean the ones like Kroldrup!...
...VDM!......Beattie!.My point is every BIG signing is a BIG risk.We missed out on
Parker last year, where did Newcastle finish?
We finished higher than Blackburn last season....and that after they beat us to
McCarthy!Plus the numerous other teams who spent big money last year.Spending
money doesn't guarantee success,as West Ham will discover this season.
For some reason Moyes doesn't have much money to spend....there's nothing you
can do about that...ok! stop going!.....Then he's got less!!
Get behind the the squad we've got....and the manager who for how he's turned us
around from a few seasons back, deserves our support.
That £300million stadium the rs are having built,it will end up at nearer £400million
by the time it's done.....and they need to win many trophies, and fill every seat for
the yanks to get their money back.......by the time they get to their kopless stadium
Gerrard may be passed his best....OH DEAR!!
We beat teams last season, who had spent more than us!......we can do it again this
season.
-
When an average player costs around the £6million mark and has a contract that over
a few years pays a few more £million....for doing something they enjoy...somethings
wrong!
A few moths back a table was published showing the wealthiest/financialy sorted clubs
in europe.Everton were some way up there(I think.....weren't they in the top 20?)
if so and these new figures are correct!.....then God help those below us!
Looks like the Tescos Stadium for us then!......and hey!do your shopping after the match..
...and you'll see McFadden stacking shelves....Beattie on the cheese counter....and Moyes
on checkout......Well every little helps pay your debts!
Don't worry about it!......could be worse, you could support Iraq.....go out on the town
to celebrate winning the cup.....and get shot in the back of the head!
-
Can't say I've ever heard of him!......But with stupid money being paid for players,
finding and bringing through youngsters is obviously a major victory.
Vaughan,Anichebe,Hibbert,Osman,Ball,McCann,Jeffers,Rooney to name a few!
Pity we couldn't have done more with Owen,Fowler,Gerrard,Carrigher.
-
5 years down the lien we'll still have a below par stadium, no investment, and a team struggling/bottom half if not relegated with the way things are goin ... imo
I'm not sure things would turn out that way!.......Five years down the line could see
us still at Goodison(no way is it falling down)...Fortress Goodison maybe, they wont
like coming to our rough(their words)little ground.
We've a small but very good squad, capable of improving. There's no reason why
we can't finish top 8 over the next five years. It will be the Man city's,Aston Villa's
and the new money boys who will be under the eye and under pressure. Not enough
good players to go round, hence big money(and wages)for average and crap players.
Move or no move?....I don't know, but I do think that our present squad when fit
can roll over most of the teams in the prem....at Goodison....Kirby.....or Tesco's car park!
-
The groundshare thing is a non-starter, much as Ive said I would boycott Kirkby in the past, I think I just couldnt, Ive said for the past 3-4 season that this will be my last season ticket and yet, here I am again, 21 seasons on from my first visit to Goodison park
That'll be a taxi for Zed then!!!!
-
Firstly I'd like a fantastic new stadium.....right where Goodison Park stands now!
and would quite like it to be called Goodison Park!!.....OK probably not going to happen.
Licker!...a couple of questions!.....You would like to stay in the city!....at all costs
maybe?......would you ground share?.....or would you rather move just outside
the city limits to avoid such a terrible thing!
Just wondering really how an ardent Evertonian(yourself)...would view that.
For my sins I live a couple of hundred miles away from Goodison....closest ground
being Norwich!Should I/could I really support them because they are my local club!
Give up Everton because there not my local club!.....and support Norwich!Just couldn't
happen.I could get a season ticket for Norwich.....but I'd rather watch Everton about
7 times each season(plus every bit of live tv football...internet...papers...radio etc
that I can get.....including talking to you locals on here)...
My point is.....down the road....or even a long way down the road you'll still follow them!
So I hope will 45,000 others.I'm willing but unable(a lot of the time) to watch a team not
even in my county......I'm pretty sure you'll get that taxi!I for one hope you do!!
-
1.Our stadium holds 40,000 not 45,000.
2.We can't fill it anyway.
3.We 100% would never be able to fill a 50,000 seater.
4.We will go like Man City and still only have attendances of 36,000 to 40,000 even in a much larger ground, making it look only half full.
5.We will NEVER challenge Liverpool for anything ever as they're too far gone for us to catch up, suppose we will always have to put up with the fact they have won everything many more times than us. And to be honest I can't see Everton winning the league for at least 20 years
Like was said what about the mid-80's when they couldn't touch us?.......they had been
top dog before that for a few years....and it took a european ban,Kendall leaving plus
a few of our players to put us back under them!
Next couple of seasons, things could change again!Gerrard's only human will slow down
and get injured.....some big signings could be crap!......they might just lose that lucky
rabbits foot....four leaf clover......horse shoe!!!!!
We took four points of them last season!!.......NEVER CHALLANGE LUCKYPOOL!!!!!
Get a grip,if next season were lucky with injures and there not!there wont be many points
in it!We finished higher than them a couple of seasons back.
They could be the ones playing to a two thirds full stadium not us.
GIVE IN TO THOSE LUCKY TOSSERS.......NEVER!
-
Hello Colin!
Not American!......not even a scouse!.......I live about 120 miles north of London!
That's what I tell your countrymen when over there....it seems to help!!
The love for this club has no boundries......WELCOME!

QUOTE(Blue 250 @ Jul 19 2007, 11:14 PM)
I think an"in form"Beattie and AJ are good enough to hold at bay the young
guns of Vaughan and Anichebe......but they will make a break through this season.
Don't quite agree with this, Vaughan is too hot a prospect to leave on the bench.
Only a very much improved Beattie will be able to keep Vaughan out. It's in Beatties
hands now!Moyes will play him......if he scores he'll stay in,if not we have options.
Shame about VDM!.....But you could say that about any of them that don't make it.
Probably get the odd game, might even surprise us.....just doubt it!
As for Silva, from what I've heard he's got a chance....and we probably need him to
take it!
-
howard
jagielka right back
yobo
lescott
neville left back
arteta right
silva
cahill
vdm left if fit
beattie
johnson
this is if silva is any good
Two goals for Beattie in the opening couple of games could be the making of him
at Everton.I think an"in form"Beattie and AJ are good enough to hold at bay the young
guns of Vaughan and Anichebe......but they will make a break through this season.
VDM?......Even if fit, can't really see it working for him.
Hibbert!.....Disaster last season. At his best too good to leave out.Could well improve as he gets older.
Think we need more steel in midfield....Carsley,could well be that man.
-
Obviously THE move wont be within the next few years wherever we go!......So a chance
to worry about the next couple of years and our lack of money, perhaps should be
looked at!
FINANCALLY OUTSHONE!...by Wigan,Sunderland,Fulham,Birmingham,Man City...and
the list goes on and on....WHY WORRY?
Last season it was against teams like these where we underperformed and lost points!
Whilst against some of the financial giants who have spent fortunes we recorded some
very good results and performances.
But for a couple of hit and hopes and a save from Vaughan at Stamford Bridge it would
have been even better.
So the sooner teams like Portsmouth,Wigan and Fulham.....spend all that money and become
"big"like the teams we managed to beat or draw with last season....the sooner we can stop
droping stupid points against them!
Seriously though, there will be big pressure on the "small"teams with the sudden wealth
with their overpriced players and the fans expectations.
And wherever the rectangle of grass that EVERTON end up playing on is situated, their
good young manager and ever improving team will probably beat most of these newly
financially burdened teams.
In a couple of years time when the ground move is probably sorted....if not complete,
then I'm sure we,Everton will be in a pretty good condition, and some of these teams
owned by clowns will wish they were as poor as us!!!
-
OK!...Thanks for that RuffRob!Can see you point on a couple of those issues!
Yes a 50/55,000 seat stadium would generate extra income IF the stadium was
filled to the 40,000+mark every week.If we get a poor start,then the "I didn't
want to leave Goodison Park"people will express their dissappointment with maybe
a no show........the same could happen to luckypool if they get a bad start!Their
glory hunting fans aren't made of what Evertonians are made of!so it could be
even worse for them!
You will have a reduced general running cost and general maintanence cost that comes with a brand new state of the art stadium
Well that will save us some money.....Have they ever made public what it costs to
maintain Goodison each year?
I thought Goodison had function rooms and restaurants and the like!Don't Evertonians
use these?.....would they really rather use ones up the road?maybe!
I wonder where the players would prefer....large open stadium,or ones like Goodison
with it's atmosphere and enclosed structure.
surely teams who play 90% of their games in the big new type stadiums, would find
closed in type arenas like Goodison a hard place to come to!!...Personaly I'd like that!
-
A new Stadium with have the capacity to generate vastly increased and valuable revenue.
Not sure I can really see where a new ground can create "vastly"increased revenue!
Can someone outline how this will be done!......I wont get a vote,so I haven't read
everything about the move,so I could have missed the official view on this matter.
What can they do at a new stadium, that they couldn't do at Goodison?
-
Anyone else see the news tonight!.........about ground forces in Afganistan. It revolved
around the fact that Britain,Canada and the USA provide the bulk of troops deployed
in this conflict.Other NATO countries are being urged to supply more troops to help out.
In particular Germany was highlighted......Now their troops are deployed in the much
safer north region...AND THEY DONT PATROL AFTER DARK!!......AS THIS IS THOUGHT
TO BE TOO DANGEROUS!! .............WHAT!!...
Nazi stormtroopers...turning in their graves, springs to mind!
-
Yeh he did score a goal vs. the RS
Hes still comes across as a nob, rio ferdinand has scored against the RS, he is still a nob
I rest my case
He didn't just score 'a' goal against the rs!!.......he scored the winning goal against
them in a cup final!.......and they missed a penalty!......and I was watching it on tv
with my rs brother!!!!.............nob or no nob? <_< .....he'll always be welcome round
mine for a cup of tea.
Wimbledon 1 luckypool 0.........(no 40metre long shots,no dubious decisions(in their favour)
no wimbledon players sent off,no penalty shoot outs)
Most rs fans wont remember anything like that!!Probably went to the courts of human rights
........I mean things like that just shouldn't happen.
-
Australia slipping to a 3-1 defeat against Iraq in the Asian Cup.
what a load of sh*t
Well as long as Cahill didn't score 3 own goals and got injured.......it's not too
bad is it!!!
Come on Iraq aren't exactly easy to beat!.....Just ask George Bush!
-
When i started this thread all i asked was which position needs strengthening the most , not who plays best where or what formation suits us best
Alex Ferguson(can't knock the man,for what he's done)....once said"Always buy a
goalscorer".......They win games,and "if I've got four good forwards,and a better one
comes up for sale!....buy him"
The fact Moyes didn't go for Nugent probably proves his next signing wont be a forward.
Most games are won and lost in midfield. So that's more than likely what's lined up.
I'm not sure Turner's quite ready for a long run if Howard gets injured.
Infact, your question is harder to answer than I thought!....WE NEED MORE THAN ONE MORE
PLAYER!.......We've only got one PROVEN/TRUSTED goalscorer.......question marks over
the full back positions. So maybe at the moment midfield is our strongest area at the
moment.
Saying all that IF...Hibbert and Valente were injury free this season and Vaughan and
Anichebe perform well, then we shouldn't do too bad.
Still can't answer that bloody question!.....only one player, what position?????????
-
I find Lawrie Sanchez a strange sort of person, I dont particlularly dislike him but he comes across as a knob
Now if you know your history!!..........You wouldn't dislike Sanchez!
Scorer of one of the finest FA Cup Final goals in history.
-
MOYESY HASNT GOT A CLUE
and yea im standing by my "moyesy hasnt got a clue
... besides the ups and downs on the whole we are on the Up
OH!........So Moyes has got a clue!!......Well at least a bit more than you!!!
-
Few years ago I had an encounter with a black panther......other than the person
with me at the time, just about everyone else took the piss.....some of them big
time!!.....Now my point is that if you saw a ghost!would you tell people?there only
going to laugh at you!
So why would sencible people describe sightings (of ghosts)and paranormal activities,
when they know they will just be laughed at?.......Therefore most of these so called
activities probably did happen.....why would you bother to make things up just to
become a figure of fun?
There will always be con men trying to rip people off over contacting the dead....sick
people!
Now you needn't send me any money for this,but!!......Dixie Dean told me the other
night"Don't worry about not getting Nugent.....Vaughan's better"
and he sent a private message for Romney 1878!.....he likes sentimental people!!
not Wankers like you!
-
However, another spin off is the likely hood of more Tv apprerances -> Thus becoming a pleasing spin off 4 the distant & no doubt non regular match goers
Well I'm a non regular match goer...6-8 home games if I'm lucky....Sundays no good
for me!.....The mid-week games,the Sunday and the games where I can't get a ticket
limit's the amount of matches long distant(some)fans can attend.....Yeh TV's ok and
it is another game watched.I would have thought Sunday games are a pretty good
option for the local fan!
What kind of % does anyone think watch at home or down the pub, when they could
in fact make the match?.......surely a pub and a couple of pints and saving about
£20 must come into it.
-
You know what's really sad about this 'religious' war!
Take a Muslim,a christian,a budist and a representative of all the other main
religions, throw in an athiest(disbeliever in the existance of any God)....and put
them in a room together. What have you got?
Well let's be honest!only one of them can be right....and the way the world seems
to be heading, sadly the athiest has a good shout!
SO......Suicide bombers, highjacked aircraft and the numerous other wonderful
ways of killing people are all being done in the name of.............erm
I can remember being 0-2 down to Wimbledon......and asking any God who was
listening to put an apperance in at Goodison Park....and I really don't think that
shot from Stuart would have gone in without some kinda help!......so you never
know!!!!!!
-
First game of the Season......Wigan!..One of Moyes first names on the team
sheet.........Lee Carsley!Tell you what,he wont let us down.
Wigan
in Match Days
Posted
Simple really!....All Moyes has to do is to get the lads to play as if the opposition were
the rs or Chelsea, that way I'm sure they will beat Wigan!
If they go out with easy 3 points ringing in their ears, then they just may come unstuck against
a Wigan team under no pressure for this trip to Goodison!
Don't know about this years signings!.....but the three from last year Howard,Lesscott
and AJ will play a major part in what we achieve this year.
A clean sheet and a goal or two for AJ,would be just the thing in preperation for that trip
to Spurs.IF and it's a big IF we can get a result there like last season, then away at
Reading wont come fast enough!
Lot of if's in there......And it all starts with Wigan.Carsley will start!....he might even score!
