  1. Some of the VERY few goals Beattie has scored for us in the prem,

have been excellent goals.Ok so he's probably never going to be

a 20 goal a season player....but who since Sharpy has?

Nugent hasn't scored in the prem yet! and every time Vaughan

and Anichebe take to the pitch the crowd myself included are

willing the lads to do well and score.....unlike Beattie who seems

to have people actually hoping he fails. He can't do what AJ can

do on his own up front!Half of his games thats probably what he was

asked to do.Add injuries and stupid sending off's and his Everton

career never took off.If he's fit the only way to test him is something like

15 starts up front with AJ......But we can't afford the risk can we!

Beattie baiting will continue....Confidence with forwards is probably

more than 50% of their game....when he scores a goal, the hand to

the ear gesture!!.....is that all about"well....shit now am I?"...maybe not!

I'm pretty sure he knows what a large % of fans think!

I wont shed a tear if he leaves.....but I will admit he probably wasn't given

    a real crack at the job.How long does a forward get?What if a £6million

Nugent doesn't score in his first say 10 games.Do we adapt a style of play

to suit a new forward.Didn't we aks Beattie to replace the hard working

Bent in the loan role....was that what Beattie was good at?Aj's bloody

great at it,but Beattie needed a partner and partnerships take time.

  2. Ooooooppppss!!........It was me who said I was glad we didn't get Sissoko!!

Only basing that opinion on what I've seen of him.Sure he is an athletic player

and breaks down opponents moves,ie get's the tackle in.....BUT he gives away

lots of fouls, and his distribution is poor.He hasn't really looked like scoring.

He's not going to get a game when the big$$$'s hit home.

    Sure he's not crap.....but going by the post's on a luckypool forum,forward

play suffers when he has the ball. He's always going to stick out a long leg

and win more than his share of the 50/50 balls, and every team needs a ball

winner in midfield........but Fernandes, the little I've seen of him looks more

creative going forward, and given the choice I would rather have him.So by

the middle of next season would luckypool.

But I respect your opinion on Sissoko being a good player, and if you wanted

a player to upset the rythem of your opponents midfield, then maybe he's your

    man.

  3. surely depends what the injury is!.....Moyes and his staff should

be able to guage if it's worth the gamble.

Can't be worse than Sissoko surely, often injured, hasen't scored,

poor distribution.....all he seems good at is breaking down moves!

Thank God we didn't get him!

Fernandes is in my mind a better player, when he settles watch

him score and create plenty of goals. No stupid money though!

because he is still young, and he could go either way.

He and Nuggent and a couple of defenders should do us.

  4. With the right partner, and given time Beattie could do well

else where.Has he ever had a really good crack at a partnership

with AJ?......Could he have formed a duo with either Vaughan

    or Anichebe?

A couple of the goals he's scored for us were quality,he's a cool

penalty taker and he gives or has just lately when he's come on

    100%!

If Marcus Bent was worth £2million.....then we should get at least

£3.5million for Beattie.....if we let him go!

What if Nugent can't cut it in the Prem(could happen)and he won't be cheap

will he!An injury or two and we could wish we'd kept him(Beattie)

    Johnson.....Vaughan...Anichebe....McFadden....Nugent!!

Only one of those at the moment are proven prem goalscorers, and an

injury to AJ,could prove a disaster...I'd hang on to Beattie,he can score

    in the prem.

There's alot more money coming in with the new TV deal....money for

european games(maybe)....and some more mone from the Rooney

    deal....Get Nugent.....and Fernandes...and 3 defenders!

  5. Great to see everyone going for a win or at least a draw!!

    A WIN....Would be fantastic(at Bolton)......A draw pretty good!

They like us have a hell of a lot to fight for....plus the home

advantage.I think Vaughan will have an important role for the

rest of the season, including today.Why?.....because a lot of defences

still don't know much about him,he can catch watching the more obvious

threat of AJ.IF there drawn towards the lad!then AJ will have the space he needs.

Midfield's the battlefield today.....step forward LEE CARSLEY! and perhaps

the snappy Fernandes. For them Davies always likes to piss us off!

Don't be surprised if we lose.....not many goals today!

We might just squeeze a 1-0!(that would be a great result)

  6. Have to agree with a couple of posts on here!At times the defence looked

shakey!....every free kick and corner we seemed to struggle.Maybe a fully

fit Hibbert,a fit left back and the manificent Lescott in the center and things

    would improve.

Didn't think Arteta played above himself, and yes Osman had a quiet game.

With possibly Fernandes and Cahill in for Osman and either Carsley or

Neville....then maybe were looking at our best team.

Last night was all about winning and 3 points and thats what they got!

Credit to all of them Defenders,Osman.......and the fans! They all played

    their part.

Thought Vaughan's finish was excellent, and the chance where he hit the

post wasn't an easy one.All this off the back of a long lay off.

Carsley!....what can you say!The old boy did great.

  7. As was highlighted on the Sky coverage last night. There were seven English

players in the Everton starting line up!Add in a couple of Scotts and the Irish

in the team and squad.......and sureley we are setting an example to the rest

    of the Prem!

All that and 5th place, thats pretty good......OH but for those silly games

where we threw points away at the last minute, and this season would already

    have been an excelent one.

I hope luckypool fill their new Yankie Stadium with expencive Spanish

and other foreign players,Overated, overpaid and over here!

surely it can't go horribly wrong for them!.......Can it?

  8. What ever way you look at it Lescott must rate as one of the best signings

in the prem for years.....thank God Kroldrup was shown the door!Other wise

he'd be playing for one of the teams above us.

Where do you start with Lescott?....Big,strong.....can play across the back,

good at going forward, hardley ever wasted possession last night!

Oh yeh!.....he's young,he's English.....a certain choise for our player of

the season.....He even showed last night he can create goals/chances..

The signing of Lescott.....Was a good days work Mr Moyes!!

  9. Couple of things on Duncs!

I think during most of the time he spent here,we(Everton)

never really had a great squad or even team. That obviously

doesn't bring the best out of someone...ie Crouch plays

    better for luckypool than Southampton!

Quite a few people came to watch Duncs play, even when

the team weren't doing well, sure he didn't exactly play

loads of games and at times he was kinda over physical

but the man it seems was a Blue icon....well to quite a few!

The big man did spend a lot of time injured....pretty sure

that pissed him off too.A better squad and more luck with

injuries and we would have seen an even better player.

If the majority of Everton fans don't want to leave the city,

and Duncs involvment in that debate can help even in the smallest

way....then I would have thought like him or hate him we should

be glad he can be bothered to speak up for what most

Evertonians want............I'm not his biggest fan, though at his

best I thought he was as good a number 9 as there was !

And I for one if Big Duncs was standing next to me wanting

to get over his opinion......would listen very quietly

  10. Yep a thought provoking article for sure!

Has he earned more money since he left>.....of course!

Will he win more trophys at Man Utd than at Everton?.......almost certainly!

Was he right to leave us?.......for all but sentimental reasons probably yes!

Has he become a beter player?......I'm sure he probably has(not a lot though,

because he would have improved some by staying with us,ie with age and

    experence)

If he helps Man utd win the treble,he will get us a bucket load of cash.

Like the auther of the article said, and I agree I think factors will have

    him burn himself out,ie money,temprement etc,etc.....am I glad? No.

I wish him luck.....and if he ever WANTS to come back to discover the passion.

    Then I'd take him back!

  11. Goals breed confidence, any goals for a forward(or any position really)

can only be good.Bit like Lescott getting his first for us.....many more

    to follow!

Who knows Faddys future....probably only Moyes. He's still young

could go either way.If we get into europe we will need a decent

    size squad,I don't think he'll leave.

  12. Hello again jartyj!!...........Glad you've decided to have a look on here.

Liked your style of posting on the RBF,and am sure you will bring something

    to this forum.

I myself plan to bring my poor spelling, sence of humor and will be pushing

hard to get the word luckypool(cos thats how I see them)....as widely used

    as possible!

Be good if Rafa(rbf)gave this forum a go!.......anyway,this seems a good

place for us roaming(think we've been on a few forums now)Blues

    to call home!

  13. Well! Thanks for the welcome!........In answer to a couple of the posts.

Yes Norwich to Liverpool is a hell of a long journey!

Usually get a hotel saturday night and travel home sunday, can't

face a 10 hour train journey in one day(though have done it a couple of times)

    And never a canery!....always a toffee!

  14. Hello Blues!

Chap called IGGY put me onto this forum!I'm from Kings Lynn in Norfolk.

Get to about 6 home games a season....would like more!

Got into Everton in the Latchford era and worshiped from distance the Blues.Saw them play

at Norwich a few times, but only really started coming to Goodison about 5 years ago.

    I have a 6' 4" 15 year old Duncan Ferguson worshiping son..........oh yeh and a rs brother!!!!

Shared a bedroom with him as kids half Blue half red!!.......WAR ZONE OR WHAT!

    Great looking forum!

  15. surely if,as it has been said we have first option on the lad, then why don't we just wait and

see what he does for us in the remaining games.Just about every team has waisted big money

on players before and they always will.......so if he has a great finish to the season and helps us

get into europe, and his price tag is £10-12million,then yes go for him.If the move goes wrong

and he turns out like other high price flops!tough!!

The lad can tackle, create and he will(when he settles)score goals.

The question is though, could the money be better spent.ie two or three players?

Bit like Newcastle with Owen!should they have bought 3 really good players for that money?
