  1. Pretty much agree with you but think you are being a bit harsh on McFadden. He was one of the few that looked comfortable on the ball. OK had a couple of wild shots in the first half when he probably shouldve passed, but overall I thought along with Lescott, Pienaar and Victor he was one of our better players. Played like it meant something. Unlike the lazy twat Yakubu. Why Moyes experimented with the team is baffling. The defence looked lost. I know Hibbert isnt everyones fave but I honestly think we would have been more secure at the back with him there (and Baines on the other side). Probably shouldve have gone with those 2 plus Stubbs/Yobo and Lescott in the centre. The less said about Jags the better. Hes never looked the business to me despite a few Evertonians raving about him early on (wishful thinking). His only half decent game for me has been v Bolton where he played in defence. Does Moyes watch the games?????
  2. Here is a link: http://www.myp2p.eu/Matches/Match3.htm This seems to be the best live football site. But first you will need to download SOPCAST or perhaps TV ANTS (on left hand side of page). Download this way before game starts as it may take 20 or 30 mins. Then when the game is about to start just click on the link under Metalist v Everton. It really is very simple but the quality is sometimes crap with picture freezes etc. I watched the 1st leg this way. The first hour was great but then the picture started freezing and was annoying but still better than watching some vidiprinter. OH and its not guaranteed it will be English commentary, but perhaps thats not such a bad thing.
  3. Its not an exact science but I have noticed over recent seasons that many times when Liverpool lose and we get the chance to score some brownie points over them we tend to lose aswell. I hate to be superstitious but them losing to Marseille has me more worried about our game now. I KNOW its stupid and irrational but that is the very nature of superstitions. This is going to be a nerve wracking one. I would be happy with Stubbs on the pitch (handy for free kicks too). Jags on the bench please. Faddy and Yak up front. AJ to come on after 60 minutes (his pace will kill 'em off). Big Vic to come on if things get desperate. Have a feeling Pienaar will have a good game as will Arteta but that goes without saying. Phil Neville unfortunately will play but again I get the feeling he'll have a good one too. I have no doubt we will be the better side but it just comes down to whether we can put the ball in the net.
  4. I think he's saying he'd like to see Baines playing on the wing. Baines pozzi is left back and he's good there so shouldnt really be tried out of position but I can understand Sandmans reasoning. I think its just him wishing we would use wingers instead of lobbing hopeless balls in the box from the half way line. If thats the case then hes got a pretty good point.
  5. I've told you a million times, Do Not Exaggerate!! Remember the how high the ball used to bounce on them artifical pitches, laughable. Quite pleased with the draw. I'm sure its not going to be easy but we should do away with them. I'm sure they hate us coz we've knocked 'em out of a few things. Most notably in the '85 FA CUP semi final
  6. We did have pride but that was stolen away on Thursday. Its up to the team to restore our pride not us to magically pluck it from thin air.
  7. So Villa eh! Many wont beable to see a victory at Villa Park especially if we play like we did v Metalist. So, which Everton team will turn up? I'm preparing myself for more long ball stuff. I think Moyes is lucky this one is away because he'd cop some shit from the crowd if it was at Goodison. It would be nice if after the game this forum is singing the praises of a forward or midfielder rather than the defence (as good as they are).
  8. Bloody Hell, I got up at 5am to watch that crap. Its now 4pm in Melbourne and Ive been pissed off all day. I know its only 1-1 and all to play for etc but that really was fucking disappointing today (excuse the language). The best thing about living out here now is that I dont have to put up with any reds giving plenty of stick. I dont miss that and dont envy you lot going to work (or school) on the Friday. We desperately needed someone to put their foot on the ball in midfield and the only players that'll do that for us are Arteta and Tommy G. I hope they are both fit and start in the 2nd leg.
  9. So did you get that lift? If so, I bet you wish you'd stayed at home.
  10. I was going to guess it was in a hot country. In mexico it gets VERY hot. I think the idea of the earth is to provide a cooler temperature on the pitch which will in turn probably help the grass. Dont think it would be appropriate in England.
  11. Carsley did fuck all?? Wasnt it he that ran into the box causing the 1st pen to be disallowed? Good old Carsley. Or was it Osman? I'm confused! Somewhere else it said Anichebe. Can someone tell me because I dont feel like watching it again.
  12. So some people say they will not go to Kirkby to watch Everton. Rubbish! You say that now but when (if) the time comes you will be there. Perhaps you will try and stay away initially but after a few games you'll be there. As for the argument that all kids in Liverpool will choose the to support the redshite, well thats utter bollocks too. Across the water on the Wirral do they all support Tranmere? NO!. As someone else said on here, those who choose not to go Kirkby are just cutting their nose off to spite their face.
  13. Gets a couple of ordinary results and quits. I reckon he was scared of losing his unbeaten home record. Surely hes going to walk straight into another job though. I dont like the bloke but I wouldnt object to him taking the England job.
  14. We do but only for Premier League matches. They dont show the Uefa cup here (disgraceful; and they call themeselves a sports loving country). They only show it from the semi-finals. I know EvertonTV is showing it but I keep hearing that games are available on the internet for free so I'm going to give that a go. If it doesnt work them it will be EvertonTV in the future.
  15. Where will I be sitting? 12,000 bloody miles away in Australia in front of the computer at 4.45am desperately trying to find a way to watch the game
  16. Talking of Scottish football I remember BILLY CONOLLY talking about the classified results coming through on the radio and saying that for years he thought PARTICK THISTLE were actually called PARTICK THISTLE NIL.
  17. I think it will be tough. Does anyone know who the ref is going to be? because if its one of them who kiss Fergies arse then we'll be in a bit of bother. I hope not but i have a feeling the ref may play a big part in the outcome
  18. Theres a good chance we'd be included but i dont know if i'd say "virtually certain". Afterall one of the criteria mentioned was regular European football. That would rule us out then would it not?
  19. Never cared too much about Scottish football but as a pre-pubescent lad I liked Dundee & Dundee Utd simply because I liked the name (how lame is that). Dundee because they played in blue. Dundee Utd because Andy Gray played for them (I liked him even before he came to us). oh, and they were better than Dundee.
  20. The Fat Waiter from across the park has said it before about early kick offs and now he's crying once again that "its not fair". This time because Liverpool have to travel to away games after an international break (which they have to do 3 times this season apparently) one of which is travelling ALL THE WAY to Walton for the derby match at Goodison. What really annoyed me was his staement "It is important that we change the schedule for the top sides." WHY THE FUCK should the top sides get special treatment. Who does he think he is. He might as well come out and say "Please can you make it easier for Liverpool, we are too shit to win it on our own". It would be very satisfying, more so than ever, if they fail to finish in the top 4 this season.
  21. Why are we as Scousers (or ex-scousers in my case) so Boundary obsessed? Does the council boundary really mean so much to you/us. Kirkby is Scouse. The accent is Scouse. Its postcode is L32. Why arent coucil boundaries as important elsewhere like in London or even here in Melbourne where people either dont know or dont care where the council boundaries are. I do understand why we'd want to stay within the boundaries but the Kirkby stadium site is a mere 700 yards or so from the LCC boundary. I think the main reason we dont want to move is the abuse that will come from the R/S and this is totally understandable. Now that is something I dont miss being 12,000 miles away from.
  22. As a former Liverpool resident now living in Australia I feel my opinion is not quite worth as much as those that go to the game week-in-week-out. But I'll have my say anyway. Kirkby design isnt all that bad. Sorry Goldfish but they are certainly better than the Goodison re-development plans I've seen. It appears your anti-Kirkby stance is clouding your judgement. Having said that I am not pro-Kirkby myself. If the loop site is possible I think that provides a much stronger base for the club and will generate more money but the fact that it looks like a maximum crowd capacity would be only 60,000 would mean another potential move for Everton in 20 years time or so. I would love a re-developed Goodison but it would have to be better than the plans I saw. In fact Goodison would probably need raised to the ground as a major overhaul would be necessary especially being so close to the space ship on Stanley Park. Dont want to be overshadowed by them do we. The prob with a Goodison Re-development would be where do we play while that is happening?
  23. The very fact that people are talking and asking "are we a Protestant of Catholic team" should tell you straight away that we are NEITHER. Otherwise it would be common knowledge one way or the other. Celtic and Rangers, everyone knows because it is relevant and an issue. They take sides up there. Down in England we dont. Everton and Liverpool have supporters of both Catholic and Protestant faiths (and many people of neither faith). Not sure about the "Priests team" tag that BlueInValencia mentioned. Never personally have took any interest in St. Lukes Church at the corner of Goodison but isnt that C of E? And as it has been mentioned already on here, EFC were started by a group of Protestants, the Methodists. There are arguments to support both sides perhaps this suggests that Religion plays no real part in our past and most certainly not our future. Please can we keep this destructive religion issue north of the border. It plays no part at Everton or Liverpool. We have Catholic supporters, we have Protestant supporters, we have many that dont believe in God and probably a few of other faiths too. All are welcome at the Church of Everton FC.
  24. YES Pompey v LFC is on and so is EVERTON v MAN UTD but is a "live & active" game. This means you'll need Foxtel Digital to activate it. It starts at 9pm. I believe it is on the same channel as the Pompey v LFC game and also Arse v Tott which is also an active game and starts at 10 or 10.30. If you are referring that because there are other games on it wont be shown down the Charles Dickens. By 9pm the A league game wouldve finished AND the landlord of the Dickens is a Man Utd fan so I'm sure given the choice he'd show EFC v Man U. Pompey v LFC will just have to be relegated to the small telly in the corner.
