  1. Not entirely true. He did say how DM is a great manager for giving young players opportunities.
  2. who just the other day said he was staying because he owed it to Rennes, then reported he wanted to move to feed his family!!!
  3. Don't believe everything you read in the press.
  4. No, what it says is that Everton are the other club from liverpool. Just in case the french don't know where Everton are from.
  5. From todays echo. The club record pursuit of Portugal’s Joao Moutinho remains on track, while Diego Milito has given the broadest hint yet that he will be the man who replaces Andrew Johnson in Everton’s attack. Echo Sport first revealed on July 8 that the Argentine international was on Moyes’ wanted list and now Milito has opened the door on a move to Goodison by indicating he expects to leave Real Zaragoza, who were relegated last season. Everton have been working hard to bring Milito, who averaged a goal every other game last season and second top scorer in La Liga in 2006/07, and he is aware there is a keen interest in him. “When (Zaragoza) receive an offer that interests both sides, we will explore the possibility of a move,” said Milito. “It has been agreed that if an offer arrives for the good of both sides, we will study and evaluate the possibility of moving.”
  6. If you believe anything that's printed in the press, the Barcodes need to reduce their wage bill. Lets face it, they don't have many saleable assets on the pitch, and Keegan isn't the most astute of managers.
  7. He may well be part of the answer. Until the window shuts we won't know.
  8. In the Echo, Moyes quoted as saying, “If we need to go into the loan market again for some players, then we will do so. We are going to need players for the squad. “But that doesn’t mean I’m not still looking to bring in the three or four players for big money that can make us better.” Looks like he's going to have his work cut out.
  9. Doesn't always follow. A good manager should always look to get maximum return for minimum outlay, based on the resources available. I would like to think this transfer was in the offing before we sold AJ and that the money from that sale is being used to invest in other targets.
  10. Agreed, but there are always going to be players who don't cut it at one club yet do at another. At Leeds he was awesome, at United he was unlucky with injuries and at a club like that where they have money to replace you at the click of a finger he was always going to struggle to regain his place. At Newcastle he played under crap management, and with weak players around him. No wonder his form was on a continual downward slide. Moyes has obviously been an admirer of Smith for a long time and I believe Moyes when he says he won't settle for 2nd best. Provided this isn't our only signing, i'll reserve judgement untill after he's played a few games.
  11. I know that most of you are sceptical about anything i might have to say on this fella, but i did message Romey 1878 the other day telling what little I knew of his character, and the fact that he was negative towards the prospect of leaving Rennes. From what I have heard, he's a young 22 year old, with concerns i would image a lot of professionals in their early career would have about being being good enough. Yes I know he is an international and yes I know that if someone wants to pay a lot of money for you it shows they have confidence in you. The fact is that he is settled in Rennes and at Stade Rennais. The club have no need to sell, (a very wealthy owner), and the fans love him. He is in a position where he doesn't have to make any choices right now.
  12. absolutely 100% genuine. I knew if I posted, someone would react that way, and to be honest I thought twice about posting because of it. My girlfriends Grandparents live within spitting distance of Stade Rennais home ground on the Route de Lorient, so i have a passing interest. M'bia's ex works at a branch of the Credit Mutual de Bretagne, the bank M'bia banks at. She's known him since he moved to Rennes in 2004 to play for the B team. They are still friends and they still talk. When I visited Brittany about 6 weeks ago i was told about the Man U interest. The girl in question was asking all about Manchester as a place to live. My girlfriend and her mate were very excited about the possibility of both living in England. if i hear any more, maybe i will let those of you who are interested know.
  13. I have been trying to get some insider info on this one all evening. My girlfriend is from Rennes, and her best friend is an ex girlfriend of M'bia. Between them the two girls know little about football, but i have managed to get a small amount of info. Man U were sniffing around him about 6 weeks ago. And this is the important one, he is currently in China (Olympic duty) so I doubt it's going to be a transfer that is resolved soon, if at all. I'm trying to persuade the girls to dig a bit deeper. i will keep you posted.
  14. you gotta love them. problem is they'd give up all rights to playing in Europe anyway!!
  15. 1st post would have to be a real nerdy one but...................... it's on the 1st sunday after the 1st full moon after the spring equinox. i think it could possibly only ever be 2 days earlier and probably not in our life time
