  1. if he really did fly in today i would shat myself....no lie...ive done it for less and moutinho while he wouldnt transform our team would give us strength in depth, quality in midfield, and a captain who knows what it feels like to win a league excited about this if its true..
  2. i live in cardiff and am a bluebird as well as a toffee (so well pissed that portsmouth beat everton and cardiff so far this year ) and i can tell you without a shadow of doubt city can not afford to lose ledley and wont be bringing anyone else in who can do what he does. However, a january loan seems feasible, and a lot of mates who are city fans go on about how hard it will be to hold onto him, kind of the same as ramsey going to arsenal... wouldnt get our hopes up over this one to be fair, sorry guys
  3. would have had obinna on the left surely hes a left footed winger -----------------------------------Howard---------------------------------- Neville------------Lescott---------------------Yobo----------------Baines -----------------------------------Castillo----------------------------------- Osman--------------------------------------------------------------Obinna -----------------Arteta--------------------------Cahill--------------------- ---------------------------------Yakubu------------------------------------- Thats how id have it anyway
  4. I'm sure they do because he's barely played, thats the point. He's been an injury prone player, but this came well out of left field, which says either moyes is desperate and clutching at straws or hes done this under the table secured a good fee for a player who is great when on form. Like people have said moyes brings out the best in players, and theres plenty in the squad you don't expect to hold their own at prem level but they do, yes saha won't get us a champs league spot and be the best striker in the world, hell be one who will play between 10-20 games and get goals in over half, that's something we need. Vaughan is a telnted yougn striker who we can feature in some of the games, anichebe is in teh same bracket, and the yak will start most of are games. What this says to me is moyes wants the yak to stay on form and knows he needs relief up front, so expect saha (again if fit) to feature in carling and uefa cup matches prominently as well as matches against less threatening sides, or maybe more threatening sides considering his goal record against the bigger teams, in the prem. I don't give a shit if van der meyde spent all his time on the bench, i have faith in moyes because he is one of the best managers in the EPL, and will bring everton through this difficult period. If he believes saha will help, i trust him. Everton have seen rougher times and worse signings than this so lets try and make the most of it instead of just bitch about his appearance total.
  5. shocked at some of the crap people are talking baout saha.... yes he is injury prone, and yes that could be problematic given that we have a few injured players, but there's a slight difference to saha and VDM, because when saha is fit he's class, and will get the goals, we've got vaughan and anichebe to back up the yak on the occasions when he's not available or simply not firing, and so far the yak has got 2 in 2 games. Plus if Saha is fit, i agree with the idea of partnering him up front, and running arteta cahill osman and a DM in midfield. End of the day Moyes was clearly fighting an uphill battle this transfer window, and i was delighted to see that we had signed anyone, let alone 3 players, 2 of which have good track records. I hate people being pessimistic about new signings, you have no idea how they'll turn out, yes it could be that moyes made a huge mistake saha never comes off injury and we end up wasting money on a player that will barely play. On the other hand, Saha could stay fit all season, net 20 goals and get us european football for another year. You don't know anymore than I do all you can do is assume, based on his history, and I'm looking at it, and when he was fit he fired off his fair share of shots so why moan about it? end of the day i'm sure moyes is making the best of a bad situation and this considering the lack of activity isn't a bad signing... yes i would love to see moutinho or M'Bia join, yes i would love it if he added 2 or 3 midfielders to the ranks and actually gave us a solid starting team every week, but we only just lost to blackburn and we took 3 points from west brom, and this is with a bench full of youngsters and 2 on the field, so why wouldn't adding a solid DM, CF and RB bee beneficial to us? personally the only downside is if it turns out there all completely shat pank, but i doubt it, moyes isn't an idiot.....
  6. dead post as it was posted above^^^ but again though is moyes looking to play 5-4-1 by bringing in 2 defenders?
  7. great young talent im sure, but we need a midfielder. Moyes is securing our defensive options, which tells me he plans on moving jags and neville into midfield, big mistake in my opinion. We need experienced skilled mifielders, not a shift around of ones weve already got.
  8. SWP isn't coming, I'd take milner anyday. Watched him in the carling cup last night, he scored and set up a goal, granted it was againts coventry but he's exactly the type of player we need, both pienaar and arteta can play central, and probably prefer it, and milner made some great runs up the left. Stick him out far left, osman on the right, and arteta and cahill central and we'll have a strong midfield. Add M'Bia in defense mid and 4-5-1 we have a team capable of securing european football again, if not taking us a lot further in the cup games, and we have another midfielder which we desperately need. £5m? the lad at this point is worth at least 7-8 mil to us, I'd easily go to 9 if we can get him before pompey on saturday...
  9. add to that list the rest of the top 4.....manure will need a striker, chelsea are just after robinho at the mo, and if they do get him wright-phillips price may drop, RS are looking for wide players which is why there going for riera and wont need a player like him, in fact the only competition well see are from teams desperate for players who havent already signed....which isnt that many... I think we're in with a chance but thinking about what were goign for and what we may get his price well mean everything. I wouldnt be surprised if our rep went over there wearing a sandwich board that said "ONLY A LOAN WILL DO". My days...we need a player like this desperately but given that our first transfer was a free i doubt were very strong in the financial department.... we'll soon see, no good making assumptions as with most of em theyve fallen through but i have a feeling moyes will sign at least another 2 before next week otherwise he knows well barely make it to january and then itll be loans all over again.....in my view its worth us taking a massive risk, and spending all our money on a star midfielder like moutinho to reinvigorate the squad, it could be a colossal mistake but id like to secure 1 outstanding player over 3 average players any day. we already have half dozen great players in the squad, it should be mroe geared around adding to that list than trying to cover an injury burdened team... looking at how convulted that post was i can easily understand how difficult moyes has had it to be fair
  10. i agree with practically everything you just said brother this shit is ridiculous. I mean i may be ignorant to how much money we have/have not got to pay out, but to be fair, this guy fits our needs, hes young and talented and is willing to come to us for much lower than you would expect. Now we originally bid £11 mil for moutinho, given that the 10.5 from aj was supposed to go into the transfer budget, i can only assume we have around £22mil to spend on players. If the max this will do is bring us down to £14mil, why not do it?? I am a dedicated evertonian, my dad was a supporter and i have always been a supporter. Due to certain events in my teenage years i became a lapsed fan and thus didn't watch/involve myself in football as much, but since 3 years ago i have been back into it and this is the first time ive been on a board to talk about the team. Moyes is a great manager dont get me wrong, but there are plenty of players available out there for very decent prices, and im ashamed that up until now all weve had are excuses when we should be hearing that yet another player has signed for us. We need a player like M'Bia and i don't see how his enthusiasm, the mangers want to let him go, and our transfer budget cannot accomodate a player that would be invaluable at this point to us. I know that a lot of the transfer activity usually happens in the last 2 weeks and this has been an unusually quiet year on the transfer front, but still, Moyes needs to think about his options if we don't sign, and he doesnt need to clutch at straws when he has players begging to join the team. I come on here and sky sports everyday constantly looking for updates and all i get is arteta saying we can pull through or another injury report. As much as i love everton, i really cant understand what could be the problem here, especially with M'Bia. With a high price player like moutinho i can understand but a footballer that thinks £23k a week is high pay, comparative to what some of the others earn, should already be part of our squad. Im hoping ill check sky sports tomorrow to here that hell be flying in for a medical on friday and will be in the WBA game on saturday but really im fooling myself. Most likely well go down to the 31st and be biting our nails because we STILL dont have anyone.... sorry for the rant im quite soused and this should be a done deal by now, its bloody annoying
  11. Mbia, who can also fill in as a centre-half or a right-back, has two years left on his contract at Rennes. that is the best news in this situation. Even though he is injured when he is fit, he can cover centre-half of which we only have 3 players, right back, of which we have 2, and defense mid, of which we have none. I hope this signing goes through, even if its the only one, he is probably one of the most useful players we could go for.

  13. ah well, no harm no foul. we do need a lot of players though. Rodwell and Baxter, while good as they are, will not get us to 5th. We need to fill out positions quickly and free transfers are the best to get our numbers up. maybe not gravesen, but it cant hurt to add numbers. Id rather have a player like gravesen on the bench than i would untested academy players, i mean what happens if we go up against villa or newcastle, teams that looked strong at the weekend and have strengthened their squad, with youth players? if we dont imrpove the squad we will get eaten alive, and i prefer to have experienced players on the bench than inexperienced. I mean our starting team of Howard, Lescott, Yobo, Baines, Hibbert, P. Neville, Arteta, Osman, Pienaar, Cahill, Yakubu is already their albeit injured, but we need subs that will match experienced and team work. Just an idea
  14. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11787_4005828,00.html granted he didnt set our world on fire when he came back on loan but if were saying hes a free agent why the hell not? He'll add to our nunbers and give us a reprieve while we struggle to get the players we need. Moyes is refusing to panic and waiting for the big names first. Why don't we just pick up TG again and at least have some semblance of a squad?
  15. besides arsene wenger is a kiddie fiddler and that guy is always in the top 4, so we have a few 16/17 year olds, vaughan ring a bell? how bout rooney? these guys broke records for youngest players to score in the league, whose says baxter can't.... its a bad situation but it's hardly the worst, we'll probably get knocked out of europe but that will let us focus on getting 4th. And CSKA and sporting and half the other clubs might feel differently in the next transfer window, up untilt hen we dont have too bad a run fo games that we cant keep up....
  16. no reason we shouldn't have got this guy, unless it's his salary, but moyes has to be realistic that signing players nowadays means what you pay out annually is gonna increase exponentially (sp? fuck it im hungover <_< ) vagner and the yak could make a good partnership and it would at the least give us more options up front. cant help but think this is all wayne rooneys fault....
  17. in fairness to moyes, we didn't get yakubu until the last day of transfers last year. he was our top goalscorer. where would we have been if we hadnt got him. and thats still a good 3 weeks away. who says moyes wont go nuts on the last day and flush 25 mil out for some striker we've vaguely heard of who comes in and blows the premiership to shit..... or maybe moyes will just stick it all in his pocket and run.
  18. QFT we need numbers in the midfield especially given that pienaar is now injured, and to be honest even if he is low on the priority list, last time I checked the priority was new players who will strengthen the squad. At the end of the day if we field a squad in 4-5-1 of Howard, Lescott, Yobo, Baines, Hibbert, Neville, Osman, Arteta, Cahill, Pienaar (or maybe 2 defensive mids with jagielka on) and yak up front, we have a solid, combative side able to challenge the upper eschelons of british football. What we need to focus on is resting that squad for important matches, so against lesser opponents we need to field players of similar or lower abilities to keep that flowing. Larsson fits that mould and given that are 5 first matches are 3 championship teams away and pompey and blackburn at home we have a nice breathing space in which to implement these players. No more than 3, but no less of a good player for it. Moyes really does need to sign at least 4 now though, with the amount of injuries we've sustained, are suffering, and will probably suffer down the line. M'Bia would be a brilliant purchase and gives us strength, Moutinho is overpriced but worth is weight in gold and the same goes for Vagner Love, but the odds of us securing these guys are pretty slim. In my opinion we need a backup goalie, a right back, a defense mid, a left mid, a center mid, and a striker. In reality, we can cope without a backup goalie until the next transfer window, we can play neville in right back with ease, have enough strength to function without the addition fo a new center mid (as long as arteta can be allowed to play central and work his magic). Another striker and mid are necessities though, unless he really does plan on doing a wenger and bringing in rodwell and baxter, and utilising vaughn and anichebe heavily this season. Overall we're not in the fire yet, but we're certainly out of the frying pan. Where we land depends on who moyes can land in the next 3 weeks.
