  1. ditto off the ball the yak is crap, and walks about creating no pressure, vaughan will run rings around em forcing them to act fast and make it easier to create chances which he will most likely finish off. A must for saturday.
  2. anyone see the game? did he play well? i think because fellaini is missing hell be in contention for saturday but i dont know what moyes is thinking...
  3. i disagree. I think given proper coaching and development he could easily be world class, and the only reason he's not playing for chelsea is because he has to comepte with carvalho, terry and alex...and how many goals have the chelsea defence conceeded so far? if he came here by next year id much prefer him over yobo and lescott for centre half
  4. bill takes the prize! mike if you really want a third of a year old jaffa cake that was behind my sofa then ask bill nicely and maybe he'll share........
  5. cheers guys by the way my user name doesn't have any great meaning, it is from my favourite song by my favourite band, a prize to anyone who knows it
  6. So I'm The Regulator, or Martyn as I'm known, I'm 21 from Cardiff, Wales and I support Everton F.C and Cardiff City respectively. Some cardiff fans may say then I'm not a true blue, but Everton is where my passion lies and always will, while Cardiff has always been in the background. I guess I'm not so new now but i wanted everyone to get a formal introduction just to say that I've done one. I'm A Customer Service Monkey for Tesco Call Centre, a position that I'm not exactly over the moon about, but money is money. I haven't been able to get to many everton games but I watch whenever I can. I originally came on here to read up about transfer news, but found that overall it's a good board to talk on for everything evertonian and I'm the kind to find a place and nest so I guess I'm here for a bit.
  7. Hibbert, Lescott, Arteta and the Yak should all be benched for west ham. Neville, Baines, Pienaar, and Vaughan can deal with wham much easier, and be much more of a threat going forward. Arteta has been too slow, and his skill is undermined by his finishing. We've relied on him too much and it's starting to show. He needs a game off.
  8. Frustrated at his lack of opportunities, he conceded he may have to leave the club for the benefit of his career. On 27 October 2008, he found the chance to gain playing time when he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan until 29 December 2008. Mancienne made his début in Wolves' 2-1 win over Swansea City the next day, replacing Carlos Edwards as an 81st minute substitute. His first starting appearance for Wolves came in the 2-1 away victory at Ninian Park against Cardiff City in which he was Man of the Match. yeah, man of the match at ninian park, and fair play he is showing signs of being an amazing centre half for the future, since his contract expires halfway through the year, i'd loved to see Everton loan him and then buy him this season. Already gaining a lot of experience, and a powerful figure, he can also cover right back where necessary, so i'd flog hibbert off onto some scotch side where he belongs and get in someone who an actually give yobo and lescott a run for their money. Him and Jagielka as our centre halfs woudl become a fearsome defence by next year.
  9. if we want a player that has played absolute shit we may as well stick with the squad we've got.. wolves centre back mancienne (sp?) if thats his name, is much better. Looked amazing against cardiff and is a very promising youngster. Ill get some facts on him later, but he would be much cheaper, and much more efficient than this overpriced piece of shit.
  10. Arteta needs to know he does not have a definate place, same as lescott, i think baines and pienaar down the left would be a lot more solid, but it wont happen.
  11. I'm with Mike on this one. To be honest, every team in the league has bad spells or turns in shit performances, because nobody's perfect. At the end of the day, this time next year you won't be talking about how well we played against fulham or bolton, youll be saying well we had 6 points from those games....and isn't that what counts? Yes we have played absolute bunk, but will you look at why? we got 5 players, only 2 of which have actually came in to play mroe than a few games for us, so all we really did over summer was lose 2 important players and replace them with ones who were struggling to find their feet, then we got knocked out of the mickey mouse cup and the euro cup because we barely had a team to throw together, our confidence dropped and we played shit as a result. We're now coming off the back of 2 victories, and if we make it a 3rd on saturday then we'll start getting back to our attacking flow. But our midfield have had to play a lot deeper because of our leaky defence and therefore we havent created as many chances as we used to. I think mike pointed out bolton and fulham's unlikely wins as a point of saying that teh start of teh season is never a fair judge of who isgood and who is bad, because there are many mixed results. After christmas we will have a cleaer indication, and as of now we are not at our best but we are getting the needed points so we need to build from that...
  12. we are bunking this game up by miles...fucking hell why cant we even beat bolton?!?!?!
  13. personally im not comfortable with wasting 2 strikers where one will do, the problem isnt that saha or the yak cant score its that they dont get enough goal scoring opportunities, having a 4-5-1 means we can play a substanstial midfield and play better football, while 4-4-2 allows us space and time to defend as well as attack. The only problem with 4-5-1 compared to 4-4-2 is defensively, because usually the side midfielders play a lot higher up and they dont track back as much. I hope im wrong but moyes has used 4-5-1 a lot in the past and given we have 4 strikers compared to 7 midfielders hell want to bench saha probably due to his injury proneness and not field nich and vaughan because theyre still to young. I agree pienaar had been a bulldog ive just seen times in the past when people who work hard (baines, pienaar etc) have been passed over in favour of maintaing a certain balance. I just hope moyes really understands that we came back at united mainly after neville dug deep and hit that challenge, and that he needs to encourage his players to be powerful and aggresive on the pitch. Thats why people are afraid to play us, because in attack we have little creativity but a lot of power, and defensively we have players who will dig their studs in and hold them off. It isnt basketball after all, we need to go back to playing good old fashioned british " Come and have a go if you think i wont break your leg and give your sister a scabby rash" football.
  14. moyes is not a man to drop those playing poorly or reward those playing well. Howard will start in goals Hibbert will be RB even though hes shit, jags yobo and lescott fill out the back four even though baines should play Neville, Fellaini, Cahill, Arteta and Osman will make the midfield The Yak up front Bench: Nash, Baines, Castillo, Rodwell, Pienaar, Vaughan, Saha Moyes will automatically swicth to 4-5-1 because thats what he likes us playing, and he will try and make it work, Osman although he played poo will stay in teh team ahead of peinaar, and the yak who just isnt scoring will not score again. Second half 74th minute after conceeding a goal, moyes will bring saha and pienaar on for hibbert and osman, neville will go right back and saha will go upfront, we will dink a goal in around 79 and then if were lucky the 84th 2-1 win to us but not deserved because well play shit for 45 mins and people will then start worrying if we can beat fulham or not
  15. i expect 28 points from the next 10 games
  16. 0-1 fletcher scored......off to a flying start then boys <_<
  17. forgot to add this as well, on wiki if you look at both Red Star Belgrade and Club Deportivo El Nacional, under famous or important players for the clubs, Castillo is noted on both, and both these teams won the league while he was playing for them. Moyes obviously made a good move in egtting him, so its time to give him a chance.
  18. got this from the mother of all integrity, wikipedia: Castillo started his career with Quito's Club Deportivo ESPOLI spending 3 years with the team, scoring a decent 11 goals in 66 appearances. He then moved across the capital to one of Ecuador's most successful sides Club Deportivo El Nacional, with whom he won successive league titles in 2005 and 2006. He again scored 11 goals in 112 matches for the club.[1] In August 2006 he moved abroad, signing a two year deal with Serbian side Red Star Belgrade.[3] He scored 8 goals during his first season at his new club and was a key player when the team won the double in 2007.[citation needed] In total he scored 18 goals in 72 games, an average of a goal every four games. In August 2008 Castillo joined English Premier League club Everton on a year-long loan deal to become Everton's second signing of the summer transfer window.[4] In an interview, he stated his desire to win the UEFA Cup for his new club.[5] He made his league début on 14 September 2008 against Stoke City. He scored his first goal for the Toffees on his home début against Standard Liege on September 18, 2008 at Goodison Park.[6] now obviously he's not going to win us the uefa cup, but, he played in the first team for a club that won teh league title twice, and then moved to a club where they won the double. Worthy of a chance in my book.
  19. again fellaini has played in every game we've had him available for. He has had a chance to mix with the players, get to know the team and style of play, adapt to the EPL and develop. We haven't given castillo the time of day, and the way you talk it's like he doesn't even deserve a game with us, but i'd rather have neville in right back and castillo on the pitch than sticking phil in midfield where he doesn't belong and putting hibbert in right back. There are some players who have proved they deserve a sport in the first tesam, there are some who are playing well but don't get a chance and there are some who have been written off before they get a chance to settle. I never said Castillo will answer all our prayers, or deserves to be in the first team every game, I was annoyed that after 2 games we've resigned him to an emergency spot, only if every other option is exhausted do we look to him, it can hardly be a confidence booster for a new player, and unless your a player liek robinho who can come in and make an impact from the off you need time to get used to your surroundings. He's in a new country, in a new league, with a new team, and has played just 2 games. I think writing him off as a bad player is ridiculous, and saying he can't pass based on 2 games is unfounded, given that any player can have a bad game, and given the circumstances, he was probably still trying to get used to everything. This can happen if you get a plyer on the last day of transfers, and don't give them time to even get to know the team their now playing in. I think he deserves a chance, maybe against bolton, to show what he's made of. If after that he shows the kind of qualities you snub him by then fair enough, but to me if we've signed him and we're losing games, why not?
  20. again he'd just started playing with a new team, if we don't give players a chance to play how do we expect them to settle and show us their best? Fellaini was hardly inspiring when he first started playing, certainly took more than 2 games
  21. sorry, how many times did he actually play? i remember seeing him on the pitch twice...i may be mistaken.....and one of those times he scored
  22. Even if we're not saying drop everyone, we need competetion for places to get people motivated. If felliani thinks he'll be starting every match it will make him complacent, if he thinks he may not get a place he'll play that much better to cement his place. The Yak needs dropping for sure, he's been lazy as of late, and i think vaughan or anichebe need a start, at least a chance to do what we know they can.
  23. That being said how do we expect him to settle and play well if we give him 2 games in which to prove himself? @dangermouse: i agree about not dropping fellaini, which is another reason he may not have featured because fellaini is not well suited to 4-5-1 it seems....he needs space in midifield to operate which means a 4-4-2 is the default ption when playing him....still i think casti could feature when cahill is back if fellaini cant play, a 4-5-1 with osman arteta pienaar and cahill with casti as defense mid would work, again i think he should at least get a run-in to see if he can do anything....
  24. well it doesn't matter what he's defined as, as every other everton player has found out, moyes will play you in any position he wants at the end of the day, jags was a midfielder in our first game..........
