  1. Plus we play 4-5-1, to have Nugent leading us at the front would be embarrasing tbh. If he comes in along with another striker fair enough, if he's there to shore up the numbers since anichebe and saha will probably both struggle with fitness this season then fine, but if this is our main replacement striker then I'll be more than disappointed.
  2. Sounds like an unabashed striker to me, if he can do the same here I'd gladly have him for 1.5
  3. does not compute..... we should have won, a draw was fair but a loss.....8 games 1 win...home form desperately needs to improve....next home game chelsea...shite
  4. Oh dear, although knowing moyes he'll put vdm on ahead of castillo and where is rodwell?
  5. the three examples of newcastle spurs and man city are important ones, Newcastle are in turmoil but if they get sold they will the funds and there not losing games as of late, theyre just not winning them. Newcastle always finish mid table but we have bounced up and down from season to season. Moyes is on about consistent finishing. The only way to challenge the big four is to consistently finish just below them so that when one does slip up and one always does, arsenal have done it this season, there within spitting distance. Man City now have billions to buy whoever the fuck they want, and everyone has a price, so only an idiot will think man city won't soon have half a dozen big name players at the sacrifice of some of lesser players, and Spurs have a manager that has completely reformed the team and is not short on cash. Both teams will rapidly increase their pursuits to climb and will be a threat in future seasons. Moyes needs to spend 30m because of situations like this, yes he can spend nothing and get the best out of it, but look how small our squad is when we just get cheap options. Look at the quality of players those 3 teams have at disposal in front of goal (Ameobi, Martins, Owen, Pavyluchenko, Bent, Campbell, Elano, Benjani, Robinho, Jo) compared to us (Saha, Anichebe). If moyes had 30mil we could afford Tevez, or Podolski and Love, or Hunterlaar or Arshavin. Proven strikers at their peak that would net us goal after goal. If Moyes is going for frees who've we got to choose from (Fat Ronaldo, Heskey etc) people who won't get us goals. Having money opens up a market to players of world-class quality and to say that everton is world-class and can compete with teams that can fill their squad with these players is absurd. We can get 5th, but we won't win uefa and we won't finish higher with the size and quality of the squad we have. Manure's reserves beat a full strength blackburn, we simply don't have the size of squad to field a team like that. There is no denying the bigger teams have more dosh and thus better players, there's still football to play, work still has to be done and you're not guarunteed victory but it's a lot bloodier likely to happen with big names in your squad, that much is self evident.
  6. we are known for poaching from united but to be fair i can't see moyes getting any kids in. He'll want if he has the option that is, to get in strikers who have at least some experience at playing at top level, otherwise it's a gamble. Welbeck's one performance, even with a great goal, was against a dejected stoke side already a few goals down, so it's hardly proof that he'll be a consistent striker. And all we really want is consistency. If they can hit the target half a dozen times in a game, there's half a dozen chances it could go in. I agree with Park though, him and Nani have been my favourite manure players this past year, park works his arse off and nani shits over full backs when he plays. I'd love to see park here but with manure in all competitions at the moment and with scholes and giggs close to finishing their careers I doubt Sir Alex would let go of one of his hardest working and dependable players.
  7. NO! He's been lifeless in front of goal as of late, he's injury prone and his wages are high.....if we're going for anyone from newcastle we should be looking at Martins...

  9. I don't agree with this mentality that a new owner will only come in after we have a new stadium.....personally I think the best thing EFC can do at this point is focus on the football.....the more games we win the more fans turn up....the better we do in the league the better our chances at europe...the better we do in europe the more players will want to play for us...the betetr players we get the better the team more shirt sales bigger fan base more revenue and so on and so forth... losing to wigan isn't exactly going to get us loads more fans, but I think if we focus on getting 5th this year and acheive it, and make the most out of the FA cup we stand a much better chance at procuring revenue... More to the point if a billionaire sees how well everton is doing and the prospect of how well they could do in the future they will invest in us....stadium or no stadium...
  10. why did we sell him? where's your common sense? We sold AJ this summer, but do you honestly think moyes wanted to? He probably did everything he could to avoid the transfer but realised we've got fuck all money to get players we needed. AJ isn't the best striker in the world but I'd have rather have kept him here. Mcfadden isn't the best striker in the world either, but I'd rather get someone I know is reliable than scouring for a top class striker that probably won't come here anyway. Saha when fit is as good as any of them, and Anichebe will fill in where necessary. A striker like mcfadden wouldn't run through the big 4 and get us mountains of goals, but teams like bolton/sunderland/wigan/west brom/stoke/hull/west ham he could rip through. Looking at the other games in the league so far everyone is hot and cold which means it won't just be decided by the name on the back of your shirt; we have a midfield that will net us enough goals, a defence that won't let many through, and a striker who will probably get more than a dozen even with his haphazard fitness. Consistency is what we need, not a big name transfer that justs wants to play in the prem and will bolt at the mention of a big european club. We can't afford much anyway, so it's no good saying lukas podolski this and vagner love that, we simply won't get them.
  11. heskey? if it's a wooden donkey we're after I know a trojan who owes me a favour.....
  12. Soon as the champs league kicks in liverpool will give up the title chase, Man U and Chelski however will be up there fighting for a spot, and Arsenal may as well give up now even after their win at stamford bridge because theyve dropped essential points against a lot of lower table teams. The league is so close this year it's impossible to say where we'll end up, but Saha on form is world-class and Mcfadden, bit player as he was, still got goals out of nothing and gave us another player who could score from anything. We will depend on Saha but odds on we would never go back for mcfadden, he's too important to birmingham and he's not what we need right now. If we get a striker in jan of at least 1 every other game quality we might have a chance. Our midfield alone could net us up to 20 goals this season, maybe more.
  13. Moyes said he would consider cahill up front but only if there were no other option really. Anichebe and Jutkietwisc (stupid name to spell) are still options, and Saha is being assessed today. Plus he said he will look at loans in jan and since the russian season takes a big break we might get vagner love on loan.
  14. the same team that were inpenetrable at white hart lane and are 7th, 11 points off the top of the table? mate cheer the fuck up, we have a shocking game against wigan and now everyone thinks we're out of the running. Arteta had an injury all through last year, he had an op, and he's yet to find his best but he can do a lot better it justs takes patience. Cahill also had an op and players rarely return to their best form after having corrective surgery, because it doesn't feel the same. Again he will come good. Pienaar has suffered injury, so has saha, and osman's had some niggling ones. Fellaini is in his first season with us, and barely speaks english, yobo had trauma with his brother before the season and so was out of focus, and lescott has in all fairness had nothing to excuse his absolute shite play but he pulled his socks up today and defended well against some of the fastest players in the prem. All these players are yet to hit their peak this season, and we still have more than half to go, so dyu mind saving your cynicism for when we're in the relegation zone, and start dropping points left right and centre, because at the moment 4 points off a champions league spot isnt exactly crap We probably will put a few reserves out against macclesfield but theyll be rodwell, gosling etc who are already on the bench. With our squad as thin as it is i don't see us going full strength against a team like macclesfield. And we'll probably win regardless so as I said cheer up and look onwards and upwards, everton are bulldogs they won't stop fighting and this year, despite our striker crisis, is looking as good as last year, especially since the prem is so close every win propels us up the table bring on the 3rd round of the FA cup, COYB!
  15. I'm not surprised that Villa drew with Fulham because fulham away from home have been a very good side. Liverpool could only draw with em as well. Villa are as unpredictable as us when it comes to results, moreso away from home. They've won against Tottenham, Wigan, West Brom and Arsenal, and they lost against Chelsea, Stoke and Newcastle. The way their away season is going theyre actually due a loss in the next game. While our home form has been poor at best, off the heels of today's win we will be brimming with confidence, especially at the back. i think the key is having the seniors who were so influential last year all playing at once. With our striker shortage this could very well be the case. Cahill, Osman, Arteta and Pienaar are all used to playing with each other, and it showed today that they all have there importance. We didn't have pienaar against wigan, but as soon as he came back look at the impact he made. That will fill the boys with a confidence to play as well as they have done in the past and he does add a lot of creativity to the team that we've been lacking all season. Villa will test us as they didn't just beat the aforementioned teams away they hammered 'em. Arsenal and Wigan especially. So we can't underestimate them but at the same time I think people are making far too much out of them this season. A lot of teams can start of with a good spell, but it doesn't mean that theyre suddenly title contenders. Villa are still villa, top ten yes, invincible hardly. As long as we play with confidence we will get through them fairly easily, however we will not be very aggresive going forward so I see a late goal or 2 from us and an early one from them. 2-1 or 1-1. Too early to tell at this point.
  16. ^^^I think you can mate^^^^ cardiff lost 2 strikers in a weekend and we had chopra on loan before the next game. Point is, who will we get if we do?
  17. i think we're all well aware by now how valuable carsley was to us overkill a bit here man to be honest
  18. there must be a reason moyes isn't playing him. Seriously with the squad as thin as it is if he doesn't get a runout now he must be shit in training.
  19. The long ball kills us because A) we suck at it, it's a really crap way of playing football and C) it comes back to us twice as fast because it gives the opposition all the possesion. Why when neville has become half decent at crossing he insists on hoofing it is beyond me. In the last desperate few minutes yeah fine, but starting with aimless hoofing is a pathetic attempt at the game and makes us look so bad on the ball. If we had a good passing game the Yak might have more chances and therefore more goals. But we're severely laking pace as well, and the premier league is too fast to play at the speed we do.
  20. There was no Goodison park in 1894
  21. for the record we had: Howard, Hibbert, Yobo, Stubbs, Lescott, Osman, Carsley, Neville, Arteta, Anichebe, Johnson and won 3-1 huh
  22. personally i think we need to alternate fellaini and cahill, home and away. Our desperation to play both has left our midfield clogged and I don't think both can be played in a game. play fellaini in a 4-4-2 and play cahill in a 4-5-1. I'm trying to find our formation against spurs last year to see what we played because we thrashed em last time out.
