  1. I've yet to see proof of that <_<
  2. If he doesn't feature on saturday I've got to admit I'll be less than happy. At the start of the season we were in dire straits with injuries and lack of transfers, so we had rodwell and baxter playing. Come september 1st we had a right back, a defense mid, an attacking mid, a back-up goalie and a new striker. After Jacobsen got inujured, Neville as right back seemed the obvious choice, and Castillo playing in front of the defence felt like the most natural move, having someone in Lee Carsley's role who could also come forward on the attack. Now he's proven he can attack against Standard liege, but he's not been given any 1st team action since. How do people feel about this? To me he looks like a strong, confident and competetive player who could add a real oomph for lack of a better word to our midfield, but Moyes has hardly played him, and it just seems..........moronic. Why waste a good young player on the bench when he could be salvaging our absolutely dire defence, or at least be coming back to defend, unlike fellaini, arteta etc I doubt he will feature saturday which makes me all the more annoyed that moyes would waste time acquiring someone he doesn't use....
  3. Fellaini is already scoring for us, he's just not keeping up off teh ball. In my mind we still need a solid center mid to anchor the team, fellaini is an attacking mid, and we need someone who can stay in the center of the park and provide some stability and movment. God how we need moutinho........
  4. Man U Squad: Van Der Sar, Brown, Vidic, Ferdinand, O'Shea, Fletcher, Anderson, Giggs, Nani, Rooney, Berbatov Bench: C. Ronaldo, G. Neville, J. Evans, Tevez, Park Ji Sung, Rafael da Silva, Fabio da Silva Even if Ronaldo is alright Fergie won't risk him because he doesn't have to. Rooney is on fire, Berbatov has scored a brace recently and will be looking to add to it, and the rest of the team were solid against celtic. In short we're in trouble. If moyes is clever, he'll leave baines in left back, neville right back, castillo defense mid, and fellaini centre with osman right and arteta left, drop the yak and stick saha and vaughan up front. I have big doubts for this game....
  5. Bench: Hibbert, Yakubu Play: Castillo, Anichebe/Vaughan Nevilee at RB and a combo of these 3 getting some games, vaghan has been flying so far and needs some first team action, anichebe never fails for us and someone will bid for him soon enough unless we show we need him Castillo has been the most underused signing ever, and im surprised considering in both our games he was lethal, i think moyes needs to re-evaluate who he puts on the pitch and more importantly where
  6. Jagielka will simply have to play, there's no two ways about it. Our strongest team based on current form would be: Howard, Neville, Lescott, Jags, Baines, Fellaini, Osman, Arteta, Pienaar, Yakubu, Vaughan Subs: Nash, Turner, Valente, Hibbert, Rodwell, Saha, Baxter He better not stick rodwell in midfield again, ill be pissed off if that happens. I dont want hibbert at right back but he will most definately get played by moyes, neville will go into midfield and taht will put pienaar on the bench.
  7. i dont think anyone would disagree we need a bigger club but the money just isnt there, unfortunately were going to have to struggle trough with F all players until our youth players shine through and we can start selling to buy, or get bought by some new owners... I dont think your points are invalid, but we dont really need another english player, we have enough to field a full english squad, and owen wouldnt add anything to our game, besides a few goals, but thast all there would be, and we have goalscorers they just arent getting fed...thast why we need a more creative midfield and a sturdier defense...if anything we should be focusing on brining in midfielders ofa high quality, playmakers who will earn big wages by providing us with lots of goalscoring oppourtunities
  8. They have definately lost 2 key defenders in sanga and gallas, and bendtner isn't a great loss but it means he'll have fewer options up front. Fabregas and Van Persie are also doubts, but not great ones, we will probably be facing: Alumnia, Toure, Eboue, Clichy, Djourou, Fabregas, Diaby, Walcott, Denilson, Van Persie, Adebayour Thats still a pretty good team but then subs wise your talking: Fabianski, Song, Silvestre, Nasri, Ramsey, Vela and Bischoff (still recouperating) If we can hit em hard and get some good tackling football in well do well to keep em at bay let em flow with the ball and do what sunderland did, bring plenty of men behind the ball so attacks are stubbed out, tire out their players and then start attacking around the hour mark. a 1-0 to us would be a great acheivement.
  9. that's taken from here: http://www.evertonfc.com/david-moyes.html We finished 11 that season with an arguably weaker team than we have now, just thought it was worth thinking about given the poor start to this season and the similarities with the highlighted text
  10. i was just thinking we more than anything need a european CB, something with strength and experience, and a good head. Heitinga was the first one that sprang to mind he's brilliant. Love to see him here but we couldnt afford his wages let alone his transfer cost, we do a CB in january though, the jags/yobo/lescott trifecta needs someone with a bit more....how the french say....gumption. ill admit jags has it, but id like to see him paired with someone stronger and more aware. Lescott and yobo have been absent minded this season making silly errors.
  11. James Patterson - SAIL generic so far, would work well in a movie with tom hanks as some kind of lecturer stumbling upon an ancient mystery that could unravel the fabric of mankind's delicate psyche........ overall this book is ok, not great but has its moments, kind of like sex with debra messing......on a boat
  12. and Rocky IV .....unfortunately we don't have an italian with an american flag and we're not fighting boris johnson on steroids so i'm going to have to side with you on this one licker
  13. on the 0.001% percent chance a freak 6 or 7 nil thrasing goes to either team this will be our hardest match thus far.... the benefit of teh international break is also a downpoint when you consider arsenal are looking to get as high as possible in the rankings this year, with the RS chasing and chelsea going strong they'll need every win they can get.... It'll be one of 2 outcomes dependant soely on what arsenal bring: a draw, being a 1-1 and very dull affair, arsenal will play shit and we'll stay in possesion but pose no kind of threat, barely scaring a battle hardened defense with our stammering passing and eccentric hoofing style or a win, in which case we will get raped plain and simple, arsenal will bring the a team and the a game, adebayour and persie will start out with some glancing wide shots and well get lucky off a long range effort from osman or arteta, provoking the beast, who will then counter attack and score 3 or 4 with a good 20 minutes to spare to make us run around and get knackered, wenger possibly adding insult to injury by sticking vela on, a young talented propect who against our defence would probably become top goalscorer in a single game. the 0.001% is if we have miraculously recovered our previous form and shoot out of teh starting blocks with a unfettered focus to win, and decimate an ill prepared arsenal with a flush of goals, if it does go in our favour, imagine a 3-2 with arsenal pushing us to the last minute, that would be a good game, set us up well for manure.
  14. -------------------------Casillas-------------------------- Sergio Ramos-------Jagielka-----Heitinga--------Lahm ----------------------------M'Bia-------------------------- Maxi Rodriguez------------------------------------Arteta -------------------------David Silva---------------------- -----------Aguero----------------------Messi------------- Bench: Stekelenburg, Lescott, Fellaini, Pienaar, Cahill, Yakubu, Love dreaming but so what? ill make it my goal to have this as my team in pro evo after 2 seasons
  15. If moyes didn't have doubts i would have been worried....let's be fair......whilst he's brought us on leaps and bounds we haven't won any silverware for a while....i think moyes was just frustrated that his efforts to progress everton were hindered by natural factors affecting all managers in the game today eg noone can break into the top 4, the difference in funding for transfers differs wildly between teams....and more than that its been 6 fucking years boys! give the guy a break! At any given point in someones career be they football managers or managers at burger king, people have doubts about themselves and their career, its human to do so...moyes as many have pointed out is a talented, experienced but still young manager, and he has plenty of years ahead to develop a name for himself, moreso than he has done already, while he was getting praise and respect for his work at everton, its natural for him to think bigger.... just reading this I see it as a man in a state of mind where he wants to acheive something in his career, he wants to make an impact and be counted among the best of the best for what he does, and he associated the lack of that happening with his longevity at the club, understandable given that we tend to blame everything else but ourselves when we havent got what we wanted. Moyes was akin to a bored husband, in a long marriage, thinking about trading the missus for a younger, more streamlined version of what hes already got, when really, he wants what hes had all along, he just thought all the hard work should have been over by now. Bobby Robson just gave him a pat on the back and said stick at it mate, it's worth it in the long run...and moyes took a step back and said youre right. My interpretation of this is that moyes was considering a change of atmosphere a change of direction a change in general really because he was trying his best and it felt like he'd done all he could, and Robson helped him skip that step and head straight into the idea that actually, his work has only begun, and if he digs his heels in, he'll get what he's after... Cynics might say that was a new contract for double the money, I say we've got a manager who wants only the best for our club and will drive us every step of the way to becoming just that: Nothing but the best. I think we over-analyse when nothings happening, on breaks from matches or when theres little tidbits of news coming through, because we try to keep ourselves occupied. Its fine to have different viewpoints and it's an interesting point of discussion, but lets not digress into a mud-slinging match unnessecarily. We're all toffees after all!
  16. the sun on thursday reported that man city were going to table a bid of 9.6m in january for him......dont know if there is any creedence to this it is the sun after all...
  17. im hoping the international break will give the team a chance to practice together and gel, and moyes will actually make some smart decisions for the team to face arsenal....... on the other hand we could just suck like we have so far this season.........
  18. Not if he was the last striker on earth and we had a team full of wooden legged blind pirates, this guy bar being injured costs an arm and a leg and last i checked we got no money to put towards that.....
  19. Moyes definately needs to look into a defense mid position, i thought that was why we brought castillo in but clearly he doesnt plan on using him that much, or fellaini for that matter. We need a player who can do carsley's job, sit in front of the defense and act as a wall to absorb the attacks down the center, it means the fullbacks can stay in position, and the center halfs can focus on keeping shots out, so howard doesnt have to worry as much. Its funny because although carsley was at the butt of criticism because he was one of our weaker players, his position was a lynchpin to our tactics, protecting the defense to free up our midfield to roam around. With baines on the left able to push up and provide good crosses and pienaar able to track back, we have a shored up left side, but our right side is weaker and vunerable, so the only sense is to go back and play the way we used to, 4-5-1 yak up front, cahill osman arteta and pienaar BUT get someone in the defense mid role, which i thought casti was for, to get cover for the defense. Force them to play down the channel and snuff out the attack, last season it was hard for teams to beat us this season we're doing shit because there's noone protecting us on the break forcing teams out for crosses instead of short passing into the box. Appiah i think would rescue our form and shore up our defense, making sure that teams dont get that easy break on us as well as helping set up attacks. To me if casti isn't going to get played and won't be given a chance to fulfil this role we should get this guy in, surely moyes can see this is part of the reason our defense has sucked?
  20. i haven't been here very long but i think this is a great place to talk about everything evertonian and maybe we should just agree that some of us will not see eye to eye on this and discuss it more when more information regarding his contract comes into view. After all we're just sharing our thoughts and opinions as fans, we have no influence on what will happen, but it's important to us as fans to build as much a team spirit as their is in on the pitch. As far as im concerned, Everton existed far before moyes and did well and will do well long after he's gone, and after all, i support everton, not moyes. As far as this discussion goes, he may not be worth 3.4 million a year, and he may not be irreplaceable, but at this moment he is our manager and i'm in his corner as long as he is. My primary focus is backing a team that's had a bad start to help them go on to have a good season, nay, a GREAT season. And it can be done. With moyes or without. BRING ON THE GUNNERS! COYB!
  21. and this discussion isn't really about right and wrong it's whether we believe moyes should stay or go based on his new contract, some think he should some don't....and personally i like to hear people's viewpoints on the subject, but i would hardly throw our inability in the face of moyes, i'd rather say the other team played better on the day and we were unforutnate. Losing to chelsea isn't like losing to havant and waterlooville, chelsea are a bloody brilliant team, and we have to acknowledge our strengths. My point jim about us getting into europe was that the only teams above us are the big 4, which is saying something. Its hard to compete at their level and we should be glad of the vast improvements moyes has made. This is about the future, and moyes has made such significant progress that we are incredibly dissapointed were not in europe again, which in itself speaks volumes about how far we've come. I think there's too much criticism going on, especially when we don't have another manager who the majority of the fans would feel confident leading the club to higher places....maybe phil brown but that would never happen.
  22. Forgive me for thinking that having moyes as our manager isn't a risk to our future, but rather securing it for our club. You're right he is not bigger than the club, and we need someone who is going to ensure that everton remain a dominant force for years to come, looking at the work moyes has done it isn't unrealistic to say that he can take us where we want to go? To you maybe, but you seem to think that because he's demanding more money he must be a money grubbing bastard we don't need and get someone for cheaper who will do a better job...so far the examples youve provided of who could take over dont instill me with confidence, or make me think that they will lead the club to new glory, they make me think of damage control, of managing a team to break even and hit the top 10 but no further up. We should be aiming for the top, moyes got us 4th and 5th and then 5th again, are you saying someone else could have done/will do meteorically better with the players and money we have? if this is all about the money his contract costs then ultimately, you have to question how much you think moyes has done for the club. if you think a hell of a lot like me, then ill be happy to pay him if he gets us equal to or greater results than past seasons, if you think hes done sweet fa for us then yes you want him to go, but it seems that the contract talk and bad performances have unfortunately collided, and given fans an easy get-out argument for when people pin them down and say "why are we doing so shit?" oh it must be moyes' fault! Of course it couldnt have anything to do with the fact that through injury and lack of transfer funds our squad was thinner than a bolemic water biscuit and that most of the players that have come back off injury havent been at 100%, im fed up of people putting all our poor form on moyes shoulders....at the end of the day the players on the pitch have to do the work, and i dont think theres a magic formula to why we are losing or how to win...weve conceeded lots of goals because our defending has been poor, our midfielers dont track back enough, and we hoof the ball too much giving the opponents an easy run, moyes is trying to correct this and we are improving slowly but surely, too later to stay int he uefa cup, but i dont think weve got a strong enough team to win a europe cup in any regard, not yet at least, if we had made some bigger moes over summer then maybe.... I think moyes is capable enough to get us to a higher level and that we would do well to hang onto him, all we need is a bit more shrewd business, a lot more improvement on the pitch, and a good kick up the arse...all of which we can give ourselves
  23. Maybe Tomorrow - Stereophonics On the metallica album, ignore the haters, it's old school, it rocks, buy it, love it, put on your mantlepiece and show it to your grandkids when they ask you what classical music is. BOW DOWN! SELL YOUR SOUL TO ME! I WILL SET YOU FREE! PACIFY YOUR DEMONS!!!! better than st. anger anyway
  24. i like moyes, i dont want him to go, and i dont think us losing is his fault alone...but he is culpable and needs to take responsibility for the team...i think a lot of us should stop bitching to be honest.....many teams would kill to have moyes a man who brought us to european more years than not in his tenure, and im sure will get us out of a rut this season... people are too fickle nowadays, when something goes wrong they shift the blame onto someone and try and use that to admonish the mistakes theyve made...at the end of the day its down to the XI on the pitch, and as a fan whether we play shit or play amazing, ill be singing its a grand old team til my voice is hoarse because thats what being a fan is...... Shit happens, sometimes it comes in storms, were in the eye of the storm at the moment, deal with it for fucks sake moyes will either sign a contract or leave, well cross that bridge when we come to it, well either get taken over now or further down the line, well deal with that when we come to it, but its still 3 months to the transfer window and weve still got a lot of big games with the same players so im focusing on rooting for my team to do the best they can and get as many points as they can before christmas
