  1. i only saw the second half and they easily had the beating of sao paulo but just couldn't score. every time they did score the ref seemed to find something wrong with it.

harsh on them, but let's be honest, no one (especially those of you who live in Liverpool and no doubt work with plenty of shite fans) wanted them to have bragging rights over the "best team in the world" title.

  2. rob my problem with consistancy isn't consistant quality performances of consistant winning.

It's consistant passion to play for your club. our players sometimes play with the passion of the fans in the stands, while at other times they play like they've been picked out of the Kop and told to don the blue shirt and go and play at Goodison.

I can handle watching us have a bad game and losing to the likes of Bolton isn't a poor show for us but it's the passion and commitment that's lacking and that's whats taking us down. and really that's got to come from the manager.

Moyes is the kind of manager that brings that out of players but it doesn't seem to be happening week in week out this year.

  3. while i don't want to see moyes leave yet.

I too have one major concern

and that is how can we play with such differing amounts of motivation from one game to the next. in one game the whole team, including players like weir and kilbane will play like their possesed. they'll give it everything for the club like they really care. and on another day they'll play like they don't give a shit. i've never seen any other club swing quite so far from one way to the other in a matter of days but we do it week in week out.

what is it that moyes gets into them before one of those top performances that isn't happening when they just don't seem to give a shit. it's not quality, it's not his signings and it's not the tactics but fuck i'd love to know what it is.

  4. it's not gonna happen mate.

we can't afford to dump those squad players at the moment.

yeah i'd rather they weren't playing so much but at the moment we need them, and we don't have the money to replace them all.

I think we need to get real about these big clear out suggestions, kilbane, weir and bent may not be great players but they've often been there when it's mattered and given 110% (except bent at the moment but he used to) to chuck these players in january would be foolish.

  5. i don't think you can blame our results on no VDM or Martyn.

Wright wasn't bad in the United or West Ham games and I don't know how he played in this one but sounds like out field players cost us a few of the goals.

we could have easily won against united without vdm if some of our players could finish better.

VDM hasn't done that much for us, while i see him as a good prospect who has constantly been improving in performance he isn't the player that's got us back on our feet.

  6. Another piss easy game for Liverpool and prospective game of the tournament for Chelsea.

    CHELSEA v Barcelona

    Real Madrid v ARSENAL

    Werder Bremen v Juventus

    Bayern Munich v AC Milan

    PSV Eindhoven v Lyon

    Ajax v Inter Milan

    Benfica v LIVERPOOL

    RANGERS v Villarreal

I quite fancy a bet on Villareal to make the final. Their a very strong side and have been more than equal to everyone they've played.

saying that, though I hate to say it, if they shite keep going the way they are they could get quite a bit further.

Chelsea v Barcelona should be an awesome match as should Real v Arsenal.

  7. definately wasn't our worst performance of the year.

it wasn't good but there were times when we looked very good, unfortunately not often enough. and some players were playing very well, Beattie, Yobo (again) and Arteta when he came on.

I've seen a couple of games this season where I couldn't say anything about us was good.

  8. that's what he's saying on the efc site.

I doubt he'll be ready to start the game as moyes is usually quite cautious with regards bringing players back. especially as he'd only really just fully recovered from his last injury.

might get on the bench if he's fit.

  9. all fell apart when Mcfadden went off.

we only had 10 men when they scored and therefor no one was marking the person that put the cross in.

it wasn't just weir's fault, whoever didn't deal with it in front of Weir was also partly to blame.

after Bent came on we then struggled for about 20 minutes but playe well for the last 10 of the half, had them pinned back around their own area and should have made chances. there was some good football in that time which was nice to see.

Second half wasn't goood, apart from Arteta who played some good stuff.

Beattie had another good game, looked very sharp, played the ball off well and took his goal very well.

  10. anyone just bored of the whole saga?

I don't give a shit where Keane goes.

If he turns up and signs for us then great, if not then i'm really not bothered.

Celtic, Real, Bolton, Everton, all the papers have claimed that he's put pen to paper for at least 3 of those 4 so lets just calm down about it until we see him signing a contract and pulling on a shirt.

  11. I think we can win this 1-0.

same team I think though if they don't look to be living up to the way they played on sunday arteta should be introduced fairly early on for whoever's not up to standard. He's still probably not 100% fit though was on great form before he was suspended.

  12. don't have a link myself but the goal was good, great running from kilbane then when he was closed down outside the 18 osman played a ball through to mcfadden who was running free just inside the left hand side of the area.

hit it well at a tight angle and i really didn't think he'd get it but great effort. van de sar really should have done better though.

giggs goal was excellent, as the commentator said yobo should have tracked him but fantastic pass from scholes and a brilliant finish from giggs.

united were looking pretty desperate to score, pushing far too many players up but really didn't play well, for all their 20 shots on goal they never really looked like scoring.

  13. brilliant stuff from the lads.

especially some of the players we often slate on here. wright, kilbane and mcfadden.

mcfadden is really starting to look good, kilbane was attacking well and despite making his usual cock ups and not being great at the back he ran at united well and worked hard all the time. Teflon I thought had an excellent game, no awesome saves to make but didn't make any mistakes.

shame we didn't make the most of the chances we had. mcfadden in that one on one when we were on the break and bent near the end, what the hell was that?! 2 against 1 acres of space and he passes to ferdiand.

great result though, a very pleasant suprise.

  14. The worrying thing is that over the next 4 weeks we have something like 6 games which will go a long way to deciding our season.

    Big Big Big trouble

and pretty much all winnable games which makes it worse. we could end up losing games that with a few of our better players playing we could have won.

lets hope some of the stand in can sort it out and the defence can hold up with wright behind them.

  15. well were 14/1 to win this one, and rightly so i think with the number of important players we have out.

Arteta has been outstanding this season playing the ball round well, crossing brilliantly and making intelligent passes and runs.

Cahill is a player who's determination and skill are always missed by us, though we did manage to do ok against Blackburn I think Man U will be a different story.

Nigel Martyn, hasn't had a lot to do in the last few games due to our defence playing so well, when he has been called into action he's done brilliantly though. as soon as Teflon came on he had both the fans and his own defence in nerves for the rest of the match.

If the defence can stay settled with teflon behind them we could scrape a draw or just lose by 1 goal. If however they lose their confidence due to him being there then it'll all be damage limitation.

Interestingly, with an handicap of 1.5 on their shoulders the blues become favourite so clearly the bookies only have us down to let 1 in.

  16. you might be able to get it when it goes general sale.

though i suppose with it being in london there'll be more people going than went to the FA Cup 3rd round at Plymouth I went to last year. I got a ticket for that on general sale but that was not only a long way away for those of you living in Liverpool but not really in a place that's going to be full of Everton fans.

London on the other hand probably has a decent quoter of fans that only need to make a small trip and it's on a fast direct route for those that travel to most games.

I'm tempted with this one as i'm travelling to London on the Sunday, going to New York on the Monday. don't think my missus will be too up for it and it'll cost a hefty price to change my flights to saturday but still quite tempted. i'll wait and see on the ticket news first I think.
