  1. I do not mind having him for a loan...i fondly remember him in tears when he was was shown the red card during last or second last game when we were fighting relegation! Phew! that was emotion!! His reaction showed he does not wanna leave da field and he was feeling guilty eventhough he was send off for a fair challenge in a hot battle....he was a nice guy though!

  2. maybe he is not media friendly,...maybe he just speaks his facinations..i am no fan of him either...but i believe even enemies deserve a chance when they realise their mistakes. So why not him?...would be a good backup or a squad player as i always wonder what happens when Aj and BT gets injured at the same time...do we have cover?

  3. The good news.......from what I've read, AJ is a done deal. Personal terms will not be a problem as remember Duncan was on 40k a week and he's gone now. Hopefully we'll get a better return financially from AJ? than we did from Duncan.

The bad news....from what I've read Yobo could be on his way out. Moyes is pissed off he's not signed his contract. Interestingly Campbell may leave Arsenal as well. Moyes may look to cash in on him and is hoping to get 6-7M. I've heard our transfer budget this summer is around 10m. After the AJ deal, if Yobo is sold that will leave 8-9m for two centre backs and a midfielder or just 2 centre backs?

Health warning - this is guess work on what I've read in the Sunday press this morning.

Eventhough its a guess,it sounds possible

  4. you're not comparing apples with apples here --- for a club like Everton it's no good even mentioning the above players due to their price tags.  what bafana blue seems to be saying is for players in a similar price range (about 2-5mn) the quality of british player you get for your money is far less than a similar priced european (or african) player, and this is very often true. you can point out all the cr*p foreigners that Everton managed to buy, but not every signing will be a success - bolton managed to find okocha and ben-haim, fulham found boa-morte and malbranque, and we found yobo, arteta and cahill..........

the underlying point that bafana makes is that there are too many overpriced, very mediocre british players who become high profile, get chased by everyone outside of the big 4, are signed for more than they're worth, and quickly get shown up........on this forum there's always huge noise being made about signing players like koumas or earnshaw, and moaning when we miss out because we weren't prepared to pay up........

for a club on a tight budget, we really need to look a bit harder for a few gems playing either in "smaller name" european, african or asian clubs to try and get decent value for money.....

Well said....impartial comment......would be nice if we can stop being emotional....stand on the grey line and evaluate our options. No point argueing for the sake of arguing without much sense if your argument. For once i see the above reply to be damn true and honest and impartial!

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that he is willing to listen to offers for Eidur Gudjohnsen.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that he is willing to listen to offers for Eidur Gudjohnsen.

The Iceland international has been an integral part of Chelsea's success in the past couple of seasons, with Mourinho finding a niche for him in midfield following the arrivals of strikers Hernan Crespo and Didier Drogba.

However, German superstar Michael Ballack has been brought in this summer and two or three more high-profile signings are likely to follow.

Mourinho is looking to keep his squad well-balanced, and is prepared to make sacrifices for the good of the team.

"The position with Eidur is that he is a great football player," hailed Mourinho.

"We want to keep him but we are open to speak with clubs about him if they show a real interest in him."

Gudjohnsen's availability is likely to spark widespread interest throughout The Premiership and across the continent, but he is not the only Chelsea player set for a possible departure.

Carlton Cole has had limited opportunities during his time at Stamford Bridge, and Mourinho warned that is likely to continue if he remains.

"Carlton is one of the players we are open for negotiations," he declared. "I am not saying I do not want him here because that is not true.

"I'm not saying I want to push him away from Chelsea because it is not true.

"But I am saying that with a player like Drogba and another striker that we will buy for sure, his opportunities are not very good here.

"He is at an age where he needs to play football and we will try to find a good solution for him - either on loan or by selling him. We will try to find a solution.

"So we are waiting for clubs and possibilities to try and analyse what is best for him and best for the club."

Crespo is also expected to leave after expressing his desire to move on.

"I think he is with the Argentina team now," said Mourinho. "He didn't change one single word about his wish to move and we are still waiting for clubs with offers.

"If nobody comes with an offer that Chelsea are happy with and accept, he will have to stay with us."

Some of those players on the fringes of the team, such as Glen Johnson, Robert Huth and Lenny Pidgeley, could also be deemed expendable.

"Because of the age of some of the players and they don't have so many opportunities at Chelsea, we can look for a different step for their careers," Mourinho continued.

"For example Glen Johnson is a great boy but he has Paulo Ferreira and Geremi with a lot of experience in front of him.

"Robert Huth is the same thing. He is a player present in the World Cup but you look at him at Chelsea and he has Ricardo Carvalho and Gallas and John Terry ahead of him.

"You have Lenny Pidgeley's situation - he has played 100 minutes in The Premiership.

"How can a goalkeeper of 21 survive not playing football? So this is the kind of player we have to think about getting a solution that is good for him and the club."

Who Do U Wanna See In Everton Colors?

    Eidur Gudjohnsen

    Glen Jhonson

    Robert Huth

I am not really sure if these players will cost sky high, but i believe that we can get them cheaply as chelsea are not desperate for $$$ anyway....

    The question here is....

Do we need any of those players?

Can we afford them and their wages?

Will DM consider any of these players?

  6. its whats known as progression.

when moyes came here we were a relagation fodder each season and he has turned our average season position to belive it or not 10th.

now we have progressed alot under moyes. its a question of can he take us further.

i believe he can. if he gets us 6th or 7th next season i can see that we are going places

Well said....could not agree more on that!

  7. Here is the review of last season.....

After a fairly traumatic start to the season, Everton showed a great deal of character to put things right on the pitch and recover sufficiently to finish just outside the top 10.

After all the excitement of finishing fourth in 2004-05, Everton's hopes were dashed by defeat to Villarreal in the Qualifying Round and then to Dinamo Bucharest in the first round of the Uefa Cup.

In addition to that, Everton found themselves struggling in the league and lost seven of their opening eight Premiership matches, scoring just one goal in the process. In fact, they went six games without a

goal, equalling a club record they set in The Premiership back in 1994. But things picked up after their draw against Chelsea and The Toffees gradually eased themselves out of the danger zone and away from the battle to avoid the drop.

David Moyes' side struggled to score goals all season and only three teams - the relegated clubs - scored fewer than The Toffees. A significant issue was the lack of chances created. Only four teams attempted fewer shots than the 346 mustered by Everton, but quality was also lacking in that only two teams converted a lower proportion of their chances. Everton needed round 11 shots per goal scored.

Everton also struggled to retain possession of the ball, with only two teams attempting fewer passes. The Toffees were one of the more prolific teams in terms of crossing the ball and were just one shy of a thousand centres over the course of the campaign.

Everton were put under a lot of pressure and no team was forced in to more defensive clearances, block and interceptions over the course of the campaign. This defensive work also resulted in seven dismissals and 62 yellow cards, one of the highest crime counts in the division. This was hardly surprising though given only three teams have committed more fouls than the 592 Everton gave away.

The first goal often proved crucial in Everton matches, especially as Moyes' charges won more games by 1-0 than any other scoreline. 10 of their 14 victories came by that result. The Toffees lost just one game all season after going ahead, but they were one of five teams who didn't come back to win any matches after falling behind. In fact, in 18 games where they trailed, they came back to recoup just two points - a divisional low.

The Toffees form dipped again toward the end of the campaign when they won just one of their last eight Premiership matches. This was mainly due once again to the goals drying up. James Beattie went through a purple patch where he netted seven goals in 10 games over the winter, but he was the only Toffee to reach double figures overall.

Duncan Ferguson capped his Everton career with a goal on the final day of the season to rescue a point against West Brom and the fans were delighted to give him a good send off. The summer will be a busy one for David Moyes as he looks to enhance his squad and for it to then show the spirited form that saw them finish fourth in 2004-05.

.....Seems like we have plenty homework to do in the transfer window!

Now it seems supprising how the heck we ended up in 11Th position!

  8. But what concerns me is if these two were to leave, then we need minimum of 3 defenders.Since we have limited cash, i wonder how the hell are we gonna get 3 defenders,2(hopefully) midfielders and 2(hopefully) attackers! Total 7 players with limited funds.Yes u can go for loans, but how many quality loan players do we have.Since $$$ is concern here, i hope these two stays another year.I am no big fan of weir either, but the situation seeks them to stay for another year i suppose. And i also read somehere sheff and leeds are keep to hijack both weir and stubs and that does not sound good to me!

  9. I just hope weir and stubbs are for a year long cover.Should we have nightmares in the first 10 games, i am sure weir and stubbs will be deployed in ctrl defence. From then on, don't be supprised if they play all season long.....

Seems like we need 3 Defenders , 1 right winger, 1 attack midfielder, 1 creative midfielder, 2 Strikers ( i can't really see MCfaddy scorring that many goals..)....

Seems i am more excited of Everton's transfers then the world cup!
