  1. Didn't James Joyce write prose? I'm reading The Shame of the Nation by Jonathan Kozol
  2. I think they're still around, but tbh I've never been there.
  3. Billy Idol - White Wedding; Steve Stevens must be the most underrated guitarist of the 80s.
  4. I work with an Irishman who is unfortunately a big manure supporter. I have always casually followed European football, but for this season my coworker insisted that I pick a team. Somehow I chose Everton. I can't express just how pleased I am with the choice. It took no time at all for me to become obsessed with the club: simply a great club and great fan culture. I'm considering going to England next season to see a game.
  5. Thank you very much for this. Any other input is welcome. With all due respect to the many Scousers here, as an American I must say, what in God's name is Carra saying?
  6. I'm an American whose trying to familiarize himself with different English dialects. In the US, we're really only exposed to the accents of English actors, which all seem to be pretty similar. Perhaps it's a theater (or should I say theatre?) training thing. Being a Toffee man, I'm especially concerned with picking up on Scouse, but I'm interested in them all. So, what resources would my English friends here suggest to learn to differentiate the different dialects? I've tried a lot of youtube videos, but many of them are useless. Are there movies I should see, or specific English people I should see interviewed for good examples of certain accents? Also, what are all the names for the accents? I know Scouse, Geordie, Mancunian, and Brummie. Isn't there something called Tyke? Please help me folks. Thank you.
  7. Greetings my friends. I'm an Everton fan from Boston, MA, USA. Happy to be among other supporters of blue. What a season! Looking forward to more next year. NSNO.
