  1. I agree, 22 million is still not enough but its nearer the point at which the board will start applying pressure on the Moyes to sell....Nevilles comments though are a source of comfort....
  2. I see it more like this: Howard Hibbert(Neville) , Jags/Yobo , Lescott , Baines(Lescott/Neville) Neville/Rodwell/Peterlin Osman/Gosling(Arteta/Pieenaar) Arteta(Fellaini/Cahill/Neville) Pienaar(Osman/Arteta) Cahill(Osman), Fellaini/Anichebe Yak/Jo/Saha/Vaughn So for me the areas we need to strengthen with quality and/or experience are the 2 underlined. However, it would be good to maybe get some natural width on the right from a more natural winger as hibbo is useless going forward and osman is too central, and definately some cover at CB (short term at least so a loanee would work best. The ones in brackets are alternatives from other positions
  3. People may be forgetting that you also have wages to pay....with every new contract a club offers their players, the wage inevitably increases - a bit like a normal employees annual standard inflation increase. The wage bill increases season after season and so when thinking about how much money the club has, this has to be taken into consideration before even thinking about how much we can spend on transfers and their wages.....I suspect that this is where our money has gone this year - new contracts for Yobo, Cahill, Arteta and (hopefully) pienaar....add on to that the overinflated transfer prices because of Real Madrid and Man City - 9 millon for a championship striker (Martins)?????
  4. Man City, champions league....since when...They didn't even get into europe through the fair play league this year....challenging for the league.....no chance 10 strikers but only 1 defender (toure)....they'll ship goals in at the back and bellamy will rock the boat when he aint playing...they'll be too inconsistent this year. We are the only side to break the top 4 in how long now with pretty much the players we already have? so surely on recent form, we have the better chance of champs league and winning the prem....just becaus the papers have started getting aroused by Man Citys money, doesn't mean they will be a force - not at least while Hughes is in charge.
  5. But he got booked (harshly admittedly as it was his first foul) because he was in no-mans land chasing chelsea shadows.....
  6. I suspect the problem is simply that all evertonians fear a return to the dark period in the 90's where last day drama is required to preserve our proud record in the top flight....I for one don't want to watch us claw back from 2-0 down against a wimbledon from the stanley park trees, or hope for another Howard Kendall 'gareth farrelly' dream to resuce us against coventry ever again......with sheikhs queuing at the doors of smaller, unsuccessful clubs instead of ours, and unproven teenagers being sent to waste their talents at mid-table clubs, we are all fearing the worst. This fear would be alleviated if we saw some transfer progress not re-gress (piennaar contract rejection, lescott!!) It is important to remember however, that a lot is most likely going on behind the scenes to get players that are right for the club and its needs so maybe we shouldn't panic - even though we just cant help it. Come on Bill, Moyes and Elstone....give us something to cling onto!!!!
  7. See BK...there are investors out there...its a pit we're not as big a club as Bangor.... BBC Gossip Column - "Billionaire Arab Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan is poised to pour millions into Welsh premier League side Bangor City after going to university in the town. Bangor's average gate is 400."
  8. Im in the camp that think we need to concentrate on defence....our Major priority is RB...hibbo just isn't good enough- justin hoyte was a good call (ex arsenal) but maybe there are others.....Our second priority has to be CB - Lescott may be sold, Yobo is a bit sloppy at times and will be off to African cup in Jan so we need to get cover while Jags is out - a loan deal for an experienced player would do. Maybe then we can look at the likes of Elm, hunt, jenas, bentley??? 3 players for not much money (bentley excluded)
  9. So do we actually know when to expect the final decision from govt on the planning for Kirkby....it was supposed to be around now but Hazel Blears quit her post...who is the person now making the decision??
  10. Noddy - "Hibbert failed to adequately track back...the great Phil Neville gave away a terrible penalty" You say this like it is not normal....!!!! Hibbo not tracking back....did you not see the FA cup final???
  11. at this right we'll be able to do an Arsenal and have our very own League Cup team....
  12. On SSN.... 7.25 According to reports in France, Marseille midfielder Lorik Cana, who has been linked with Arsenal and Everton, is set to sign a four-year contract with Sunderland. Another bites the dust hey!!!
  13. David Weir is going strong... A few seasons ago we were so short on keepers that there was talk Chris Woods would need to step in.....what is the possibility of Stubbs stepping up to the plate??? In all seriousness, Im not sure if there is anyone...maybe a couple of average-good players would do instead of one top, expensive player....Richards/Upson/O Shea/Wes Brown?????...
  14. why aren't the board getting Mr Earl more involved....or get his hollywood a-lister friends investing. Imagine a consortium made up of Sly Stallone, Arnie, Tom Cruise, and Steven Spielberg.....They could even help get BK back into acting.....???
  15. Man city will probably drive a hard bargain with this though given that they want lescott.....also, i see from above that spurs are also interested.....and we have just found out what that usually means....It appears we are doomed to have villa and spurs sniffing around every future target - its the price we are paying for Moyes' previous success stories on hidden gems...
  16. I think there has been a shift in the direction which our transfer policy goes this year, largely due to our lack of funds, but also, we have our first 11-14 pretty much sorted - Howard, Lescott, Baines, Yobo/Jags, Hibbert, Fellaini, Cahill, Neville, Pienaar, Osman/Arteta, Jo/Yakubu - so I think its a case now of getting young players, with a year or two experience to groom in the shadows of the aforementioned players. They don't have huge wage demands, can deal with regular bench appearances, and are useful for those lesser pre/post europe matches when resting others. Players like peterlin/naughton/walker will add to the Goslings, Rodwells and Vaughns already at the club. There is only one position really needing a top price player - Right Back - but sadly, I think Moyse still sees Hibbert as the number one RB.....im not too worried about the lack of activity.....yet!!
  17. But pink???!!!!???!!!....anyhow, it is nice to see a proper change to our kits rather than the miniscule changes umbro made every year. I think the kit may be a token of support to the awesome EFC Womens team that hopefully will take the title away from those greedy gunners this year, and may also be a ploy to encourage more ladies to buy shirts.... COME ON YOU BLUES, BLACKS, GOLDS & PINKS!!!!!
