Apparently Moyes didn't want to go anyway and that it was Elstone who pushed it.
TBF I don't think any manager's would want to be taking their teams all around the world at this stage of pre-season to play in some meaningless friendlies - ref: Man U, City, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea.
It's not a football decision, it's about satisfying sponsors and globalisation of their brand.

lets hope we dont go down this road, there must be a young right mid somewhere we can get at less than the wages landon will request.
Yes, it's Matty Phillips
-
We offered him a contract and he turned it down. He's apparently negotiating with Palace.
I'd assume we'd be entitled to some sort of development fee?
-
SSN reporting that EFC and THFC in talks, so it sounds like something concrete is happening........

Great game against england last night
We could play him up front with Jela. He's got twice as many goals in him as Louis
-
I saw on the Should Moyes stay/Go thread that Joachim Loew earns half what Moyes does. Now, he may dress like something out of the Pet Shop Boys but he does know a bit about footy
-
If he was a bandwagon jumper he'd say he was supporting Man U or Man City - some bandwagon if he's till on it 25 years later!
I would say it doesn't matter how you're an Evertonian, it just matters that you are an Evertonian

Pah...8 million
I am very good freinds with the cheif executive of Burnley Football Club and we were discussing him last week and he told me how much Burnley would let him go for due to finances etc and that 8 million is way off the mark.
6.5m to Southampton so not that way off the mark - best have a word with your best mate at Burnley

I can see why, i mean earlier on in the season, what neutral fan would have wanted to sit and watch us on their TV, Our own fans did'nt even want to watch us because the football was so bad, we have got to sustain a good run from the start, do well then the TV companies will want to cover EFC.
Agree with this but LFC were live 23 times compared to our 10 and they were even more shite than us, objectively and statistically. That generated 6.2m more income than we got. Hopefully we'll be able to persuade the decision makers that we need a bigger slice compared to them.
*Facility fees are related to live appearances

Its obvious how much of a better team we are when he is playing... Royston who...
Plenty of people on here still think that Royston is a much better option than Pienaar. I remember getting shouted down a few weeks ago for saying we were playing better with Pienaar in the team but hey, its all about opinions

Apparently Moyes and SAF were sat together at Gresty Road on Saturday.
-
I thought he was alright since the champs league final, didnt realise he was ill again.
Had a liver transplant last week
-
Lineker-esque. It might explain why he isn't so good 1 on 1 with the keeper so we need to keep playing to his strengths.

You can't get away from the fact that under kenwrights tenure we have had no organic growth - just decline. What we have seen is desperate book balancing. By that I mean: Rooney sale, lescott sale, arteta sale, bellefield sale, finch farm sale, mortgaging against future tv revenue and season tickets.
All masqueraded in the form of a Leighton , a fellaini, jelavic, loan signings - football players are intangible assets. Our security was the roof over our heads, our training ground, low debt. We have lost fixed assets and increased debt - ah but that's ok cos mark Hughes and ginola aren't playing for us?!
We are a couple of essential sales (appease banks) and poor backfills away from a poor team that will not feature anywhere near where we should be. We ain't got the financial infrastructure to wipe off a dalglish esque signing or two. we would have to stick with Adam and Henderson. All managers can make bad signings, when ours happen the consequences are compounded because of the board we have.
Kenwright could have sold us - should have sold us but can't. Pick a reason... Phillip green is the man driving the terms, he loves his status, he ain't gotta clue. Bit of everything me thinks..,
Maybe we'd be better off with a lovely new stadium like the Ricoh...................?

I don't want Doyle, just anticipating who Moyes may try to pick off. If anyone from Wolves I'd take Jarvis.
-
Haha bit of a difference a top premier league player to a league 1 player....
Agree, but if we didn't get Dempsey we'd keep Cahill going for another season
-
they will lose a supporter if that ever happens. joke of a player and its not like he's got a footballing brain to get them playing football ive played better football with a sunday league team than he has for the last how many years Ive had to put up with his negative rugby passes and his backing off wingers cant wait till he retires and leaves us but thats my opinion on him some might not be as harsh.
No you haven't, total BS
-
With the Euros being on, I assume the only way he can get some players in early is if he's got his eye on a couple from the relegated clubs then? Kevin Doyle anyone...?
-
Hope we can lure Dempsey in the summer. If not we should try to get Nick Powell from Crewe, he might be in our price range.
-
Mesi got nowhere near the Chelsea goal, as their defenders done their job. Just played him on to his right foot and he was little short of useless.
Oops - might regret that in a few hours
-
I guess I'm more worried about the effect it would have on a young lad's confidence if he got destroyed at Man Utd in front of 76000, rather than whether we win our remaining games. We can see what he's got after a good pre-season and training with the 1st team.
-
So, Baines could miss the rest of the season with a hamstring tear. Fantastic.
I'd instantly recall Garbutt and start him until the end of the season, see if he's got what it takes to be back-up to Baines.
I realise I'm dreaming and Moyes is much more likely to play Neville there, or move Distin over to LB and get his beloved Jagielka back in the starting 11.
Not good news about Baines but it is the only realistic option at this stage of the season to move Distin or Neville to left back.
Garbutt has had a really good season in League 2 and it will have done wonders for his game and confidence. I think it would be a mistake to recall him and throw him in against Man Utd with a team of people he's never trained or played with. Same for Bidwell.
Hopefully one or both of them can make some progress in the 1st team next season.
-
Not worth wasting your time using stats against a Pienaar fan, they don't believe in them as they never mention that touch to Baines 6 passes before a goal that should obviously be credited to Pienaar cos he is a footballing god
I wish it had worked out with Drenthe. He obviously has ability and he started out making all the right noises but he's let himself down. Go and read about his time at Hercules last season after a really bright start. There's a pattern to his behaviour.
I'm not trying to big up Pienaar, I'm using it as a reference to outline how Drenthe has wasted his opportunity.
Feel free to remind me of my 'wrong' opinion when he has a storming season for Liverpool
-
True, but he is still a nob though We gave him an amazing chance to rebuild his career, and he fucked it up.

Seems to me from your comments about Neville and your proposed team for an EPL away game, that you don't know much about footy
