  1. Del Pierro and Paulo Maldini?

    Yes, Alessandro Del Piero (Italy - 1996, 2000, 2004 & 2008) and Edwin van der Sar (Netherlands - 1996, 2000, 2004 & 2008).

Germany's Lothar Matthäus (1980, 1984, 1988, 2000), Denmark's Peter Schmeichel (1988, 1992, 1996, 2000), The Netherlands' Aron Winter (1988, 1992, 1996, 2000) & France's Lilian Thuram (1996, 2000, 2004, 2008) are the only other four players to have participated in four different UEFA European Football Championships, but they all won one gold medal each.

  2. I think there is a Swede or Norwegian guy playing in the middle east. Saudi Arabia or somewhere like that. But I don't know his name. May be wrong though.

Ireland's Robbie Keane (Los Angeles Galaxy, United States) and Sweden's Christian Wilhelmsson (Al-Hilal, Saudi Arabia).

Which two footballers played in four different UEFA European Championship Tournaments but failed to win a gold medal?

  3. Last question would be Basle, Grasshoppers of Zurich, Young Boys of Berne and someother one I don't know, was there ever an 1860 Zurich or something, got about three right so will be content enough with that, there's another one with a couple of X'S in the title that begins with N I think and think they're Swiss but can't pronounce the name, Neuatral XamaX or something, probably way off the mark but that did ring a bell

    Basel (2002–03, 2008–09, 2010–11, 2011–12), Grasshopper (1995–96, 1996–97), Thun (2005–06) and Zürich (2009–10).

  5. Was it Manchester United in 1992 with Bournemouth FA Cup rounds

Quite a bit earlier than that, although Manchester United were involved.

Hull City drew with Manchester United 1-1 after extra time in the Watney Cup Semi-Final on 5th August 1970 then lost the penalty shoot-out.

Which three members of Ireland's UEFA Euro 2012 Finals 23-man squad play their club football outside England?

  6. Which seven are ever~present would have been a good enough question.

Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen, Dundee United & Motherwell would be my guesses as well as the obvious two.

Go for Motherwell as the answer to the proper question (though the "lesser" teams always seem to have a lot of unknown Europeans so the answer could well be Celtic or Rangers).

Yes, Motherwell have used just 37 different Foreign Players during the past 14 seasons. By contrast, Rangers have used 98 during the same period.

  8. Ah there after all.

I don't see the point of supplying a question and the answer there with it, but in any event,

It could well be Seaman, in that season 2003-04 when they went unbeaten, but was he the keeper though at the time, if not that then Howard here would be a good guess, or maybe Van Der Sar or Freidel even. Could be Cudicini maybe..

I'll cut it down and say Van Der Sar and Freidel

Petr Čech (Chelsea, 2004–05) and Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United, 2008–09).

    Rangers

    Celtic

    Dundee

    Aberdeen

don't know the other, possibly Heart of Midlothian

    Celtic (7: 1 winners, 2 finalists, 4 semi-finals)

    Rangers (6: 1 winners, 3 finalists, 2 semi-finals)

    Aberdeen (2: 1 winners, 1 semi-finals)

  11. Lawro's Prediction for Wolves v Everton (Sunday, 14:00 BST)

I know Wolves showed a bit of spirit to fight back from 4-1 down for a draw at Swansea last week but I cannot see Terry Connor getting a first win as manager here.

Everton will not lie down and they are playing better now than they were before they lost to Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-finals.

They are in mid-table but they still have plenty to play for because they want to finish above the Reds in the table and they are not going to relax now.

    Prediction: Wolves 0-2 Everton

Here are all of Lawro's 2011-12 Premier League Predictions, together with how the League Table would look like if all his forecasts were correct...

  12. How did camsell not win, don't understand that at all

The other one is maybe Revie, not Ramsey I'm sure, not Robson either, now you mention it, it could well be Ron Greenwood I remember reading somewhere

It was because Middlesbrough were Second Division Champions that season, so not a Top Flight club at the time.

Sven-Goren Eriksson (2001-06) won 26 of the 38 competitive matches he was in charge for, giving him a winning percentage of 68.42%

  13. Dean at Everton

that guy at Middlesbrough before him, can't remember the name, 1920s, George Camsell it could well be

    Rush at Liverpool

Were Middlesbrough even top flight at the time in question?, fuck it, that's the answers I'll go with, pressed for time today. leggit.gif

William 'Dixie' Dean (Everton, 63 goals 1927-28), Clive Allen (Tottenham Hotspur, 49 goals 1986-87) and Ian Rush (Liverpool, 47 goals 1983-84).

    Wednesday 2nd April 2012:

Which England National Team manager had the best winning percentage in competitive matches?

  14. I really do not know this but I am willing to have a guess.

Won a lot? so is probably an old established club. But one outside the top flight for a long time. Tricky very tricky.

Oldest club I can think of is Notts County, but I don't know if they have ever won anything. I think, although I don't know it has to be either Notts County or Burnley? Maybe Stoke. I go for County purely as they are founder members of the football league. So are the others, but I am sure County are the oldest club around.

Yes, Notts County with 8 League Titles (3 Second Flight Championships, 2 Third Flight Championships & 3 Fourth Flight Championships).

Total English League Championship won in all Four Flights 1888-89 to 2011-12

    Tuesday 1st May 2012:

Which three players with English Top Flight clubs have scored the most goals in all competitions during a season?

  15. The most obvious choice would be Nottingham Forest and Hamburg in 1980

Right, European Cup Finals and Germany vs English..

    1980 - as above

1982 (just remembered) Bayern Munich vs Aston Villa

1977 Liverpool vs Borrusia Munchengladbach or however you spell it

1975 Leeds United vs Bayern Munich

I think that's it actually, I merely thought of english sides in european cup finals and then the opposition with it, simples

I don't think this has never happened since 1982, answer therefore is four finals

This season's Final will be the 6th time:

1975 Bayern Munich 2-0 Leeds United

    1977 Liverpool 3-1 Borussia Monchengladbach

1980 Nottingham Forest 1-0 SV Hamburg

1982 Aston Villa 1-0 Bayern Munich

1999 Manchester United 2-1 Bayern Munich

    2012 Chelsea v Bayern Munich.

    Monday 30th April 2012:

Which club has won the most Football League Championships without ever winning one in the Top Flight of English Football?
