To add a little optimism. I don't think we were awful on sat against PSV. I know it was just a friendly, bt they are a CL side and we still managed to scrape a draw. I'd be satisfied with a point on saturday considering. On the other hand I definitely think we need to get something from the game. If we fail to take any points, I think there will be some kind of backlash from the fans and demand for answers. It really is atrocious that we have taken backwards steps in terms of squad developement over the summer. Bearing in mind the achievements last year and buzzing expectation everyone had at the end of the season, I feel a little let down that the whole bubble has burst, and the brimming excitement I had has turned into troubled concern and fear. I'm looking forward to watching match of the day on saturday for the simple reason that I'm hoping they'll have an interview with Moyesy and he'll answer some of our worries as to what exactly is happening behind the scenes at Goodison. Going back to the optimism I started with, well, it's difficult I know but, putting aside the bring your protest and such like, we still need to get behind our boys and ensure Goodison remains a fortress, and I'm sure that if we all get behind and play the twelfth man, than perhaps next week we'll be saying we have the best academy and set of youngsters in the league. Who knows but here's hoping...... the eternal optimist.

I'm in the For camp. I think he'd be a great addition, he looks like he's got the strength and presence we need in our midfield. Plus, as said above, it'd be great to see him rip through the red shite: )

I can't see this one happening at all. I'm sorry, but Darren Bent won't be putting on an everton shirt next season. As for AJ, I am for selling him. IMHO, he's too small, always gets pushed to easily of the ball, and although he does work hard, too many times have I seen in him situations on goal, and just been brushed of the ball with the flimsiest of touches. A good player, but lacking in strength.

well i haven't heard anything about signing manny before this supposed deadline. something's gotta be made of dust, either the prospect of signing or the 'deadline' <_<

I thoroughly agree with this. it makes me a bit nervous. Although, I trust moyesy to makes the right decisions with the "relatively" small budget we have (we must remember, in terms of transfers, that managers are prob waiting for the euro's to finish). However, when i see that Man City are going for £20mil players (Eg: Jo), and we're debating about 5milioners, it still worries me slightly. Forget about the top4, if we can't compete with the teams around us like city,b'burn,villa etc, then we have no chance. I know we're not a rich club but we have a good base, which we need to add to (not replace). When i hear us linked with the likes of Fernandes (on a permanent), moutinho, etc, this is the way to go, (even if it costs a little bit). We must remember, we've set the standard outside the top four. We CANNOT let ourselves slip behind the pack. Therefore, we need to keep our quality (eg. Arteta) and add extra QUALITY (note: quality with a capital Q.U.A.L.I.T.Y). Sorry to say it but expectations are higher than ever now.

I'll be extremely dissapionted if we lose Arteta. It's players like these that meant we finished where have done over the last seasons. When Arteta has been missing, how many times have we heard that we've missed his creativity. We need him and his flair in the team. To say we're going to lose him and replace him with someone like Bentley, (or even the likes of Sidwell, Lewandowski et al) for me is completely illogical, and certainly not a continuation of the progress we have made.
