  1. I really can't understand how people are actually agreeing to pay £5,000,000 for Pienaar. Sure, he was a good player at us but he wanted to leave (and that's fine) but I don't think we should be taking him back on the basis that he may well never get back to the form he had at Goodison, he may never get back to full fitness and also we would be paying a considerable amount more than what we sold him for. When I first heard that Harry wants £5,000,000 I nearly wet myself laughing, it amazes me that some people would actually go along with this. Talk about being ripped-off.

There are much better players that we could be buying that would do a better job - let him go to Sunderland.

  2. I'm sure on Fifa, its says he's 6'8? Or at least he appears it! If someone with Fifa, could check? Many thanks smile.png

The only reason that I know about this guy is from Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 but if thats anything to go by then we should snap him up. In his first season with me he scored 20 goals and if this was transferred into real life I would be a happy man! If were being serious too I think he is definatly worth a go, he's tall and has proved he can score with Paris Saint Germain so I don't understand why he coulden't here.

  3. I'm not that bothered with Chelsea really because I don't live anywhere near London so I don't hear Chelsea fans going on about their successes. Being from near Manchester I do hear a lot of Manchester City 'fans' claiming that since football was invented they have been at the front. Some of the City fans are genuine and I don't mind them as they are just supporting their club going through a good patch it's just when people come out singing and dancing that Manchester City are the greatest club in the world that piss me off as they would have been nowhere near the top 10, let alone the Championship had they not of had a mega investment.

Along with that when they have players like Balotelli in their club it dosen't help as I think he's an absolute cock.

  4. Not so long ago I would have loved Manchester City to have won something but since the takeover their fans have become the most arrogant in English football. I despise the fact that they see themselves as 'always will and always have been' a big club as not long ago they coulden't even hold a position in the Premier League. They are a small club and as soon as they go back to being that the better as they are one of the worst football clubs out there at the moment.

  5. My day has been made so much better knowing that the scumbags lost against Sunderland! I tried to get onto Bluemoon (for the first team) to see what people were saying about the result and I got the same screen. Hopefully this is the start of City falling from the top of the table and back into mid-table/relegation where they belong. I said at the start of the season that Manchester United would win the league and I still stand by what I said, Manchester City will not win the title and their rivals will - simple as.

With City looking for the winner, Sunderland managed to hit them on the counter-attack with the final action of the match. Ji exchanged a one-two with Sessegnon and then rounded Hart superbly before finishing into the empty net! 1-0.

Second best news all day, what's more there are reports that Ji's goal was offside which makes it all the more hilarious.

  6. Distin for me also but he still needs to be dropped when Felli's back.

I'm unsure why Distin needs to be dropped after having a game like he just did (he got the man of the match vote from Peter Reid and Niall Quinn over at Sky Sports HQ). He kept out most of West Brom's chances and hardly put a foot wrong so it would seem strange to relegate him to the bench when there is nothing he's done wrong.Just my opinion.

Why does Straq have several nominations but only 1 vote on the board?

The one vote that Stracq has got is from me, so don't be looking over here! shaking%20fist.png

  7. Missed the goal but hearing Josh's reaction from the next room was a bit of a give-awaylaugh.png .

Met up with the mother and father to watch the game in the pub today and I can totally relate to you with celebrations! In a crowded pub my mother made the gayest, high pitch squeak I've ever heard when Big Vic nabbed that late winner. One of the funniest things I've heard in my life which made the three points all the more pleasing! It's so good to come away from watching an Everton game and actually feeling happy, what a pleasant change!

Also 9th in the league with a game in hand - not bad.

  8. Think before we start on the players a special mention has to go out to David Moyes. For me this is the first game this season where he has grown some balls and put two up front and look where it got us. Once we had two up front West Brom coulden't handle us and we was always looking like a winning side.

I think Distin did well at the back and put in some crucial tackles along with the likes of Tony Hibbert and Leighton Baines (his yellow card was silly but going forward I thought he was decent). In the midfield Heitinga did all that was asked of him and Osman did a few decent runs down the wing although he didn't excite me as much as he has done in previous weeks.

Neville was poor and was right to be taken off whilst the subs Stracq and Anichebe did well, Stracq for me was our man of the match as when he stepped onto the pitch the game changed, he challenged their defence, held balls up for Cahill/Gueye/Anichebe and actually looked like scoring for me. Based on the performance that he's just put in I hope Moyes goes on to sign him when his loan deal runs out.

  9. Don't see how everyone was critisising Everton today, we played well against a team that is having a good run of form and came into this match at home knowing full well that they could get a result considering they took two points of Manchester City last week. I thought we looked a little negative in the first half but managed to contain the West Brom XI well and in the second we unleashed hell. I was especially glad that Moyes made his changes around the 60 minute mark rather than leaving it till about ten minutes to go when people can't do anything.

I just wish that Moyes sees how the game changed when we had two strikers on the pitch. As soon as Saha was took off and we put Stracq and Anichebe up front we looked like we could have scored around six or seven, the floodgates opened for us in attack and there was only going to be one winner. Anichebe took his goal well dispite all the pressure from the Brom defence and his own players and I just hope and pray that against Bolton we play Anichebe/Denis up front as I know with this formation we will stuff them.

Whatever anybody says about the result the facts are clear - West Brom had no shots on target in the whole game and we managed a comfortable 1-0 win away from home, nobody could ask more than that I'm afraid.

  10. You can probably buy BioShock 2 on the cheap now too considering that its an old game. BioShock is a fanstastic snatch for £3 though as there is so much to do in such a well crafted world. Dead Island in my opinion was another solid zombie game which coupled with nice visuals and an eerie setting made it rather fun to play, it had a few flaws at the start as the missions seemed very repetative but once you actually break into the main story the game is worth your time of day.

The best out of the bunch by far though is LA Noire, I've finished that twice now including the four DLC cases that Rockstar have made available and it's one of the best Rockstar/Team Bondi games I've played with its replay value being second to none.

  11. I can see where Donovan is coming from. If he comes back and fails to score, fails to make an impact and is generally as shit as Louis Saha's left bollock then he's going to be critisised and remembered for being a one hit wonder. I can see how he may be a little worried about playing for us but I believe that he will do well, he is more than good enough and I think he will fit in and become just as good he was two years ago.

The same is with Thierry Henry in my opinion, if he comes back to Arsenal and ends up being a flop then he will lose some of that 'star' status that he has within the club at the moment, its like Michael Schumacher too in Formula 1, when he retired he was one of the greatest racing drivers in the world with more trophies than you could shake a stick at and when he came back with Mercedes he is just another driver in the field not really doing anything to write home about. People will always have that star status like Henry and Schumi but sometimes coming back for more can not be a good thing.

  12. The reason that Beckford left is because Moyes knew that he woulden't a top striker at our club. I'm not saying that he didn't have a good first season with us because he did but if look at him now at Leicester City he has only managed to score two goals for them which, when you consder they play in the tier below us shows that he wasn't cut out to be a 30 goal a season striker like we all thought he could be. We signed him on a free and sold him for £2,500,000 which in my opinion is good business.

Similarly with Arteta. Mikel hadn't been performing of late and I was under the impression that he was about to do a Cahill (i.e - go from being one of the clubs best players to one of the worst), add that to the fact that he wanted Champions League football and a last shot at breaking into the Spanish national team and its obvious to see why he left us. Arteta is similar to Beckford too in that we bought him cheap from Real Sociedad and sold him for a bit more, it's good business.

  13. ...but the job Yak is doing at the moment would make him the ideal striker for us in my opinion.

That's my point exactly. I agree that Yakubu can be the best striker in the world but he's just too lazy to ever do it week in and week out. The only reason that he is looking so good for Blackburn is because he is in a new team and he is working his arse off which he has done all his career. Whenever he gets into a new team he does well and then slowly dips in form until he is useless. I agree that we are crying out for a striker but Yakubu is not the answer, the argument that he would have been scoring the same amount of goals for us and he has been doing at Blackburn in my opinion is invalid because he would have been playing for us with the same, lazy mental state that he had been doing for the past 2 or 3 years.

  14. I'm not saying he's got more than our leading goalscorers. I'm talking about our whole side put together. That's ever so slightly embarrassing.

I know, I agree with you totally Romey. The fact that Yakubu has managed to find the net more than our whole team put together is as embarrasing as it gets also taking into account that he plays at arguably the worst side in the division, I just wanted to highlight the fact that even our best goalscorers this season arn't exactly anything to write home about as I'm sure if Titus Bramble was stuck up front for us every week he'd managed to get just as many as them.

Not wanting to jump on the 'Donovan Bandwagon' but surely he could realistically become our leading goalscorer this season?

  15. Yak alone has almost as many goals this season as our entire team.

Our entire team have been piss poor in front of goal this season and I'm sure that most clubs will have players that have scored more than our leading goalscorers. I'm sure that the player with the most goals in our team this season is 3 which is shared between Leighton Baines (probably from three penalties), Leon Osman and Vellios. It's a shame really that Saha hasn't even managed to get up there considering he is our 'first-choice striker'

Hmmm, bit of a far cry from the Suarez thread lol. Folks discussing things as adults? Nah, can't be. tongue.png

Yakubu is a thug shaking fist.png

  16. My opinion is exactly the same as Avinalaff here, Yakubu was right to be sold because if he would have still been playing with us this season he would have been just as bone idol as Saha. On that point actually it will be interesting to see what people say when Louis leaves and starts banging in goals for his new club, most strikers will start in a new team on red-hot form but will always tail off as they get more and more comfortable in their positions (Yakubu is no different). It's a no brainer for me - the sale of Yakubu was a good one.

Along with this whilst I am not attacking you personally Blueboy I can't agree that he should have been kept on our books just because he had one good game against Liverpool. Jermaine Beckford has a fanstastic game against Chelsea yet we will kept him and I'm sure some of our other flops such as Kroldrup and Jacobsen had a really good game whilst they were here - in the Premiership players need to put in good games every week to earn their place in a team not just play when they can be arsed.

But like you said it's frustrating, he could have been banging in 20 goals a season for us but he was just too bone idol.

  17. Just been down to the bookies to put on my matchday bets!

I've got Arsenal down for a home win against QPR, Fulham to win away from home against Norwich (and they are winning 1-0 as we speak), Stoke City to beat Wigan at the Britannia, Tottenham to win in Wales against the Swans and Manchester City to get back to winning ways tomorrow against Sunderland! I was going to put a bet on Chelsea too but I thought it was a bit too risky for the return I'd get considering the way they have been playing (even though they've just gone 1-0 up through a Drogba penalty).

If I win my bets - £68.15 in my wallet, happy days!

  18. Laughing we sold him for £1.5m. It shows too though what a 'couldn't give a toss' player he was while he was here.

Exactly. Yakubu was lazy for us and it was a correct decision for Moyes to have sold him as he was never going to be banging in the goals for us. The spell he is having at Blackburn is the same as he does at every club, in his first year at Portsmouth he smashed in goals and then became lazy and he did the same as Boro too. He had become bored with playing for Everton and his performances on the pitch showed just that. Once this season is over expect him to flop down the pecking order due to his bone idleness not to mention the fact that he's probably found his level, with joining Blackburn and becoming arguably their best player he is inevitably going to get a confidence boost whilst at Everton he was always fighting for competiton with the likes of Saha, Anichebe, Vellios and Beckford.

  19. Lampard could go to a few clubs because its obvious that he still has the talent. I read that article that you posted and it said that Frank has been sparking interest from both Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid, so if he dosen't get into LA Galaxy for whatever reason I can see him moving to either one of those two clubs. I can't see David Beckham moving away from Galaxy if he's urging his England team-mates to come to the United States with him and I'm thinking that's maybe where he will end his career.

  20. Cheers Blueboy! I was starting to think whether it was me being pedantic but it's good to know that someone else understands how sad Avinalaff's recent posts are, it seems that some people come on here just to try and find an argument which is sad and out of place considering that this is a forum for Everton Football Club. My experiances have been the same with you Blueboy, whereas he hasn't tried to stalk me on Facebook and Twitter he did spend rather a long time trying to continue our little 'discussion' even though I had stated that I had said all I was going to say about Big Dunc.

I agree with you on all that you have said but I have to admit that you should calm down as with a few more posts like that you could be having a call from Avinalaff's gang of hard-knocks!

  21. I've not taken that much time and effort really I've just been defending someone because I think he's a legend at our club and I find it strange that he's being branded a thug considering how much he has done for us. I would understand if it was someone that had only played a handful of matches for us but when it's a player like Duncan I find it rather strange.

Duncan is a hardman yes, but I didn't say he was some form of an MMA World Champion so I think that the argument you brought up there was quite naff if I'm being honest. Along with that it's nice to know that you know a few hardmen, I never knew that you was part of some underground gang. I'm guessing if I argue too much with you you'll send a few of them round to my house?

I'm not going to post any more about this topic anyway whether you reply or not, I've put my point across and I'm happy to see him as an Everton legend rather than the thug you're trying to brand him as. I joined this forum to discuss Everton and how they were playing not to slag off our ex players.

  22. Couldn't really care if you think it's quite sad mate. It's my opinion, and I thought the guy was a thug. Get over it. Keene was a thug too, as was Gerrard. Do you think because we're Everton we only have saints? If there was a poll of the games top 20 thugs, Ferguson would be in it.

No we are not saints it's just that I find it rather strange that you would take so much time and effort to argue and put down one of your own players. Surely you would just make one post about how you think he is a thug rather than going on and on about it to everybody that has a different opinion. Duncan wasn't a thug he was just a hardman and sadly the few moments of madness he had when he lashed out have had him penned as somebody that he is not. Whilst he was here he scored more than enough goals for us that helped us with the league and relegation battles and I think that its quite upsetting to see that all of that is being over-looked by the fact that he's lashed out on a few occassions.

He was a legend at our club and always will be.

  23. Ferguson was not a bully and I find it strange that someone on an Everton forum would spend so much time and effort trying to put down one of the great legends that we have had at this club. Ferguson was a hot-headed guy and there is no argument about that but when meeting him off pitch it's obvious what a nice guy the man really is. Sure he's been involved in one or two incidents on the pitch but people have been asking for it (for example - Scharner insulted him in his language) and along with that point name me someone that hasn't been involved in an incident; Roy Keane, Steven Gerrard, Anthony Hutton... the list is endless and it will continue to grow for as long as football is being played in this country.

Duncan was a fanstastic footballer and I find it quite sad that someone is trying to put him down like they are doing given what he has done for our beloved club.

Butting a police man? Assaulting a Hearts fan who was on crutches? Assaulting a fisherman in Anstruther? Not to mention his 'on field' bust ups, nor his putting the burglars in hospital.

So if a burglar came into your house you woulden't attack them? Give me a break.

  24. I was thinking the same myself. It has been black & white from day one that even if we signed Donovan before the window opened then we could only play him in January when we face Bolton and the window is open for all English clubs. I think that we should be able to do well without him though, he will be a much needed boost to the team but I don't want us to put all our hopes into him as a player. We are a football club that have eleven men on that pitch - not one. We need to improve as a team and work hard as a team and although Donovan can't play against WBA we should not doubt the fact that we can get a result against them because we are more than capable.

Also I'm guessing that Donovan will be playing against Tamworth? I'm guessing that Moyes will want to get as much out of him as he can before he heads back to Los Angeles Galaxy.

  25. I wouldent dream of selling Heitinga, Baines, Jagielka or Fellaini as at the moment they are all playing well. Johnny is our rock in defence and when he is playing alongside Jagielka the two of them really are a force that keeps us from conceding goals. Another trait which is valuable is that Heitinga has shown that when he gets the ball deep in defence he can play it out to feet and also advance into a more attacking roles which is what we need considering that both Jags and Distin find that task rather difficult.

Baines for me is another one that we should not be letting go - Leighton is probably our biggest playmaker which is crazy considering he is a left-back and the number of times that he darts down the left wing and overlaps the left midfieler is unreal, his crosses do usually end up with us scoring goals/hitting the target and without him I think we would really struggle to score.

Rodwell for me could go because I think he's massivly over-rated and we could get a massive sum of money for him seeing as the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham have all shown interest. I'd much rather see a top, established player in his role than him himself because in all honesty (even though most of you will disagree with me) I don't see what all the fuss is about with Jack.

Billy also can go, I like him a lot and think he should have been given more playing time but I think we all know that come the 31st of January he will be playing his trade in Germany. So to answer your question Joey I'd let Jack and Billy go and have them replaced with someone magic.
