  1. Surely we didn't have him for 10 years?!

We had David Weir for seven years between 1999 and 2007 before he left for Glasgow Rangers. I'm unsure who the last person to have a testimonial at our club would be because I'm sure that Hibbert is amongst one of the few players that Moyes has kept since he took over, pretty much the squad he recieved from Walter Smith has been totally re-jigged so I think you'd have to go back quite a few years to find out who the last person was to have a testimonial.

Well done to Hibbert though, surely he gets penalty duties!

  2. Can't be doing with that either.....vest is as bad (slight excuse if you've come from Africa and aren't used to the cold but even Rooney wears one ffshuh.png ). I assume our players aren't allowed to wear anything extra because I've never seen it happen.

I used to wear under armour, gloves and a snood when I played football so I guess that makes me the Greham Norton of Sunday League football in your eyes ;).

I'd actually take this guy but only on a trial for a little while and for a very cheap fee, it would be nice to have someone from Vietnam in our team just for a laugh but the reality might be that he's just not all that good. I was going to check Wikipedia for his goal to games ratio but that blackout thing has fucked up my search, I hate protests.

  3. I don't think that the 'awful' one that you're talking about is from 2008/09 because that was a nice kit. I bought it myself and had Fellaini put on the back because I think that was around the time when we signed him and he was the best thing since sliced bread.

Skip to 00:18 for the guy to stop being a bellend with the effects.

  4. Osman has had an opration to remove a piece of bone so it'd be a miracle if he gets on the bench wouldn't it?

Moyes has a thing for starting injured players this season so I'd imagine Ossie would get the full 90 on Saturday!

As for the result we seem to have got Blackburn at a bad time, they have just bounced Fulham 3-1 (with 10 men) and although Yakubu will be watching from the stands I think that it's going to be a lot harder than it sounds aganst the Rovers. I'll fully expect a win at home and I think we have the team to do it but I can see us coming away from Goodison on Saturday with a scrappy 1-1 draw.

  5. Totally agree with JP. We got McFadden for nothing who is a proven goalscorer at both club and country level, I can't seem to understand how Bill (and others) can come to the conclusion that he is 'fookin useless' given what he has done over the years for this club. If we would have spent big money on James then I could fully understand how people would be getting angry but I do believe that some people like to moan for moanings sake and this is what's happening here (pretty similar to the signing of Darron Gibson), he's a decent player that people are moaning about just for moanings sake.

Sometimes I wonder if we signed Lionel Messi people would send hate-mail to David Moyes because he isn't tall enough for our style of play.

    ^How useless James McFadden is.

  6. Just shows how much opinions differ. I can't stand the Celtic Away strip myself, I think it looks cheap and drawn on the back of a cornflakes packet at the design stage.

I didn't like the Celtic away shirt at first but it has grown on me a little, I still woulden't buy it though. I've been onto the Nike.com website and there is a little feature where you can create your own kit and so for the past 30 minutes or so I've been trying to make a sexy little Everton kit made by Nike (with Lionel Messi's name and number on the back).

Is that the shirt you mean Rubes? (also how do you put pictures onto the forum? I've tried embedding it withing tags but nothing will work..)

  7. I just like it because it's something different to your average football shirt. I can understand why people don't like it and if Nike was going to make us a shirt then they would probably be asked by the board to make the image something that represents Everton. So instead of having a large dragon on our arm we would up with a large toffee-lady, or even worse Mr.Testicles that made an appearance at our ground last season!

The trouble with you Mike is that even if you hate it and your son loves it you're the one that's paying ;)

  8. I dont think he would. If we had everybody fit I doubt he would be in our starting XI , Moyes has already proved that this season

    Agreed.

Moyes has dropped Cahill numerous times this season so its obvious that he knows Tim is past his best. I'm not saying that he drops him enough because for me Timmy shoulden't have had as many minutes that he has had but I disagree with the argument that Moyes has been playing him for every game that he is fit for.

Against Norwich (I think) he was whizzed off the pitch and then dropped and this is something that has happened numerous times this season. I genuinly believe that if Moyes gets a good offer for Tim (which I'm thinking could come from Mark Hughes' QPR) then he will be packing.

  9. Didn't think it needed its own thread considering its on the same topic but it sounds as if Glasgow Rangers could go into administration soon (something which has me shocked at the very least). It might just be me missing something but are they really saying that one of the biggest Scottish clubs could end up plummeting into nothing? This would surely mean the Celtic would dominate in Scotland but on the flip-side on place in Europa would be freed for someone new such as Hearts, Dundee, Motherwell...

Also with Celtic being my second club I'd much rather see that it is the blue half of Glasgow that went rather than the hoops.

    The article is below for those that want to read;

  10. I don't think that you can complain about a young lad that wants to play for the club. I'm sick and tired of seeing our players playing badly and not giving a shit so it makes a nice change that Shane has come out and said that he will do all that he can for the club. I woulden't mind sticking someone that has a good understanding of the Premier League in Shane's place on the cheap but I'd much rather see Shane there than spending millions on someone else, I think that with some experiance he could turn into something good.

  11. If we could get anything like the Inter Milan away kit from last season then I'd be doing somersaults around my back-garden for a month. The dragon on the arm looks pretty awesome for a footy kit and I'd love Everton to have something similar (which could happen considering that the Milan kit was made by Nike). I've liked the Le Coq kits and haven't had a problem with them but the little boy inside me is rather excited that we are finally going to have our shirts made by the wonderful Nike.

Anything like that or the Manchester United home would do nicely!

  12. Would be a good addition to the team but wouldn't pay 10m for him. We could spend 10m better.

Think his contract's up in the summer.

His contract is up in the summer because there is a strong rumour that he is going to sit on the Chelsea bench until the end of the season racking up his big-bucks wages and then leave for free. This is the reason that Chelsea are desperate to get rid of him now because they know that he's going and want to cash in. For me it's a go'er but I do think that wages could be an issue for us.

  13. I don't understand how Duffy has managed to get two MOTM votes considering he was at fault for their goal. I'm not having a go at the lad because he is only young but surely giving Aston Villa a goal which put us on the backfoot eliminates him from being a MOTM contender? Maybe it's just me being harsh, I thought Shane had a good game and can hold his head up high but I really can't understand how he was better than the likes of Landon Donovan and Victor Anichebe.

  14. There are some reports saying that he is willing to sit on the Chelsea bench until the end of the season and walk out on a free. I think that personally we could tempt him to come to us we would just need to meet his wage demands (which are rumoured to be in the region of £70,000 p/w) which could surely be achieved through offloading big money players such as Arteta and Pienaar. I'd love to see him at Everton and I'm sure he's got goals in him, he would surely be a great replacement for ol' Louis Saha.

  15. I'd cry with happieness over this.

If Kalou signs for us this transfer window I'll be so happy that I will personally run down to the Goodison Park Megastore, buy everyone on ToffeeTalk a new Everton shirt with his name and number on the back and deliever it in person to all of their houses. This is the type of signing that we've been crying out for - get him snapped up Moyes!

    On second thoughts...

  16. Donovan, for that pass to Vic. Completely destroyed the Villa back-line with that through ball.

The reason for my vote also.

The pass through from Landon to Vic was something to be admired and it's something which I have been crying out for all season. We always seem to pass the ball sideways rather than playing through balls and look what it got us - a goal. My MOTM although there was some nice appearances from Gibs and Vic (especially with the way he slotted the ball past Given).

  17. United States forward Landon Donovan' date=' who is on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy, played a perfect through-ball for substitute Victor Anichebe to level past Everton's American keeper Tim Howard.[/quote']

    I don't remember that part...

It seemed like a good game from the highlights although I must admit I was half asleep when watching. Duffy seemed to have a good game although he was at fault for Bent's goal, as a Premiership defender he should have headed/kicked that into Row Z rather than straight out to Stephen Ireland.

Our goal was simply stunning however, Donovan's pass was so accurate that it made me think Lionel Messi had shown up for our team in the second half, if Anichebe hadn't of finished from that pass then all hell would have broken loose, a nice finish from Big Vic too, nice to see him on the scoresheet for the second time in a short period of time.

  18. I would have taken the point today considering how we went into the game. We've been playing piss poor of late (as we all know) and whereas I'd normally expect a solid three points against Villa I'm glad that we managed to take one away from home. I've not actually seen any of the game but by the sounds of it Donovan has improved, his first few games against Tamworth and Bolton saw him as an anonymous bufoon but it's good to know he's getting into form. Duffy seemed to have a good debut apart from being at fault from their goal (which I will decide when I watch later) and from what I heard our super-signing Gibbo did well.

Positive day in my book. (although did Vic get injured? I heard he carried on so I'm guessing it was just a heat of the moment thing rather than a 6 weeks job

  19. Never a foul from Gibson - who's fitted in well.

Good to hear that Gibs has fitted in well and even better to hear that Big Vic has popped up with a goal. I'll be watching the game later on Match of the Day to see what went right and what went wrong but from what I've heard it's been a decent game of football from our lads (bar Neville, Saha and Drenthe). Let's see if we can push on now for the win!

    2-1 I'll say - I'm feeling optemistic.

  20. Boro the only problem is that if we sold we would never re-build as such as the Board would plunder the money back to the banks and other debt's so we are pretty much stuck in a rut...

That is the only trouble I have with Everton selling key players, we never really seem to replace them quickly enough and we will go for 12-18 months with large holes in our team. As if stands now you could say we haven't replaced Pienaar or Arteta (I know this could probably be argued and off the top of my head it might seem a poor argument) but I just get the feeling that at Everton all the money we get from players gets sent to the bank and we end up signing £1,000,000 players and loan deals.

sell howard? who would you replace him with?

Selling Howard is a crazy idea.

  21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4ZKml92PZA

For those that haven't seen it there is a goal he scored against Wales for the Republic of Ireland (above) which is something similar to the goal that Josh mentioned before against Spurs

If he can come up with anything like that at Goodison Park then it's money well spent, one of the things I've been saying all season is that I don't mind it when players take a shot from 30-yards or so and knock it ten feet over the bar, at least they are having a go. I am a strong believer in the term - 'If you don't shoot you won't score' and this term is true to Everton at the moment, we don't shoot enough and therefore we don't win enough.

Hopefully Gibson is the first stepping stone to solving that problem.
  22. Yeah, except Jags isn't worth $20m like it seems everyone on the board and Moyes have valued him at. He's worth 12-15 tops. He's nearly thirty, has been in poor form lately, and is coming off an injury.

If we could get big bucks for Jagielka then I would say sell him seeing as his form has dipped lately. I'd also sell Rodwell too as I think it's only a matter of time before people realise he's an over-rated youngster and refuse to pay big bucks for him, I'd ship him off as soon as we can and sign someone decent who I am slightly confident could be Gibson. I'm pretty pumped about him to be honest and I don't see where all the negative press is coming from...

I can't wait to see him in a royal blue shirt.

  23. this has majorly ignited rumours of rodwell to utd in the summer...

For me Rodwell can go, he's got to be one of the most over-rated players that we have had at this club and to see him go for a large sum of cash would be happy days for me. I'm pleased to see Gibson come as he can't be that if he's played under Sir Alex and he surely isn't worse than what we've already got. Whilst he wears the Royal Blue he will get a cheer from me, I look forward to see him in action soon!

Also for £500,000 we have got him on the cheap, the money we have paid for him is peanuts in football terms and if he does turn out to be shite then I'm sure we could sell him for at least double that and make a cosy profit.

  24. Totally agree, been saying this for ages, It seems Moyes sends out the team for a 0-0 draw, but when teams score against us we have no answer cause our set up is so negative!

I don't really mind when we set up for a 0-0 draw against the good teams. I mean tonight I would have actually accepted a defensive team because of the way that Spurs are playing in the same way that I accepted a defensive team against Manchester City because they were smacking arse left, right and centre. The fact is that in almost every game we set up defensivly but never look like we are bothered, whether we are playing defensive or not we need to actually play football and that is something that we are not doing at this club and it's upsetting.

We need inspiration and drive from somewhere if we are to succeed.

  25. Not seen the game yet so I can't comment but I can see both sides to the Duffy argument. On the one hand he has come on as a young lad and done really well for us against Spurs but on the other hand he's only played 29 minutes meaning that he's not had to cope with personal fitness levels and Spurs playing with full stamina. I can see where both lots of people are coming from I'll just have to stick on Match of the Day and rate Shane for myself. Nice to see him getting a run out though as with any young lad that comes through the ranks.

Hope he stays and becomes a first team regular because from the sounds of things he seems to have the potential and ability.
