  1. How's that? What did he do wrong according to you? (not having a go at you btw, it's just that I saw it different, and you seem very adamant based on a 10 minute appearance)

    No offence taken :)

And for me he was poor because whenever he went for the ball in the air he seemed to get pushed off it and right at the end when we just needed some composure and some time away from our own box he would fuck it up for us. I remember one instance where we had the ball near our own corner flag and he volleyed the ball over his own head and back into our own box (Fellaini had to track back and hoof the ball clear), had a City shirt been in position we would have been at 1-1. It was a school-boy error.

He got a shot towards goal in around the 88th minute which was poor IMO, it was straight at the defender (Clichy I think...) and was about a powerful as a wet fart.

I really think Baxter could have something given his build and speed (which I must say was good in the 10 minutes we saw) but I woulden't exactly relegate Stracq and Vellios for him.

  2. On bench for man city

From the moment I saw that I knew he wasn't going to be ours. I had to cheer myself up with a pint of Chang but I'm really happy with how January has gone. I really, really liked Billy but I'd rather have Jelly than him and I do believe that Gibson is going to be a monster for us. For the first time in ages I can say I am happy to be a fan of Everton Football Club.

Who knows, Johnson in the summer? Only time will tell.

  3. I gave it to Denis because for the first time this season he allowed us to have a striker in the team. His work ethic is un-questionable and when he got onto the ball he managed to do something with it. Even if the pass that he made didn't come off he would run his arse off to go and get the ball back. I'd be more than happy to sign him up for the right fee because he puts so much into this club and it rubs off onto the other players.

Notable mentions for Donovan and Heitinga too.

Baxter I thought was poor - back to Tranmere please.

  4. Find that very hard to believe...whatever you think of them they've always said they'll leave it outside the ground and get behind the team. The guy will probably be banned for life....can't see a bloke with his obvious intelligence being that daft.

Sorry, I found it hard to believe too but I thought with the article that it might have been true. It has been confirmed that the man was protesting against Ryanair after his daughter wasn't allowed to have a job there (or something) and the T-Shirt proves that Ryanair is who he is against.

I can only guess that he chose to do it at Goodison for publicity rather than to have a go at BK and the likes.

...at least I got a chance to have a pop at the Blue Union.

  5. Wiki says 9, but isnt Donovan No. 9?

I'd imagine that he would take number 7 as Billy has left. The rumour around the ground was that he will take the number 9 shirt once Donovan has gone but I'm unsure if that is in the FA rules, I'm sure once you are given a shirt number you have to keep it till the end of the season. When he came on the pitch today his shirt just said 'Jelovic' there was no number...

  6. The fan that was handcuffed to the post is rumoured to be Dave Kelly (leader of the Blue Union) - what a twat.

On the brighter side I thought that we played well today. Howard did well at the back along with Baines, Hibbert (who I was at first angry with because he started above Duffy) Heitinga. Neville had a bad game again but the others managed to mop up well for him. Gibson had a mediocre first half along with Drenthe but took his goal well and I thought that Donovan was a key player for us today.

Stracq did okay, but ran his arse off once again so he is still in my good books

Over the moon that we have Jelavic.

  7. I doubt he will be playing tonight which makes me heartbroken.

On a serious note this raises our chances against City tonight. Either Stracq or Vellios will play up front (both have proven they can score goals) and this will be their game to prove to Moyes that they can be a part of our team for the future. I'm loving today and don't want it to end, it has to be one of the highlights of the season for us!

That is, if Moyes dosen't play TC up front and put someone else in attacking-midfield.

  8. I'm still sticking to my prediction.

He has left the ground to change his clothes so that he can go onto the pitch tonight and be un-veiled. He might have gone into negotiations in just a shirt and jeans and probably fancies wearing a suit and tie for the game. It's no biggie in my mind, for all Everton like to fuck things up I don't think that they would let Jelavic slip through our fingers. It's been obvious from, Day 1 that he has wanted to come here so I don't see what the problem would be.

Article for anyone that wants a read.

  9. Rangers have had a bid rejected by Norwich for Grant Holt - looking for a replacement

I would have liked Holt to have gone to Rangers. He's a dirty little twat and it would mean he was out of our league, I remember walking out of Goodison fuming that he was still on the pitch when we played them earlier this season.

why is this not confirmed yet?! its been hours!

The club might be planning an epic un-veiling against Manchester City tonight (along with their own boy Johnson!)

  10. My God, I genuinely thought we City fans were pessimists, but you lot put us to shame!

I persoanlly think we will win tonight. We will come into the game with bags of confidence after the FA Cup victory over Fulham and Manchester City are having a bad spell (as BlueSky pointed out) so they are there for the taking. We may concede a goal but I can see us scoring too, I'll guess at a 2-1 win for us which would make me a very happy man, we always seem to raise our game against the big teams.

Let's be optemistic - it's the only way to be.

  11. Meanwhile' date=' [i']Sky Sports[/i] understands Everton's move for Greek defender Kostas Manolas has fallen through. Everton have held a long-term interest in the AEK Athens stopper, but they have been unable to strike a deal before the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday night. However, Everton remain in talks with the player's representatives about a possible pre-contract deal, with Manolas out of contract at the end of the season.

...Interesting. I thought that Manolas was in the bag this window, it appears not.

    Phillip Green

    Many thanks mate!

  12. I'm (as I've said before) less and less impressed all the time, but if we can get him on a free and his wage demands are reasonable I'd sign him then move him on like Beckford....unless he starts impressing in which case (try to) keep him.

Whether you like him or not I think its a unanimous decision to try and keep hold of him on a free. I would be happy to go on with your mentality, sign him up and see if he can do well at our club (which I believe he can be) and if he ends up being terrible we can sell him to his beloved Feyernoord.

  13. Drenthe looks threatening on the ball and always looks like doing something when going forward. Our team this season has become obsessed with passing sideways and back whilst Drenthe seems to rip up our rulebook and push forward for a goal. This season alone like marcopaulo said he has got us points and has been the differance between a defeat and a victory.

It would be a tragedy if we did not sign him on a free and I'm sure that in the summer Moyes will put all his time and effort into making sure that Royston is with us next season.

  14. Please someone send me a link a picture anything to show Saha is gone. If this is true I take back everything I said about moyes and the board.

Nobody can do that I'm afraid just yet, as he's still an Everton player. Having said that here is the latest on the 'Saha Saga' so that you can get your hopes up with the rest of us. (http://www.dailymail...-Saha-loan.html).

It's also a strong rumour that Pav is in talks with another club, so Saha may well be in a Spurs shirt come Wednesday. I found a link for you on the situation in case you want to read up about it. (http://www.dailymail...nd-bust-up.html)

    Edit:

Louis Saha is no longer at Everton.

  15. We have a chief executive and his underlings to sort deals out.

That's what I was trying to get across ;)

I don't know 100% who is in charge of transfers and negotiations but I doubt very highly that we can only negotiate with one person at a time. It's much more likely and practical to have a team of people working to get as many players into our club as possible.

  16. What worries me about this deal is the fact if it takes all day to sort then theres no chance of getting anyone else in!!

I disagree, Moyes will do talks with several players today and if needs be will make Steve Round hold talks with other players. All of the Everton staff that have negotiating skills will be at Moyes' disposal to talk to as many players as they possibly can given the deadline situation so I would not be surprised if for example we have Moyes speaking to Jelavic, Round speaking to Hoarou and some more negotiators of the club speaking to the likes of Pienaar, Doyle and Messi.

    I woulden't worry.

  17. Not got Sky Sports in the house so I can't join you at Yellow Bar HQ!

There is a report here saying that he is almost ours and that Moyes is still looking into bringing PSG star Hoarou which would be very nice, even if it's only on loan. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jan/30/everton-nikica-jelavic-rangers?newsfeed=true)

Wikipedia keeps saying that he is our player too, so surely the deal is done. Maybe they are just saving it till the morning so that they can officially unveil him (i.e - hold a press conferance right away etc..)

  18. Bugger, maybe you're right C! I'll word my questions better next time. I just thought that it might have been a little hint seeing as it's such a vast topic.

You've guessed correctly anyway, Cantona scored a hat-trick for Leeds United on the 25th of August 1992 against Tottenham when they won 5-0 at home. It was the first hat-trick seeing as the Premier League started that year. The second one came in November on the 9th when Mark Robins became the first English player to score a hat-trick in the Premier League when Norwich beat Oldham Athletic 3-2.

Zoo's Question of the Day Round 5:

Who is the only goalkeeper to have scored a hat-trick at proffessional level?

Answer: Chilavert scoring three free-kicks in a single match for his club.

  19. In all my years of supporting Everton I've never known for us to have had a Plan C when it comes to buying players. Kevin Doyle would be nice (as would Vossen) but in my opinion they arn't in the same ball-park as Jelavic. I'd rather we signed Jelly but if we don't then I'd be happy with Kev and Voss. Let's just see how tomorrow night pans out!

I'd all be for sending Baxter up north though for some experiance (maybe even at a push Vellios just so long as they don't sign him).

  20. Nice, thanks for that. We should get Jelavic for the right price considering the financial crisis that is going on at Ibrox. I'd imagine come Wednesday Manolas and Jalovic will be in our team and that is something that I'm happy about even if Manolas might not feature regularly because of his age.

Plus £500,000 is good money in this day and age. A good bit of business from Moyes - thanks for the link Duncan.

  21. I don't know why people wouldn't be happy about this signing tbh - he can head, he's strong, he hold the ball up, he can shoot with both feet, he works hard, good control, most importantly he knows where the net is.

My thoughts too, he is going to be a really good signing for us and he will be a signing that we actually need. At the worst case scenario he will be asked to play alongside Louis Saha which could still allow him to score goals (and hell, maybe even give Louis some assists), either way I'm very happy with this rumour and I'll be really pleased if he comes to us.

However Glasgow Rangers still believe that he will come to us. (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/rangers/9049488/Rangers-hopeful-of-keeping-Nikica-Jelavic-as-Everton-wait-in-wings.html)

  22. Goddam'it stop f*ckin with my mind!!! Arrrgggghhhh....aha. Aren't you only a few years younger than me!? How is this possible....laugh.png

I'm 18. But that's only in Animus years...

See the film Wanted for this. Rubbish! But you see Jolie's arse

I watched that with my ex-girlfriend (obviously when I was still with her) and the only good part about that film was when Jolie got her arse out. The rest of it was total bullshit. I still to this day can't believe that my ma called her a 'minger'. It's the closest I've ever come to violece against my own family.

  23. I don't really like talking about it too much out of respect for Gary but I find it hard to believe that he has hanged himself by 'accident'. It's also very sad what he has done because I'm sure that every couple has arguments and every couple has bad patches, it's just really tragic that the differences between him and his wife have caused him to take his own life. I find it confusing as to where he did it too, as initially he was supposed to have done it in the garage but there is a mention of a banister - who has a banister in the garage?

He is still missed and after meeting him it's all the more upsetting. I hope the press don't go too over-board with the story because there really isn't a need, he was a good man and someone who should be allowed to lay at rest.
