Dodge
Ronal-D'oh: Homer joins Manchester United in new Simpsons episode Last updated at 16:27pm on 3rd February 2008 Comments Cartoon legend Homer Simpson is teaming up with Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United in an hilarious new episode of the cult TV show. Overweight Homer will take time out from a family holiday in England to work out with the likes of genius Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand in a bid to get fit. The special episode featuring Homer and his catchphrase "D'oh!" is likely to be aired on Channel 4 later this year. A source told The People: "Americans have taken more notice of football now that David Beckham is playing in the US. "Show bosses also know any trip the Simpsons take to the UK wouldn't be complete without a nod to football - and Manchester United are the best-known team. "Most of the United lads are keen to get involved because it's such an iconic show. "So getting them on board to do their own voices really shouldn't be a problem." The Simpsons has previously featured celebs such as Elizabeth Taylor and Tony Blair in cartoon form. Ex-Man United star Beckham, 32, is said to have turned down a role last year because scriptwriters had mocked his alleged affair with Rebecca Loos. Hosting Channel 4's Alternative Christmas Message in 2004, Marge Simpson said of her marriage to Homer: "Our union is as solid as the union between your David Beckham and Posh Spice. "Oh, he did that? With his assistant? That's so sad. OK, moving on..."

MikeO
Don't really think this counts as a fooball topic so it's moved. Unlikely United players will play themselves I think for the same reason Beckham wouldn't do it. All Simpsons guest stars play caricatures and must be able to laugh at themselves. Ferguson et al take themselves far too seriously to do it imo. Edited February 11, 2008 by MikeO
