duncanmckenzieismagic
The Mirror linking us with a swoop for 16yr old left winger "Everton boss David Moyes has set up a surprise swoop for England youth winger Alex Henshall - as well as plotting new faces for his first team. Moyes is in the lead to land the 16-year-old sensation from Swindon. Henshall dazzled in the recent prestigious Milk Cup tournament in Ireland and shone against the Goodison kids in one game. Left winger Henshall, who has broken into the England ranks despite playing for a lower league outfit, has also been hunted by Manchester United and Chelsea. But Everton have moved in first and hope that Henshall signs this week, with the fee to be decided by a compensation tribunal panel. If the Swindown youngster puts pen to paper he can join Everton immediately, with the plan to push him on quickly through their ranks." Calico
The Milk Cup seems to be a precursor for talent which turns into established quality or am I confusing it with other youth tournaments?
big gorgeous
The Milk Cup seems to be a precursor for talent which turns into established quality or am I confusing it with other youth tournaments? No thats correct. It has a great reputation, and has had many future stars of the game play in it. Macheda of man Utd played in last years tournament, then went on to break into the first team. It has also seen Giggs, Scholes, Beckham etc play in it. Everton always send a team accross, and have had reasonable success, winning their group for the last two years!! Ian C
The Milk Cup seems to be a precursor for talent which turns into established quality or am I confusing it with other youth tournaments? Yeah it's probably the tournament for youth talent and scouting along with the U15 thru u17 internationals. And yep, we won the Junior section of the tournament this year. Here's the roll of honour for this year: http://www.nimilkcup.org/?module=datalistdetail&itemid=abdbf7bc-395a-49bb-b2da-0736d1406c71 Alex Henshall was the MVP for the Junior section, while our very own Hallam Hope was the overall MVP. MikeO
'Manchester United and Everton set to sign wonderkid after Chelsea ruled out of chase following transfer ban' Don't want to be picky but shouldn't that be Manchester United or Everton.... We can't both sign him .

Ian C
i cant see hallam hope in the acadamy It only lists full U-18 players I think. Hope is still 15/16 IIRC. Though he has played for the 18's on occasion.
