I will post my frustrations of the squad in another thread, instead I will say that it really was a pleasure watching Big Dunc and Rooney don the blue once again. Those two played with so much passion in their short time on the field, it is clear that Big Dunc loves the club and bleeds blue. As for Rooney, I can't really fault the man for leaving us. Sure, I can see how him kissing the red badge would have winded me up but at the end of the day, he was a young player who was exposed to so many new opportunities, but his heart will always be blue.

50+ million or 45+ and a player is what I'd ask for. A lot can be done with that money and while it is true that just getting the money is a risk considering we could spend it on shite players (like Liverpool have done in the past), I trust our scouts and believe that the money could be invested properly. Plus if a player is given to us (ala Cuadrado or Cahill), that could be key in our progress of improving the squad.

I'm just trying to be a realist in this situation. The optimist of me would love for him to stay with us his entire career and be our future captain. He has a lot of potential to grow and be an amazing player for us. In this market though, that does not happen too often at all.

I miss having to wake up at 4-7 am (depending on where I was living) to cheer on Everton. It's funny how it got to a point where my roommates would be able to tell whether Everton got a good result or not depending on how I acted hours after a game finished. I'm truly excited for the season to eventually kick off... and will probably get frustrated like i have at many points on a game by game basis. But there are things, like the thrashing of Man U that you look forward to and I want that to be a part of my weekends again. Forever, COYB

Mirallas came from the Greek league and was totally untested in the Premier. It's pointless to look at prices paid a few years ago now that clubs have much more money. We also paid 9 million for Bilyaletdinov if that helps.

That is true, he did come from the Greek league, but he was bought to be a starter and a key player on the wings. Surely the tv money has not had that big of an impact a couple of seasons later... right?

Fair point on Bily though, I did not realize that is what we paid for him.

I just thought of this, how much did we pay for Mirallas a couple of seasons ago? 6 mil? 8 mil? There's no way we are paying that much for a back up CB, it just doesn't make sense. I wouldn't mind bringing him on but not for that price, no way.
