Talked to a friend of mine who follows both Barca and their B side. He said that Sergi needs consistent playing time but that he has seen a lot of potential for him to grow and be a great playmaker. Sounds like a perfect candidate for a loan/loan to buy option if possible.

How in the heck are we rumored to be paying so much for a player on their last year of their contract? That money can definitely be much better spent than Jonny Evans. I'd rather see us throw Galloway in the deep end than pay so much money. Surely we can do better for that price.
-
And that dive by the English player was... disgusting. I hope the ref was just giving a make up call and didn't actually believe it
-
Another pen given when contact was outside the box, unlucky for England. I'm more than made up Germany missed their pk and we converted ours to get the lead.

barkley wasn't played under moyes except a few small cameos. he had his breakout season under RM (his first season). i would definately include him in there.
Yeah dude this guy isn't starting in front of stones or jags, all the CB we are linked with are backup players, no need to worry there.
Fair enough, he had a pretty good year two years ago. I know Roberto said his injury right before the season started definitely put him on the wrong foot the rest of the way so I can only hope with some rest, he'll be firing for us this year.
The reason I mention him not being a starter is simply because he is still relatively young (27) and started in a handful of games for them despite not being 1st choice. Why would he want to come here and have a similar if not smaller role for us? Just throwing it out there.

this sounds good. RM has a great track record of getting players that just need more confidence (lennon, barkley, gerry, romelu, stones) to get to their best, and if he has a great skill set, this could be the perfect setting for him. 27 is a great age as well, and if they paid 11m for him, maybe we can get him for a deal since they just splashed on Mandzukic.
I would definitely not include Barkley on that list, he had a very sub-par season and I'd argue it is partly due to Roberto playing him out on the wing. Lukaku is a bit eh as he was already scoring goals prior to his move here. Gerry is a coin flip, he was getting better before his injury and then was ok after coming back. Lennon/Stones have been great though and Roberto's style of play suits him well.
As for Ogbonna, my friend who's a Juve fan rates him but as the article mentions, he has his lapse of concentration moments. I wouldn't want him starting in front of Jags/Stones though

Happy to see I agree with everyone when putting a high price on Stones. I haven't seen a natural defender have so much potential in quite a while, and he's only going to get better and better!

The amount of people that take the bait... reminds me of a certain forum I post in...

Deulofeu rt'd this. Translates to, "Keep working hard brother, go somewhere where they value you, show what you're capable of, best of luck Gerard". Really fast if those numbers are to be believed.

I can't read Spanish Pete so no idea what it says mate but it's still all only rumours. It's even disappeared off Sky now.
I was about to post a summary of the article until Bill pretty much translated it quite well . Really want this to happen, hope it really does

He's magic you know, Deulofeu! Damn it I'm starting to get sucked into this and believing...

US goalkeeper had a heck of a game, shame we missed a handful of games. Apparently he signed for a Bundesliga team, we may have our future US GK in the wings

Kinda on MC's boat for Podolski. If I remember correctly, he did pretty well with Arsenal last season with limited playing time but did not score much at all with Inter this season. Going to have to ask my buddy (who's an Arsenal fan) about him but I'm a bit torn. How much would wages be if he did want to come? Who knows.
-
He's not our player and City won't pay that for Phil Jones -_-
? I must admit I am confused... oh I got it
-
If Man City (allegedly) offered 30 million for Sterling... then I want at least 50 for our (potential) future captain.
-
I've seen numbers that have ranged from 3-10 million, regardless of what number it is, you definitely bring him in for that fee.

Lol I'm not gullible enough to believe things on Twitter are true, I was simply making an observation
-
Twitter is blowing up with a rumor saying that his agent is at Finch Farm
-
Team kinda slept through the 1st half but Rapinoe was an engine out there and her second goal where everyone else looked tired really showed that. Solid win, on to the next one

I've been a Deulofeu fan since day one, I'd love to see him back in Everton blue.

Heitinga was a decent center back but a poor midfielder (though he hardly ever played there for us I don't think); universal delight when we signed him if I recall correctly. Neville was a half-decent full back who played in midfield far to often but had his moments for us, events since he left and his obvious love for United even when he was here have clouded our retrospective judgement. The tackle on Ronaldo at Goodison was a seminal moment in whatever season it happened, we all loved him that day, as well as the day he had the saintly Gareth Bale (at the peak of his powers) in his back pocket for ninety minutes.
So a bit unfair I think.
Villa's fans seem to be most worried about whether Cleverley's call-up still counts as one for them due to this stat...
How very sad (specially as most of their representation probably dates back to the nineteenth century).
I don't think I'm being unfair Mike, I understand that Heitinga was a much better CB for us and the was even voted as our player of the season prior to his exit from Everton. Neville did have his moments of glory but as you pointed out, he played far too often in the midfield and I do recall games where Moyes for one reason or another played Heitinga as a CDM. While I have not seen Cleverly play too often, he has looked alright in the limited amount of games I have seen him play and as someone that can play in a couple of positions for us, I do not mind the signing at all. I simply wanted to point out that he offers better cover than Neville/Heitinga did in the CM position, no disrespect intended against either one
-
I did see an interesting tweet, something along the likes of, "We've had Heitinga and Neville in our midfield, Cleverly on a free is a good buy" and I tend to agree. Martinez has worked with him before so I expect for him to get the best out of him.

Officially on the OS, time to move the thread to the general everton forum?

As a back up CB... I'd consider it. He could also help mentor Browning and Galloway. Would rather go in for Vidic than say Jonny Evans.
