  1. Hey guys, so I know that Barkley is the best recent import from our academy right now and I know he's a midfielder and that he's on loan to Sheffield Wednesday, but that just about is all I know. So I'm hoping you guys could give me some more information.

    - What kind of player is he? Any guys he could be compared to?

    - How long is he on loan to the Owls and how much of his contract are they paying/what fee (if any) did they pay to take him on loan?

    - What is the general consensus on when he will be ready to contribute to the senior team?

As an aside, what the hell happened to Jose Baxter? He was one of the top guys in the academy last I checked and now I find out he was let go on a free and is in league one?

    Thanks guys.

  2. That's a bit diusrespectful to Leeds, who historically have been a bitch of a team to play.

Don't think I'm disrespecting them. And I'm not naive enough to believe that they can't win the game. And I'm not suggesting that we field 11 reserves. But if 2-3 guys sitting out against a middle of the pack Championship team is the difference between moving on and losing then how can we justify belonging in any major tournament? That's just my point.

  3. not sure if it was mentioned, but why the hell are people talking about fielding a weakened team?! We havent had silverware in god knows and since top 5 is going to be a challenge, we have 2 other ways into Europe - this and the FA Cup, therefore priority. If it was me....

    Howard

    Coleman Heits Distin Baines

    Felli

    Mirallas Naismith Pienaar

    Anichebe

Mucha is shocking, each time I see him and Vic is in because hes on form. No way should Pip be near this one, and if he has to be it must be RB.

If Everton can not beat Leeds because a few reserves are in then Everton doesn't deserve to be in any European tournaments.

  4. What tackle on him? Oh that one, yellow at best.

Oh forgot to mention too fellani kicked out at rangel off the ball and got nothing.

Don't see how it was a yellow "at best." It was a clear scoring opportunity. The neutral commentators here in the US agreed that Swansea got away with one because it should have been a straight red.

  5. I am not convinced about Anichebe starting. I never am though.

How many other premier teams would he ever start for? Not acceptable that for a team of Everton's caliber he is our second best option.

That being said, he was in form against Newcastle so hopefully he can carry that over to today.

  6. Not going to lie, I'm not feeling too optimistic about our ability to put the ball in the net with Jelavic out. I feel like this is going to have to be a game where we get individual brilliance from Fellaini or Baines or get a scrappy goal and hold down the fort defensively if we want to get the 3 points.

  7. Oh, and thoward18, if you get this, the Swansea game is on ESPN2 at 7:30 tomorrow morning. And, if you need to catch Everton's (or almost any other major team in Europe's) games online, go to thefirstrow.eu

I'll be watching and I'll make sure to point out every time Tim Howard does something well rofl.gif

...which will hopefully be more times than against Newcastle.

  8. NHL Thoward....? Coming from NY, Rangers?

In terms of games...my faves include.

Everton vs Bayern Munich - 85' Cup winners Cup Semi-final.

Everton vs Manchester City - Jan 2010

I'm actually a HUGE New York Rangers fan.

  9. Hello thoward18, nice to meet you, welcome to our little forum. I can't help with advice on where to watch any of te games I am afraid, but perhaps one of our other USA fans can assist you with that.

As far as the club's history is concerned, ask away I am sure you will get facts and opinions in abundance. Everton were one of the founder clubs of the football league, and also a few years ago were one of the founder clubs of the Premier League. Everton have been in the top divisions of English football for more seasons that any other club.

(I am assuming you know how the football leagues are set up?)

Haha maybe I should have been a bit more specific. I know Everton was created in 1878. I know that they were a dominant team in the 80's. I know that Liverpool is the big rival. I know they were involved in Champions league a few years ago. I know that we soId Rooney to Man U. have a very basic understanding of Everton's history. What I meant more was the specifics; important games in the team's history, important players prior to Howard coming to Everton, etc. And yes, I understand fully how the leagues are set up.
