  1. I disagree - Arteta was good from Crystal Palace in (about 5 games end of last season) and that was to earn a contract. When he signed in january 2005 he wasn't exactly a world beater and was very much overshadowed by a solid midfield imo. His tackling wasn't anywhere near as good as it is now! I thought we would, by in large, get average performances from him (like when he first signed) and for a while we did. Start of this season when he was in the middle of the park we were awful - arteta and cahill just weren't performing (neither was anyone else really). Since the Bucharest game at home when Moyesy put him down the right, he has been superb, better than ever before. And now, even when he is slotted back into centre mid, he plays extremely well - so for me, he has been a surprise - I really didnt think we would get that much talent and I think that it has brought Osman on as well - I think Osman is encouraged by it.

The disappointing surprise is a toss up between Kroldrup and Davies.

Kroldrup we didnt really get to see - he was okay at Villa (although shit in the air) and he was not up to facing Millwall at home in the cup - which was sad.

davies - I thought would have been good and its upsetting almost that he has settled into the merseyside life and the EFC team. I think that the sunderland game was crap but davies put some good passes together and some good crosses. I hope that he improves for next season.

  2. bollocks, arteta always looked class and it was obvious that if he signed up during the summer he would be an excellent signing.

    Kroldrup certainly a dissapointing suprise!

Osman a bit of a suprise, he played well last season but then lost his place and with new midfield players brought in it looked like he was losing his chance, however he got back in there, got stuck in and has really impressed since getting back in the team.

  3. do you really think that Chang is a good sponsor or Carlsberg?

yes i do. both are excellent.

gambling is a problem tho. its been a source of corruption in sport, including football. rooneys gambling debts have recently come to the attention of the fa and even sven erikson has felt it necessary to speak to him about it.

AS is alcohol - Paul Merson can vouch for that

Kilbane is always on the ale

VDM is always on the Ale

    anyone remember drunken duncan

    Paul Gascoigne

the list goes on - yet brewery companies are accepted morally - why?

  4. very nice gesture...good man

Yeah - its nice to see and i remember duncs gesture now that youlot have mentioned it...

how come, on average the RS players earn way more than our players yet you NEVER hear of them DONATING to charity in this way - you hear of them supporting charity but never giving money..

and by the way they were the only club NOT to have given a weeks wages up for the tsunami...instead the club sent the equivalent amount but the players still got paid.

    Wankers.

  5. do we want to be owned by the russian mafia like chelsea, or america inc., like manu?

theres a lot to be said for remaining a british club, even if your best players are foreigners.

having said that marketing is now an essential skill for raising revenue and there is a lot we could and should be doing to raise our profile at home and overseas.

the latter will only come when we can do a good job in europe, i expect that to be next season, not this one.

so marketing should begin at home. it can include all kinds of activity, both market and community related.

sponsorship is a little different. its important to have a respectable sponsor or else it will affect you marketing negatively. so its not just whoever comes up with the ready cash.

i dont know who we have on the management side that deals with that kind of thing, maybe no-one, but it should be a priority.

It is important to have the right sponsorship for imaging purposes but do you really think that Chang is a good sponsor or Carlsberg?

do you think that having a gambling co. on our shirts is going to stop other investors? I seriously doubt it. I dont think that the companies in Merseyside would objcet ot still having their hordings all around the ground.

Sky would probably latch on to it as well and form some sort of dodgy partnership and the money would flow.

Can't see it being a bad thing - I really cant, i mean West ham got away with 'Jiffy' the condom company.

  6. We're not a global brand,we're not succesful and we have a tit for a chairman thats why we dont attract investment

Not that I EVER disagree with fozzie but...

Portsmouth aren't exactly a global brand either - they haven't even got a proper club shop - tranmere's puts them to shame.

there not in London either...so what's the attraction there?

Why would anybody in their right mind want to buy Aston Villa for example?

Selling the club aside, go back to my original point.

Mansion gaming where reported to be willing to part with around £15m a year to put their name on Man Utd's shirt.

Fucks sake - they can do it on our shirts for £5m and build a casino in the ground and if it means we can buy top players I dont even mind calling it....

    Mansion stadium, Goodison park.

I reckon that Mansion may even pop in an extra few quid just so that we could build a team to finish above the mancs for a classic 'told you so' jibe!

Why oh why is BK not finding these glorious opportunities?!

  7. bit harsh i say...

wright is a good GK and is better than Reina...

I dont think that he is better than Reina - but I do think that he is a good keeper and has a really low level of confidence.

If you actually analyse his game. He is a superb shot stopper and when the ball is driven in he has safe hands but...

he does the simple things all wrong. Like the ball that bounced over his head on Saturday against Charlton. He should never have been that far out - but was.

If he built on his confidence then I think that he could regain his form and be that keeper that he was made out to be.

Its a bit of a David James scenario. He can do it, he just needs to believe in himself a little bit more.

If he goes to another club then so be it - but I think that it will be a mistake. I think that he will turn out good.

  8. mansion - the gaming organisation that practically runs america wanted to invest in the premiership via Man Utd.

but Man Utd were not entirely certain that having a gambling organisation across their shirt was the best idea. So they looked elsewhere and annoyed mansion who pulled the plug on a 5yr deal reportedly worth £75m (£15m a year).

Okay we could not demand that kind of money from anybody but why cant we jump on the bandwagon and offer the Mansion group another route into the premiership?! Say for £5m a year?!?!

Why oh why cant we find an investor?

  9. No No No No!!!!

Liverpool had to play Chelsea in the final for it to go to seventh!!! Whoever plays Liverpool/Chelsea in the FA cup final will get the third (and final) UEFA place whatever the result..

Unless the team that plays the RS int he final have already qualified for Europe!!

So if Boro win the Uefa cup and meet the RS in the final - another UEFA cup spot opens up...

    1st - Cl

    2nd - cl

    3rd - Q cl

4th - Q cl (unless arsenal finish 5ht and win the CL)

    5th - Uefa

    6th - Uefa

7th - maybe uefa spot depending on the teams that win the FA cup etc.

United will qualify for the FA cup - they won the worthington cup thats why 6th place is a uefa spot. ( ithink)

  10. Naysmith is shit - he's much worse than Pistone - at least pistone could read the game...

Naysmith cant pass, cant cross and against Sunderland who are shit, he kept getting caught out and it lead to the cross that lead to Delap's goal.

he is utter shite and i only wish that valente wasn't injured. gutted about that in hind sight!!

This game has disaster written all over it.

Motivational wise - the clubs below and around us didn't do too well last week either so we are stil in the running - bu we need 4 wins from 6 games left imo to finish in the top six...

of those 6 games we have spurs (arse hot on their tails) and chelsea (man u on their tails) - so they have to be the two defeats - if we get done by Charlton we can forget Europe.

However -if man u pick up the game and come within 3 points of chelski, then they may wobble and we will play them at the right time...

    you never know.

My prediction for the charlton game?!? 1-1 lacklustre draw that sees off any european hopes that we might have.

  11. the game brought back memories of the Bucharest game when we needed to score 4, if only we could have done it. i was off my chair for boro doing it so imagine if it had been the blues, i would have been on a high for days. oh well, what could have been. well done boro

Yeah come on Boro and come on Arsenal....keep the English flag flying...

It would be nice for two english clubs to win european competitions this year!

It will also keep Henry in this country and that is good for the prem as it attracts other good players.

  12. In fairness to the healess chicken, when he signed he never professed any love for Everton.

They paid his wages and nothing more,i call it honesty something i prefer and something you don't see very often nowadays.

    Couldn't agree more.

Was never going to be a world beater but was a decent player. Did his job.

Never gave us the bullshit about 'i've always wanted to join a big club like Everton, I have followed them all my life' (like Daniel Agger, Arjen Robben to name a few recent wankers)

And now bent has said that he enjoyed his time at EFC and as a result is a fan...

cant fault him for that - he could have left in a cloud of smoke and burnt his bridges, but he didn't.

Good one - its nice to see!

  13. I think your both 99% on the sentiment but were talking about £20,000 to anything up to £90,000 a week. It's a hell of a lot of money that you can live comfortably off for the rest of your life at the bottom end of the scale. God don't get me started i nearly brought up that twat who left us.

By the way is it me or is it like everybody in the media/world has forgotten he used to actually play for us. It seems like the Mancs get the plaudits for develloping him?

    Forget Shrek - its over.....

In terms of the money - yes its enough to tie them over for the rest of their days - of course it is - but you have to remember that they indulge whilst the money is coming in.

For example - if you earn £20,000 a year now, you probably have a little house and the rest is in a savings account or pissed up the wall. Say in 10 yrs time your working life ends.

Can you still live in your little house, with a little fiesta etc.etc. The answer is no, its nigh on impossible to keep the quality of life you are used to and its extremely difficult to change your lifestyle. thats why we keep on working.

Footballers - they earn £30k a week - its a lot of money - but...they live to the £30k a week lifestyle. So what happens when it stops - they cant live to that life style anymore and they struggle (hard to believe I know).

Look at Mark Ward - he was on £1,300 a week in 1992 - that was A LOT of money back then and he lived the life style!!! but then when he hung up his boots he had nothing and that is the same for many a footballer. So you can not blame them for stock piling as much as they can now...

Irrelevant of the amount of money, the morales and motivations of footballers are no different to those of normal people, working 'harder' for a living.

  14. ........Wright...........

    Hibbo...Weir....Stubbs....ANYONE BUT NAYSMITH

    Osman...Cahill...Neville...Arteta

    ......Beattie.....McFadden.....

PLEASE DO NOT START NAYSMITH - HE IS UTTER SHITE!

    ARTETA HAS TO START!!

  15. EVERY1 AT Everton WAS TALKING OF AN ANFEILD RAID THIS SUMMER!!! REPORTS SUGESSTING KIRKLAND AND TRAOE ARE ON THEIR WAY TO Everton!

MY MATES AT THE MATCH WERE TALKIN BOUT WETHER TO MOVE FOR PONGOLLE OR CISSE WAT DO U THINK??????????? <_<

Pongolle I would have - he is fast and is energetic. (and he can score)

the rest...i wouldn't let them clean my boots!

  16. Yes thats about it me thinks..we gave him away

Yep we gave him away because Bullshit Billy was too proud to admit that he didn't have the expereince to deal with the David Gill's and Man U's of this world.

IT was like a deal that you see in Curry's/comet's shop window.

    Buy now pay later...

24months interest free credit on all young superstars

£99 down and take away in an hour...

    you now DRIP -

who the fuck allows there prized cow to go to another club on a 'buy now pay later-if we feel like it' deal.

and the fuckers didnt even give us the £20m.

They gave us £10m then £6.5m and Phil Neville.

So - since they got Neville for Zilch - Rooney, now worth £40m, cost United £16.5m

Ferdinand was more expensive when West Ham managed to farm him out to Leeds!!!

we have to face it. The club is moving forward but it will never excel at moving forward until we have a ruthless boardroom and somebody bossing the manager and team with experience...

Wyness is okay but there are bigger and better out there.
