  1. Cheers mate... I haven't seen him play before, and wondered whether he was another Nyarko!! Heaven forbid! £8m is definitely alot for us to spend in one hit, and I wonder, if we go for something like this, whether a Moutinho would be out the window, and we would be back to relying on Spud when he gets back. Just wonder if we need something a little more creative. I know there isn't alot of depth the Def mid with Pip and Rods covering, but with AVDM leaving (no loss really) we do need cover and pace out wide.... wasnt there a rumour of another Obinna bid? A midfield of and attack of... Mbia Obinna Arteta Peanut Yak Cahill Wouldn't be so bad?!
  2. Says in The Sun today (and I know they are not that accurate) that we are about to close an £8m deal for him. Bit more than the £6m mentioned above, or the £4m mentioned in previous posts. What do people think? £8m a good price? I have not seen alot of him, but would love to have a big powerful midfielder to bully teams.....Is he that kind of player? Or box to box? Just interested.
  3. I'm sure he is a decent player... but come on.. can we really accept a player that forever will be called ROOOOLLLLAAAANNNDDD like the chubby lad in Grange Hill.... Him and Fanni.... good grief, all we need is that bloke Raphael Shite and we have a right trio! :-)
  4. Read in the paper today that Joey is looking to leave! Frustrated at a lack of starting oppos is the reason, although getting injured and having to earn your place back seems to ring truer. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...n-contract.html Anyone know anything about this? If he did go, what we would expect with only a year left on his contract? Is anyone concerned? I mean we have Rodwell, Lescott and Jags, but not alot beneath that.
  5. Has been ages since a young german player was transfered abroad for a huge fee Well other than that Savio chap who went to West Ham. He is young and German and cost about £9m I think......
  6. I get that Adam, but as how many people mocked Moyes in the past for signing lower league players? Players who had not succeeded elsewhere (Arteta) and so on. I think as others have said that this could be a good signing. I of course reserve the right to retract that statement should it go tits up! I agree, it is a little of a come down from Moutinho etc and for me it does depend on the price. But he knows the prem, has scored alot of goals in it. Thats all I am saying!
  7. Bloody hell, does that mean if we signed Arshavin he is not good enough for Zenit so shouldn't be for us!? We needed players to cover positions we are weak in, when fit he is excellent, and as so many people on here say Moyes can get the best out of players. What is it with the negativity!!!
  8. Very shocked about this. As people have said, no rumours about this. But I am pleased. Been alot of complaints about lack of activity, and I like others have been a little concerned. But I am pleased to see that we can do deals without the world knowing. 3 Players in, All internationals, and covering areas we are a little light in. I think Saha will add a little experience to the line, and provide excellent support to Yak, Vaughny, Cheeby, Lukas and Jose. Depending on the cost (undisclosed again !!! ) I think this could be good business. When fit, he is a very good player.
  9. Everton tracking PSV winger Lazovic Not sure if anyone has heard about this. I have no idea about him as a player, but went for £5m a year or so ago. http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=107481 I know we are in desperate need for Def mid players, and Tiago, Mbia and Moutinho would fill some of that, but a little more creativity would be great and a crosser of the ball would be good. I think the Yak would benefit so much from good service, as per Arteta's cross at the weekend.
  10. A massive no from me. Really good player who can play on the left wing if called apon as well. Given the injuries and lack of numbers we would be shooting ourselves in the foot selling someone who has quality and will get a run sooner rather than later.
  11. Agreed we need Fernandes and a keeper, but if we let Johnson go, with no replacement lined up we have only Yak, Vic (away for the first few weeks) and Vaughny who, lets be honest, hasn't had the best run with injuries. I am happy we turned this down. If it got up to £11m and we got Bent/Milito etc lined up then fine, but we need the numbers, and the options he gives us until then!
  12. Your way off the mark........ £12 million is the asking price, so Everton drop out of the running and look for the cheaper option. £12million, where did that come from!?!!?! One min he is a £2.5m player and then he goes to that. He must be good. Not heard much about him, so can't talk too much. But I this for that money, Mbia and Fernanades would be good, and we might still have about £2m (£4m Mbia and £6m Fernandes). Not sure what others think....?
  13. Lets hope not! This guy seems a good player, but agree so did Nyarko (on paper). But this is Moyes signing him and not Wally, so lets hope this comes off. Big lad, and naturally defensive, so will be a good addition.
  14. Where did you hear that from? I heard he had flown out with the rest of the squad for Pre season?
  15. Says on Skysports News today that we should unveil him as our number 2 today. I hope this means that Moyes is definitely staying. Be odd to appoint someone and then bugger off. But I hope this leads to his contract signing and at least 5 more years of good solid progress!
  16. Ahh well, thats that one out the way! http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...3758671,00.html 5 years with Spurs. Poor lad
  17. Yeah true, but Porto have been kicked out of the Champs league for next year for some cheating or other. So could be interested in joining us. He was linked with us last year and is an excellent player. Would definitely add to us.
  18. Would love to have this guy here. Was excellent for Porto last year and think he would add so much to our team. Wonderful gifted and can do plenty of everything. Read an article on Toffeeweb yesterday about styles of play, and if we want to get it down and play, this guy will definitely help! Def get an offer in there!
  19. I think if we could get Bent and give him a proper run, he would be an excellent addition to our squad. I mean he scored alot with Charlton in the Premier League, and lets be honest, hasn't had much of a run in the Spurs side. If AJ leaves, I think Bent would be an excellent addition. Pace, strength, good engine and work ethic. Would love to see him here. But saying that, if AJ stays, I agree, DF mid and a wide player are definitely priorities for me.
  20. Sorry have to disagree. Admittedly Moyes is cautious with the cash, but when you only have a small budget, isn't that just prudence. He spent big last summer in Baines (£6m for a left back) and Yakubu, £11.25m. They were avaialbe and filled a void. No one knows whether Moyes has anything up his sleeve, and even if all this talk of Arshavin saying he wants to come to us is even true. If he fits the bill and we can afford the price and salary then I am sure Moyes will try and get him. As others have said, have a bit of patience. He hasn't let us down so far. I mean after all the talk of Nugent last year? Would we be all jumping that he was value at £6m now? Have a little faith, and I am sure Moyes has his targets.
  21. Not sure I would say no to a permanent deal, but agree that another loan period like Pienaars would be good. Be good to have him for the full year, get him through our pre season schedule and see what he can offer us then. £6m for a young International is a good price, and as we all know, he has plenty of ability, think he needs a run of games, and fitness as toward the end of last year, he started showing how good he is. Would love him here! Better than what we have there now, so would be an improvement!
  22. Defo have him here, excellent young defender. With him, Jags, Super Joleon and Super Jo, we would have 4 centrebacks of the highest quality. Only downside, is "rotation" and I don't want us to follow the fat Waiters way of doing things. Top player though. Probably one of their best!
  23. I agree. Looks an excellent centre forward, but we have pressing issues around central midfield. But equally importantly around supply to the forwards. No point spending £20m on a centre forward if we only have a couple of players capable of finding him with passes. I think the likes of Diarra and Jaoquin are what we need now to add to the supply line going through to the forwards. Now if the rumours of AJ leaving for £10m + are true, then maybe a centre forward then becomes important, with Vaughny being a bit injury prone (hopefully will get a good run next year) and Vic being our only other two.
  24. And it would appear your Moneu is safe with JD too mate. Official site now says that there is a loop in the rules, which as JD said, "because he has not competed in the same competition for Valencia this season and the Spanish side is not involved in the Uefa Cup at the last 32 stage he can be named as our 25th player in the Uefa list. Well done JD top work fella! And what a great bit of news!!!!
  25. Yeah, I am going to go. Being a London Evertonian, I don't get to see the Blues play regularly, and playing alot Sats as well, I miss the weekend games as well, so this is perfect. Should be a good game. I agree, I think we need to play a strong line up, but this year we are blessed with some good options, especially in attack. I would like to see AJ and Vaughny, with Mcfadden and Yak on the bench. Be great to get a chance to see Lescott play as well if he is selected. Hope they play Dickie in goal. Green is looking really good this year, and is really pushing for an England spot. This it will be a 2-1 or 3-2 AJ, Vaughn and possibly Arteta. Come on you blues, lets get to the Semi's!!!!
