Summer Transfer Window
Paddock replied to duncanmckenzieismagic's topic in General Everton Discussion
Yep that 's about the lot I reckon and exactly why the Lukaku deal is a) stalling because we're trying to wrangle it on the drip and b ) nothing else is happening because it can't until we get it straightened out one way or the other. If there is only that amount to spend then something is seriously wrong. -

Precisely! -
He's a mercenary with a massive ego who causes trouble wherever he goes. Not the type of player we want and would have no sell on value . He said at the end of last season he would be playing for one of the big 5 this year meaning Barca, Madrid, PSG , Juve or Man City he's now Liverpools second choice striker. 85 million? Is that a joke??

His permanent dealings so far don't exactly inspire me to be honest. With the exception of Mcarthey and now Barry. The other 3 are garbage -

He has stated all along about youth development, but he has also stated we need to get 5 or 6 in (or was it 6-7?) but regardless, if 4 of those were going to be youth academy graduates then fine, but say that so the fans aren't so expectant waiting on transfers. If this is the case though the question has to be asked why there is no money for transfers? The likes of West Ham and Sunderland to name but 2 are spending big and again we are scraping around looking for loans and bargain buys. If we do sign plenty then of course what I've just said is irrelevant but if I'm right, then what the fuck is going on. Biggest thing for me is he has said we have identified our targets. So why haven't we got any of them?? And before anyone starts with the "we need to get the best deal possible" stuff, well I'm sure the West Broms , Sunderlands, West Hams etc donas well but it's not stopping them is it. -

I've been saying exactly this for a couple of weeks now. He keeps referring to the youth and developing them this season. I honestly believe there is next to no money and that's partly why the Lukaku deal is stalling because we can't meet Chelseas valuation and also why there is a distinct lack of other transfer activity. We're 2 down on last seasons squad as we stand right now with a much more congested fixture list yet there seems to be no activity at all. We're barely linked with anyone! I think it'll be a marquee signing (bit like when Felliani signed) and maybe this Besic lad and that will be it other than Traore and a winger both on loan. -
The Podolski tweet was from a false account according to reports. Still doesn't mean we're not interested though. .

They don't want to keep him though that's the whole point. We want him but can't afford him, we could if we threw Barkley in the deal but we wont. We can afford so much, they want much more, they were pinning their hopes on Juve or Athletico coming in but that doesn 't seemed to have materialised and no one else will offer as much as we have so it's now at a stalemate/stand off sort of situation. That's what the people close to Chelsea are saying anyway. Apparently he's desperate to stay but they are not interested and want rid so it's a case of who will buckle first. Us by offering more, them to get shut or a reversal on them allowing him to stay coupled with him settling for splinters in his arse on the bench or someone coming in and meeting their valuation. Until something gives nothing is happening. That's what I've just been told anyway

He's not coming is he. It all smelt wrong to me anyway. For starters, I was really surprised with the 18 million tag (Borini for 14 makes it look even more ridiculous) but thought it could raise to /5 with add ons so let that go, then there was him changing his twitter bio, again could mean nothing. Next the sources, "everton aren't we" on twitter, the Daily Mail and another Twitter rumour that the club shop had been preparing Lukaku 10 shirts (all highly dubious to say the least) then there is the lack of reporting from the major news channels. I know ssn aren't exactly the oracle on everything but not a whiff of a report on there (they've now obviously sent the feelers out and reported tonight he's staying put. I know which one I thinks more credible) and then the utter silence from the club, nothing in the Echo (again doesn't mean much but it would surely of picked up something on it) and finally the player himself, he's said nothing, nish, nada. All added together and I stand by what I said this morning, it's all a load of bollocks. Lets just move the fuck on, it's a soap opera we can not afford to be in. One things for sure is that "everton aren 't we" is looking a right tool now isn't he. Part of me thinks he's come home last night after an all day session and thought "fuck it" and plastered that everywhere because he thinks he's coming but hoping his "guess" will come in and earn him the credibility he is obviously craving. I wonder if he woke up around midday and thought "oh fucking hell"

He'll flop there. Never been more certain of anything in my life. He's a mercenary and imo overrated. -
Yep and it's always ALWAYS the same. We never seem to be able to just seal a transfer without there being a drama or it dragging on and on.... He's on holiday at the minute so he'll sign when he gets back, it's the 10 th anniversary of his favourite budgies death this week so he'll sign after his grieving period.. It's never any different. I just don't understand it
-
To be fair, that's never going to be a bad thing is it although as a third choice striker I think he's ok as a squad player. That's about his limit imo.

I hope you're right mate, I'd love him to sign for us it makes perfect sense, he'll shine here and have a big sell on value which is perfect for us. Really really good business by the club and a bit of a coup to boot. Still wont believe it until I see him on the OS holding the new shirt. Remember the Leroy Fer saga, so he would have to actually be holding a pen in his hand signing a contract or I'm taking it with a pinch of salt! Ha ha
-
Yer, I don't think he's ever really proved himself as a 90 minute player, he's always struggled when he's had a good run of starts but coming from the bench he would be brilliant. He's an impact player for me and wouldn't be a 20 goal a season striker which we're crying out for.

If we got a main striker in and him as a bench striker in front of Kone I would.
