  1. He looked as though he was giving himself a hard time a few times in the first half when things didn't come off for him, saw Lukaku trying to gee him up on one of those. Perhaps his mental state isn't what it needs to be for him to play the second half?
  2. I suspect that he'll refer to the fact that Sunderland were (are) fighting for survival and so he expected this to be a very hard game, which would be an accurate and relevant point were it not for the fact that we've been like this for months, against teams that are fighting for nothing.
  3. Really? I'd thought that he looks focused tonight, in fact all do far more so than they have recently. Apart from the defence. Again.
  4. True, comment was more about the absence of the edge that he's always had and that is a big component in his game. He's still busy, but just not as effective or snappy as he was. Like I said though, early yet and he'll hopefully prove me wrong (if I was ever right....)
  5. I've thought similar about Jimmy Mac tonight; seems to be having one of those games where he gives the impression that he's trying to avoid receiving the ball/ contact with opposition players. I'd felt that this may have been due to still coming back from injury earlier in the season but then he had a renaissance briefly of late where he was very nearly his old self in one or two games. Only 20 odd mins in though, so too early to fairly reflect yet.
  6. Spot on. Every time the ball comes into our area we are second to reach it. Niasse doesn't look anything like a premier league player, though is trying, and Cleverley is almost as bad. Does also look like Lukaku has become jaded by it all.
  7. Mike, perhaps Ranieri isn't criticised by us as Everton fans for saying it because we care little about their results or their performance. It's of no relevance to us as such, though I'm sure that most of us would have enjoyed seeing Tottenham win the league far less than Leicester. As for criticism from pundits of that comment from Ranieri then that is also unlikely in view of there being far more positive and newsworthy aspects that they can comment on whereas for Martinez and Everton the same is not the case. Would perhaps be more relevant to investigate whether Leicester fans, at a point in time where they were one win from the title, were annoyed that Ranieri felt the performance more important than the result. I suspect that some were and I know that I would be if I were one of them.
  8. Lukaku's touch has completely deserted him, frustrating as it's been fairly decent in the main this season. He's getting and creating chances though, and is stronger and faster than Blind or Smalling so just a matter of time perhaps.
  9. They only need to look at Klopp sniggering at the fact that even Lucas is taking pot shots at goal against the club that they own to give them the motivation they need to sort this shambles out.
  10. And counting. We are lucky to get away with 4-0, assuming it ends at 4-0
  11. Kind of understand those who look at car crashes as they pass by now (and I've never been one of them and never got why till now) Even though this is making me actually feel sick, I just can't look away.
  12. No centre backs on the pitch now for Everton. Think Roberto has finally thrown the towel in.
  13. Wonder if Moyes fancies an interim job till the end of the season. Could come down from the commentary box now and stick his tracksuit on perhaps. And he's just been referring to Everton as 'we' as well. That's strange considering events since he left.
  14. Not one defender within what must have been 10ft of Sakho. Staggering.
  15. You could see from the foul on Milner, he didn't mean to do it, but he's effectively inside out when he's playing on the left hand side - loses his bearings, not in the right orientation for tackling when tracking back etc. Like you say, no idea why he's done that because Lennon is one of our best defensive attributes when on the right.
  16. When you look at Mr Nivea for Men's face you can see for sure that the lights are on, but there's definitely no one home.
  17. Really need Aaron on the right, the left just isn't suiting him at all.
  18. Wish Ross would have a go at taking on big lumbering CBs like Sakho sometimes, lure him into a foul
  19. ....we're starting to not close down on the edge of the area again. Never ends well.
  20. Not sure that playing on the left suits Lennon, seems to lessen his effectiveness. Might be better switching with Kev. Good intensity tonight, you can see that every one of the players as well as Martinez really get the importance of this match.
  21. Maybe he's got the day off and is having a party because it's his birthday. 26 today. As an aside, his wrist injury didn't seem to stop him being released for and playing for the national team in March
  22. Got a funny feeling that Kone might steal this one back for us, and prove his critics (including me) wrong. If we can get the ball to him that is.
  23. Wow, what a finish! Nice to see Lukaku running up to celebrate with him on the touch line as well.
  24. Ah okay. Didn't see all of the first half but Setanta's stats at half time said 2 attempts, 0 on target (8 and 2 for Southampton)
