  1. Bad today, very bad, and a referee at their place has done us at least a couple of favours. Bizarre.

They didn't play amazing by any stretch but we didnt force them too, its similar to the spurs game away where we have started off the game as if waiting to see how good the opposition are playing before finding our feet, too late again.

Fans will point to Coleman and Schneiderlin being out, but that doesnt explain why Lukaku and especially Barkley played so woefully, Mirallas is made for these types of games yet barely gets a sniff, cant fault Robles today, bad day at the office and we'll do well to keep clear in seventh.

    Poor!

  2. That's why referees must take control of matches to prevent them turning into foul fests, and allow a game of football to break out. Referees have a duty to protect players, if they sent dirty fuckers like Charlie Adam off and made it clear that actions like that would not be tolerated then maybe just maybe we wouldn't have to have this conversation.

The referee and his assistants overlookd/missed the elbow above on Coleman of all people. The potential was there to hurt him enough to take him out of that respective game or even worse....

The incident was overlooked/missed. Cisse was retrospectivly banned.

IIRC Cisse got a three game ban. newcastle won that game 3-2.

Not good enough, at the time I expected an 89th minute straightener from whoever was in prime position to deliver it. The ban did us no good, the result wasn't positive for us.

"So your saying that a" an Everton side should rely on referees to do so much as an adequate job and effectively be punching bags for oppositions???

  3. Good show on the young un, healthy baby and mum, awesome.

Feel mildly guilty passing this on, but not guilty enough to not do it.... watched gogglebox on friday and have been giggling since, turns out it was a hot topic... aren't liberals funny when they get upset that others aren't living exactly how they think they should.... fancy that !

Sorry it's the mirror, could have been the scum, but not fucking likely.

  4. Totally understood maradona reacting like that in that game. He had nearly had his career ended and was facing more of the same awful tackles.

Up arrow in green for spotting an infamous maradona moment, bit esoteric nowadays. Also, you caught the gist of the point about sometimes, the only way to fight fire is with fire.

    sorted, respect due.

  5. So your saying that a Republic of Ireland player should have broken a Wales player leg to as you say "Make it right".

You do know that this game is called football and not MMA right?

You make a valid point that the referee should indeed of sent Bale off for the assault on O'Shea, if he had taken control of the match earlier then arguably some of the heat would have been removed from the game. The standard of refereeing has really declined over the last 3 or 4 years.

What I said was, kick a few in return, not go out to specifically break anything per se, but to even up the score. This facet of football not mma is a part of the game and will continue to be, as the game is played by people and people have emotions and when those emotions are tickled just right they lead to drama....

(I don't want anyone harmed severely or permanently in a football match or anywhere else for that matter, regardless of the injustice in the moment, at the same time I'm not expecting any side to run out as cannon fodder for a game, in some instances mistakes are made, players tire and make bad decisions, some players are nasty pieces of work, accountability is a dirty word in real life and more so in the hyped up pressurised and utterly corrupted world of football)

  6. Quite possibly... Nintendo has been long associated with the 6 to 10 year olds.

The Snes was its last console that seemed to have a foothold with teenage gamers and older... Mario kart and it's ability to beat the mega drive graphically in games like Street fighter 2 gave it an edge. They then spent far too much time on those ridiculously long kiddy adventure games.

The playstation changed the landscape forever.

    My gaming evolution was this:-

    Atari 2600

    Spectrum 48k

    Spectrum 128k

    Sega master system

    Atari ST

    Playstation

    Platstation 2

    Xbox 360/PC

Since then..... not had the time!

    erm....

  7. Heavens this thread got a bit raucous didn't it, no hipster liberals chatting about verbal liquid faeces though. Only earns a nine of of ten there then.

As for Bolasie, hopefully he has enough youth and determination to focus on healing and gets back to where he was. It's a long road and it'll be mentally challenging, hopefully he makes it. Same as with Coleman, take your time and get back fully.

  8. We've been here before, we look at the squad and we have Coleman, Bolasie, and Besic long term injured (I am far from convinced Bez is any closer to even 45 minutes than he was 8 weeks ago)

We suffered a trio of injuries close to one another some years back when Yakubu's achilles popped, and both Jagielka and Arteta were cutdown with the dreaded ACL injury/surgery.

What makes the current situation rather difficult is that Lukaku is making noises about having his mind made up about his future ambitions, and Barkley is getting to the final year of his contract. Baines is struggling to maintain his mid to late 20's form now he's in his early 30's (acknowledgement to his injury and surgery) we've a couple of keepers that perform in a pattern I can only describe as bipolar. We have been very lucky yet again that the youth programme has coughed up a handful of players to flesh out the first team and we have options in the middle of the park, but we now find ourselves extremely lacking in defenders (can't remember the last time I'd thought/said that) and our forwards are almost non existant after Romelu.

There has been some grandstanding about Koeman and his wholesale approach to chopping up and shipping out of players that are excess to his requirements, do he and Walsh have a plan to eclipse last summer because the forecast is suggesting a rebuild on a scale that I am fairly sure in my near 40 years I have never seen Everton go through, in fact could Holgate, Baines, Schneiderlin, Gueye and Davies be all thats left from this season starting next season for us?

    Worrying times ahead.

  9. In retrospect it is a shame Coleman was so honest, that he went for the ball and only the ball is probably why he's ended up so badly off. Bale had kicked at O'Shea about a minute before (if the report I read is accurate) so malicious intent was active onfield, if Coleman see's the player coming and goes in 'hard' and tries to kick his head off then he unlikely gets the injury.

But this is a nutcase scenario, Taylor has tried to crock Coleman for the rest of the game, the challenge was so poor that it's obvious he was looking for player impact so as to slow Coleman down.

So what do we want? Ferguson to go steaming in and break his jaw in 12 places? It'd provide some level of justice I suppose. What should have happened is ROI should have composed themselves and took advantage of the extra man and beaten Wales, that would have hurt the player and the hypocrites that have backed him to the hilt (looking at you Hartson you remedial shit-stain) but this indicates any semblance of being bothered about the international game and its fixtures. I only bother when England are on because it's always a good time watching the FA and its spivs get yet another black eye on the back of England getting a beating. Wankers!

So to Coleman, he's a hard worker, not a loud chap that courts the press, he'll get his head down and focus on recovery, hopefully he has enough youth on his side to heal up fully and get back to marauding down our right flank. I sincerely hope the echo of the break doesn't last in his mind as was alleged regards Barkley all those seasons back.

As for the rest of the ROI players on the field the other night, if they had been so bothered to take things into their own hands, come 89 minutes they should have been queuing to launch Bale into the stands, not only because he had deserved to walk before that, but because if football has taught us anything it is that if you kick one of ours we'll kick one of yours. Two wrongs have always made a right on the pitch, its a lesson as old as the game itself. There'd be a lot more furore if Bale was out for Real Madrid for the rest of the season, and it might just be enough to get refereeing looked at again and fixed/supported with tv replays.

Good luck Seamus, all us blues thoughts and prayers are with you mate, take your time and come back fully.

  10.

He is so much bigger than that. It's funny you mention it. I was looking him up and the info said that height, along with being 142lbs, which is hard to believe. I'm 5'10" and roughly 160lbs. so I see his combo being a little counterintuitive. When you look at photos with him and Barkley celebrating you can see they're roughly the same height. Google tells me Barkley is 6'2". I think DCL's info is just old via Wikipedia or something because he's certainly taller and heavier than those numbers.

I'm excited for his future, he's impressed me thus far. Especially considering he came here in August.

(Sir) Charles Barkley is 6'6'', Ross Barkly is barely 6 foot. Trust me. DCL dosn't look 5'7'', I'll get a second opinion on this.
