  1. Occured to me earlier whilst watching the chelsea game (specifically fabregas) that two seasons on the bounce the previous seasons championship winning side have downed tools and got their manager the sack, mourinho and Ranieri respectively.

Bit of quiet contemplation, I doubt such a set of events has happened before. Modern football, modern footballers.

  2. Whos picking up the pieces? who's looking after sergei's kids whilst he has his legs amputated? when one side loses and decides to go back tooled up to the eye balls for revenge...then what?

I mean, don't get me wrong, theres a business in this, the mma cage fighting phenomenon but for groups, I want state sponsored doping, eye gouging, kicks to the bollocks, pink spandex, the whole shebang. (theres a word for the british idiom/lingo thread) and the festival of violence can be broadcast, sponsored by Obama Trump-care, and steds-r-us, then the follow up tv shows can check the aftermath in the hospitals and surgical theatres. This is an industry, think "Hooligan funerals" and some twat like Jeremy Kyle interviewing a 5 year old orphan asking how he or she feels now alone in the world.

Yep, loads of violence, its just what the world needs even more of.

  3. Tyson Fury tweeted earlier saying he has an announcement coming shortly...

His back's feeling a bit better now so if you want some tarmac on your drive to give him a bell?

All seriousness to one side, Bellew is 34 and holds a cruiser weight world belt, he can hand pick from a bunch of no hopers and bank some easier money and pad out his record. Haye was chronically under prepared, 5 years out then rolling two part time bums over was never enough to regain his former edge, got paid to get beat and sounds like a serious enough injury to now overcome, struggled to catch Bellew who is very much not a quick mover.

Did I post in here Khan's agreed to Pacquiao, so theres another imminent retirement for a so called leading British boxer.

Lots of happy punters out there that lumped a few quid on Bellew and made a few quid. Well done for keeping the faith.

Next up lets see how far Klitschko has sunk compared to his former dizzying heights.

  4. Gueye stood out with his energy (and was rightly lauded for his impact), but since everyone has caught up to his fitness levels he's noticeably a class below. He set the bar high, and is now not living up to them. His closing down hid how bad his positioning is. Has a brain fart most games as well. That said, he's still a useful player, just not as good as I first thought.

Mirallas has the stats and is more consistent than we give him credit for. He's a very dangerous player probs our most clinical. I think people still have a problem with him because of the penalty incident.

Half as clinical as you suggest the past two years would have buried that penalty incident.

Gueye was a one man midfield at Villa, and something similar was initially expected here, we have some extra talent though now and he has to learn to specialise instead of being a one man band covering all he can in midfield. Time breeds trust, and so we go back to the pendulum and count it down.

  5. I thought Barry was stifling Morgan's game today, no room for them both on the pitch together and I know who I prefer.

Against a hard working high pressing in form Spurs side, it was totally the wrong call by the manager. Cant and wont lay it all on Barry, had his throat cut from the sidelines.

That such murder was done seeped into neighbouring midfield positions.

Hopefully the same lesson finally learned.

    FINALLY RONALD.

  6. It's an unwritten rule that keepers should never roll the ball out to the last man in a central position regardless of whether he called for it or not, because if they lose possession there is no cover and normally results in a goal, basic football know how has let us down and Koeman will be furious with him.

Also, theres a high chance Robles kicking played a part because quite simply put yesterdays show for kicking by our keeper was atrocious.

  7. I've never been sold on him but you can't argue that things have improved defensively this season, and he's played in every game (I think?).

I hate to be this guy (Not fucking likely I do !) but could the defence under the previous drunken regime have been any worse?

All said, our defence is a work in transition, if Koeman can get in the players like he has for midfield then I for one will be a very happy chap.

  8. Baines misses Pienaar, it's like Morecambe without Wise. We were spoiled with their interplay, now we have half the duo and expect the same. It's all very unfortunate, and the club should have moved heaven and earth to stop 'arry's meddling back in the day which began the death knell for a left flank that was second to none.

    Sad.

  9. Erm, if he can shift two stone whilst having a 2 month holiday from playing for Utd, retire from england 'duty', have the summer off then sign for free then it's a strong maybe.

He's out of shape, he's played a hell of a lot of games, hasn't looked after himself, and we struggle to cope when sides isolate Barry's lack of mobility. Squeezing another player that is a yard off the pace into our side sounds like suicide to me.

A sustained break whilst keeping the kebab weight off plus restricting other on field exposure might give him a couple more years and allow him to recover some life in his legs. I'm not holding my breath for any of that let alone the lot.

Although it'd be rather a feat to get him for nothing for 12 months then sell for a huge fee to the Chinese league.
