  1. Was the Bojan "promotional" video a joke? He certainly can make a simple square pass
  2. Watched him in the Copa against my local club.He got arm across the face and went down like he'd been hit with a hammer, spent the rest of his time on the pitch complaining to the ref and trotting over to the bench for treatment for what was a red mark on the cheek.I think he is a big talent but, he'll really struggle with the physical nature of the Prem
  3. The great Glen Keely must give him a run for his money.
  4. For a 19 year old Victor showed tonight what he capable of.People have said in this thread he spends too much time on his backside but as shown tonight he only goes over where it matters. When he has a sight of goal he can stay on his feet. No other striker on our books has the all round talent to do what he did tonight.
  5. Good come from behind win for the team that might prove to be our biggest test
  6. Anichebe isn't a good target man? Can you name one on the books who's better? Vaughn isn't lightweight he's fairly strong and puts himself about.True but sadly for him his aggresive style normally lands him on the treatment table.Just look at his fitness record over the last few seasons. Vic has scored 2 goals this season same as Yak.1 more than Aj 2 more than Vaughny. If you count pace, ability to find the net, strength and a good fitness record for me he is the most effective at the club now and maybe in 2 or 3 years he may be mentioned along with Drogba
  7. If you rate him only as good as Heskey now and he's still not 20 that will do me.Never above AJ Tim and Vaughn? with their fitness records only time will tell. I must admit like you I do prefer to watch that type of player, but they are all like highly bred racehorses and spend more time on the treatment table than on the pitch. So for me until Moyse has a head transplant and stops Neville Stubbs and Hibbo hoofing it every chance they get Vics my first choice.
  8. Your quite right Barca/ Manu dont have that type of player but they normaly tend to pass the ball thro midfield and keep the ball to relieve pressure not thump it long as we do.Didn't for a minute compare Vic to Drogba just pointed out that strenghth holding the ball up is important in todays game. And as for your last point I agree the ball in the net is main aim and I would say Vics goals per minutes on the park ratio this season is pretty good.
  9. Come on lets be constructive! AJ with his back to goal just gets overpowered . Mac always turns down a blind alley.Vaugh is just too lightweight.Yak has a poor first touch.Vic is the only striker we have who holds the ball and has the strength to upset defenders,And if you don't think thats one of the key skills of the modern striker you haven't watched Drogba much.
  10. Saw his début v Forest, British record signing, balooned a couple of early chances and looked crap.Settled himself and scored a hatrick in a 4-1 win Strong typical English centre forward never really set the place alight as often as he should.
  11. Best striker? Anichebe by a long way.In the modern game its so important to hold up the ball in forward areas to allow midfield to link up in attacking play or to relieve pressure when your under the cosh.AJ and Vaughn don't do this very well.Mac is poor at it and the Yak....................
  12. Knew a lad Alan Wilson in the 70s played for the Blues (one game for the first team I think) Told us Bernie arrived for training one morning pissed wearing a ripped pullover, black eye carrying a half empty bottle of Ossy Whites. He certainly seemed a colourful character.Anybody know what happened to him after his return to Walsall? Would love to see him doing a guest spot on Sky Sports on Sat sitting next to Charlie Nicholas.
  13. Now all the rumours are over (till Jan) I just wonder how many of all the players we have been linked with over the past month or so did we actually even enquire about never mind bid on.Did we place bids on Koumas? Smith? or were the players we signed the only ones we placed concrete bids for.other than the Fernandes debacle I think we did some of the Prem's best business
  14. For those of a certain age I propose...........ROD BELLFIT
  15. In the fifties and early sixtees the Blues were sometimes refered to as the priests team. And in 65 when i had my first main stand season ticket i sat near to a group of three priests.
  16. Like the rest I called him a right wonker when he missed that sitter. But after a couple of watches on MOTD his overall performance was quite impressive.Did well in the build up to all the goals and defended well from set pieces.Few more games like that may change a few peoples minds about him.
  17. And he thinks the first shot that hit the post was going in?
  18. Couple of penalty shouts? And he forgot to mentions these on MOTD
  19. Was Hansen watching? Taken from his BBC online column Liverpool were a little unlucky at Goodison in that they had a couple of penalty shouts turned down and hit the woodwork twice but their overall performance was not great. What a wa**er!
  20. You're right but hitting the post twice IS bad luck. Wasn't it Shankley who said "hitting the post is the same as hitting the corner flag you get nothing for either of them"
  21. Silly wages Champ L football At least 2 meaningless medals per year = No contest
