  1. The England cap has been released by Charlton after just two seasons in South East London. However, he never settled into life at The Valley and started just nine leagues games under Alan Curbishley. Jeffers, linked with Leeds, is now hoping to tie up his future. "I have finished with Charlton now, they released me after two years which was disappointing because they spent a few quid on me," Jeffers told Sky Sports News. "They never really played me, so yeah I am out of contract and am open to offers." hope the fucker goes to leeds
  2. Chelsea manager Mourinho has held a long-standing interest in the rampaging Brazilian full back, but Real Madrid have previously refused to entertain offers for such a key figure. The policy at the Santiago Bernabeu may change this summer, with reports suggesting Roberto Carlos could be made available for transfer. Mourinho has already signed Michael Ballack and Andrei Shevchenko, both 29, but the capture of Roberto Carlos, 33, would significantly increase the average age of the Stamford Bridge squad. Mourinho, though, claims he is unconcerned by players' ages - preferring to focus on what they bring to the team. "I'm not one of those who looks at identity cards," said Mourinho. "I'm with those who think what's most important about a player is what he does for 90 minutes, regardless if he is 20, 30 or 40 years old. "Roberto is a mature player in fine condition, the best in his position. "It's possible Roberto will sign but I think we have to wait a little longer." There could be major competition for places on the left flank in West London next term, as reports suggest Mourinho is ready to resurrect his interest in Arsenal's Ashley Cole. Cole was a Chelsea target last summer, but remained at Arsenal following the 'tapping-up' scandal. Mourinho is still a fan, though, and is rumoured to be ready to table a £20 million offer. The transfer activity at Stamford Bridge is expected to continue irrespective of whether the two full backs arrive, as Nigerian star John Obi Mikel is being tipped to sign for Chelsea in the next few days. A compensation package is reported to have been thrashed out with Manchester United and this would allow The Blues to complete the capture of the Lyn Oslo man.
  3. Robert Huth's agent is hopeful the player's future will be resolved within the next week: The German international has been told he can leave by champions Chelsea and that has seen a mass scramble for his signature. Everton, Aston Villa and Wigan are widely reported to have had talks with the player's agent Manfred Schulte - but now it is emerging that North East rivals Middlesbrough and Newcastle are also keen to secure his signature. Schulte refused to confirm any of the interested parties - but admitted a deal was close. "He is definitely staying in England and has a number of options," Schulte told skysports.com. "We have had a number of offers come in and I will be going over them with him. "The interest has been huge and in some ways there have been too many offers," he quipped. Schulte denied reports in England that Huth had already decided who he would be signing for. "Robert has not made a decision on his future yet," he added. "As I said we will go over them soon as we want to try and resolve his future before the World Cup finals begin. "It will be better for Robert if he goes into the finals knowing which club he is with
  4. Latics are believed to have agreed a season-long loan deal for the former Coventry City custodian, with the option to buy him at the end of the loan. The player's agent revealed to skysports.com last week that a couple of clubs were chasing Kirkland, but it appears Wigan are on the verge of securing his signature with just a few minor issues to be ironed out. Liverpool are willing to let Kirkland leave as they have Jose Reina, Jerzy Dudek and Scott Carson all ahead of him in the pecking order. Kirkland spent last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, but after a promising early start to his career at The Hawthorns, he picked up an injury which forced him to sit on the sidelines. Wigan have held a long-term interest in Kirkland and tried to sign him last season. Latics boss Paul Jewell is a big fan of Kirkland and sees him as coming in as first choice goalkeeper, if he can prove his fitness. Kirkland is back to full fitness and he is keen to secure a move away from Liverpool so that he can get regular first-team action and try and win his place back in the England squad.

  10. It says this: Defender move mooted Fri, Jun 02 2006 14:03 Arsene Wenger could be forced to admit defeat in his battle to land Everton central defender Joseph Yobo. Wenger has the Nigerian at the top of his summer shopping list but Everton are prepared to offer him a new deal to stay at Goodison Park. Yobo only has a year left to run on his contract and Wenger was hoping that Everton would rather sell than loose him for nothing next summer. Chelsea have also expressed an interest in Yobo who cost Everton £4.5 million when they lured him from Marseille four years ago. But Everton are hoping that he will forget about lucrative moves to London by offering to make him one of the highest paid player in the clubs history. Wenger has made it clear that he wants to bring another central defender to the club with Sol Campbell's future less than assured.
