  1. Bullshit mate, we were robbed by Billy Liar and Manure. We got half of what he was worth, not just to us but to football as a whole. The hottest property in football at the time and he goes for less than £30million? Shit. When you think Chelsea spent £21million on SWP we should have held out for a lot more than we got.

No not good money at all.

I definitely agree we should have gotten more money, you are right. In that statement I meant that the money was good in the sense that we were able to buy some players such as Johnson, Lescott ect to help build a good squad. I would rather have a handful of good players than just him. I don't know much about his sell so I don't know how much more we could have gotten. It would have been nice to get more though.
  2. Robb said.............. ""But anybody who thinks that becasue we are currently sitting in 5th with an outstanding plus 16 goal, over the next couple of year we are going to be compeating as a genuine top 4 challenger is in for a major disapointment.""

    ...........

Rob, thats why i replied to your original Post, So what if we are not classed as one the big Four.

As Liam said lets continue how we are now with regular visits into Europe, maintain a healthy position in the league and maybe, just maybe, after a few years we will be looked at as one of the Big Five.

But basically I'm saying be proud and be happy about who we are, we might have been Cambridge United, or Chesterfield supporters, but thank god we are the Chosen. :)

    Bill.

I totally agree. We are a very successful club. Tons of clubs would love the opportunity to constantly play in the premiership. Year afer year we are competitive and we are putting together a solid squad, maybe even the best outside the top 4. Although it would be nice to have more money the fact of the matter is we don't. Will we soon who knows, but we can't do anything about that. We can only be concerned with the things we have control of. I can see us makng a nice push in UEFA and continue to build from there.

  3. To break the top 4 we would need more investment into the squad in my opinion. The top four are getting even more money to spend. We don't need a huge takeover but enough for Moyes to add quality depth to the squad. Moyes has done a fine job in my opinion with what he has got. Sure he has had some bad buys but he has also added some quality players and is building a good squad. A litle more money into the club would be nice to make a good push for the top 4. With that being said I have been very impressed all year with our defence. Hopefully we can keep up the goal difference as the season comes to an end.

  4. Extending his contract for another year is not a bad move at all. He isn't going to cost much and he is very durable and reliable. You know what you are getting with Cars on the pitch. You would think he would want to sign with the club for another year if we make Europe.

  5. I got a photo on my phone of my daughter with Andy Grey before the Fulham game

She said "Whos he", so I told Andy whata she said and he said "Ye well, what do you expect" (with a bit of a wry smile)

He was really big, 6'2" or so and stocky, always though he was a short arse

Thats awesome. I wouldn't be able to recognize him.
  6. Intertoto is 8th this year (or whoever is the highest finisher below 7th who entered it); 5th-7th are guaranteed UEFA Cup spots. As long as we finish 5, 6, or 7, we'll go straight into September's first round. If we ended up playing Intertoto we'd have to play that first and then (assuming a win) we'd be entered into the second qualifying round of the UEFA Cup in August. So we'd have to go through two steps more to get to the first round than we would if we simply finish 7th or better.
    Thats what I thought :)
