  1. If selling Lescott meant we'd bring in Moutinho I'm all for it...some of you may be forgetting that Rodwell is our CB cover (Pip could do the job as well I reckon).

20 mil for our 2nd best CB is too much to turn down, especially since we have the luxury of having Joey as our 3rd.

  2. What is so wrong with Pienaar winning? If anything, I think some of your behavior shows how underrated he is by the fans.

Week in and week out he was the only midfielder capable of putting in a good cross. Unlike some of our other midgets, he always would track back to make a crucial tackle. He was obviously slowed by injuries at times, but he never once complained.

I for one feel that Pienaar deserves this award -- as we all obviously thought his contributions week in and week out were superb and a large part of our success.

Here is to you Peanuts - this is one Toffee who recognizes how important you were to the team.

  3. Personally I think that he'll end up going to Italy, I think Fiorentina is a decent bet for what I've heard about. He obviously has talent and he has one of the strongest shots in the Premier League, however with our financial position and his probable cost I can't see it being a good business or tactical decision.

Heh, it's funny that you say that because I was thinking the same exact thing regarding Martins. He seems like he'd be a natural fit in Italy.

His wages alone would disqualify him from joining us.

  4. He'll be on a free.. over four years he'll cost around £10m on 50k a week.. He's still a big name.. it all depends on whether Moyes thinks he's worth it. I'd gladly take him.

I agree 100%. Quite honestly we couldn't play a 4-3-3 even if we wanted to. Here is our current group of strikers

    Yak (coming off major injury)

Saha (a good 3rd striker/spot starter...but with injury concerns, shouldn't be relied upon)

Vaughan (I feel bad for the lad but the fact is he can't stay on the pitch)

Anichebe (Don't rate him at all...would be a coup if we could use him to get Ledley)

Baxter (Shouldn't even see the first team squad yet honestly)

Yak/Saha/Vaughan/Owen, while all injury prone, would at least give us some 4-4-2 flexibility. It isn't just about the starters...it's about when the Yak is gassed do we have any quality options on the bench?

Call me nuts, but I think we really missed having a James McFadden type player last year.

  5. On the five previous occasions Everton have won the FA Cup - in 1906, 1933, 1966, 1984 and 1995 - the West Indies cricket team have toured England. West Indies are due to play two Test matches in May .

    Game Set Match :thumbsup_anim: :thumbsup_anim:

I'll go for a 1-0 victory, defense has a brilliant game, Fellaini or Cahill off a corner.

If Neville plays, I guarantee he picks up a yellow. Same for Hibbert.

  6. We certainly do, got a nice response from Lescott last season.

Not over yet though, we should hopefully get a huge response to the Final vote, and there's a couple within range of Pienaar (Fellaini and Baines) who could snatch it at the last moment if they get a high percentage of the vote. Or even...hat-trick from TC and 100 people vote? Could happen :P .

Very true :D If Fellaini does manage to pull it off we will have to have one of our Belgian posters send a French translation along with it!

If Cahill manage to score a hat trick and we win the FA Cup I'll create 99 other accounts to make sure he wins lol :D

  7. osman was brilliant with his two goals, been too long since we saw a performance like that from him.

but for me pienaar was immense again, pantsil (i think it was) didnt get a look in, and must have gone home feeling like a championship player at best.

it looks like pienaar is going to take the TT player of the year award, a shame Jags wont get it, but the numbers dont lie.

I was actually thinking about that, but I think this sort of reaction that I'm sure a lot of us had shows how much we underrate Pienaar. A player who is capable of putting in a quality ball, is always hustling, and dazzles us with his creativity at times. While some may think his flair is just icing on the cake, I honestly think we would've been battling for 7th without him in the lineup this year.

Plus, I do not think there was a better combination than Baines and Pienaar. Terrific passing that puts even the best of defenders in poor positioning, I really hope we are able to see them coming down the left flank for years to come.

Enjoy it Pienaar :D If I remember right, don't we actually send our results to them?

  8. Starting to like Jo as a footballer , and might be a bit of a blow if we lose him .

He really does do a lot more for the team than score goals . I think the jury is now out on him , and Moyes must be getting to sleep a bit later .

Have always stated that I thought Pienaar is the best footballer in our team , and his only downfall was a lack of end result .

Well , he's starting to get an end result now , and thought he was outstanding yet again today . Definitely one of our best performers this season . Our top 4 in my eyes have been Pienaar , Baines , Jags and Mo , with Arteta close behind .

Jacobsen once again looked worthy of a contract , and I hope he stays .

Solid defensive work again today , so starting to feel a bit better about Jags being out .

Let's put our Hull supporters caps on tomorrow and hope they give Villa a hard time of it . :)

Have no worries. I'm sure the Yak will be hungry seeing as he hasn't been fed in awhile :D

  9. From someone who normally just passes by, I like how easy it is to use toffeetalk. Maybe you could make the logo a banner with some action photo shots of current Everton players? More Blues colors?

Not sure if this would get you all in trouble, but maybe a link to all of the goals and a link to all of the sites that stream Everton games?

    Hope this helps.

  10. Villa are shit. They've run out of steam and apart from young barry and friedel they're distinctly average. They'll lose to Liverpool, Manure and us, while we'll beat Pompey and could beat Wigan.

we could get 9 points in the next 3 weeks, while they could get none, and Arsenal have 2 away games...I reckon this could be a very important spell of games for us, 4th isn't as far away as most think.

With our current form, I disagree. 4th is as far away as we think.

We heavily rely on Arteta to give us some quality in passing the ball. Peanuts is decent at it, Osman is average, but there is no one close to Arteta in that regard.

Villa dropping 3 points yesterday was a huge loss for them. Perhaps we could pull out 5th; I'd say the odds are against us even for that.

    Just trying to be realistic.

  11. We did this last year I believe at around this time, so why not give it another go.

Go to the below link and then post your final table results.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/e...tor/default.stm

Going through it quickly I have it as:

    1.) Man Utd 88

    2.) Chelsea 84

    3.) Liverpool 84

    4.) Arsenal 67

    5.) Villa 65

    6.) Everton 64

    7.) Man City 52

    8.) West Ham 52

    9.) Tottenham 48

    10.) Wigan 48

    11.) Fulham 47

    12.) Portsmouth 39

    13.) Bolton 39

    14.) Sunderland 38

    15.) Hull 38

    16.) Blackburn 38

    17.) Middlesborough 36

    18.) Newcastle 35

    19.) Stoke 35

    20.) West Brom 22

I know Newcastle getting relegated isn't likely, but that sure would be a sight :D

  12. I agree, unless we increase our squad size substantially (and with quality) soon, then I'd seriously consider playing the reserves/youngsters in the early rounds of the League Cup as well, I know it may not be a popular opinion but we just don't have the resources to play so many games. As you said, getting knocked out of the UEFA may have been one of the best things to happen to us this season and I wouldn't be devastated if we didn't qualify for next years as I think that will give us more chance of aiming for 4th, which I think is a realistic target should players stay fit and we add one or two more quality players in the Summer.

Jamie, I think it all depends on this weekend, if we beat Stoke and Villa don't beat Tottenham then I think we COULD realistically be above them in 3 games, it's a big ask but it's not impossible. Aston Villa aren't very good, they're a decent team but nothing special, they've fluked a lot of wins and now FINALLY their luck is running out. I just hope we don't get too focused on the cup.

    I disagree 100%.

The fact is, We are not a top 4 team right now. Villa isn't either. Neither squad is deep enough. I WOULD be devastated if we didn't qualify for Europe next year. It means we would have suffered a major collapse to some mediocre teams down the stretch.

The best thing for us is to keep qualifying for Europe, and to do well. It gets the Everton name out there, quality players from different countries (like an Andrei Arshavin) become open to playing for Everton. That is what will grow the squad. Remember what you thought when you heard Bolton were in for Miguel Veloso. If we aren't qualifying for Europe, we are not much better than those thoughts.

What is the point of playing Youngsters in a league cup if we get bounced out the 1st game? When we want to loan out our youngsters, Championship teams aren't calling for them. League 2 sides are. Sure, maybe we should give players like Valente, VDMeyde, Anichebe a go just so they can maintain some decent form in case of injury. Our side lacks the midfield quality to sit out the likes of Arteta, Pienaar and Cahill though.

With our current form, I expect us to only pick up a point on Villa during this 4 game stretch. Arsenal will pass Villa, and we will finish 6th.

  13. I agree about the Wigan game but we should beat Portsmouth they have won one in there last ten games and if we predict a win against Stoke then Portsmouth is a no brainer as stoke are higher in the league and are coming off a good result against Bolton.

    Everton

    Stoke (H)

    Portsmouth (A)

    Wigan (H)

    Villa (A)

    Villa

    Spurs (H)

    Liverpool (A)

    United (A)

    Everton (H)

In the next four games we have the easier run we should get atleast seven points that being a win against Stoke Portsmouth and a draw with Wigan and Villa i will be hpoing for nine points though.

The games Villa have they will be lucky to take four points they will struggle against Spurs more then likely three points they wont get past Liverpool nor United and i would settle for a draw against us.

So if we can pick up nine points and Villa pick up four that puts us on 54 and Villa on 56 we may not leap them but we should be right up their arses.

I am more then happy with our current position considering the shit luck we have been dealt this season and to be honest Arsenal will finish above Villa now that key players are returning from injury so more then likely we will stay in 6th but WE WILL HAVE the FA cup as a consolation prize

With our current form, and their current form, I think we pick up a point over the next 4.

    For Us:

    Stoke (H) W 2-0

    Portsmouth (A) D 0-0

    Wigan (H) D 1-1

    Villa (A) D 1-1

    For Villa:

    Spurs (H) W 3-1

    Liverpool (A) D 1-1

    United (A) L 0-2

    Everton (H) D 1-1

  14. ^^^ Yeah, what he said ^^^ In 3 games against RS, and against Arsenal and United I didnt see much pretty football, but from now till end of season i will be disappointed if we dont play some much better stuff. :)

Not to pile on, but I agree. We try to grind out results against the top 4.

We play solid at the back (In fact, we are almost playing with 2 defensive midfielders now that Arteta has a new role), capitalize on set pieces, and rely on other teams to get sloppy. Teams like Manchester United will always be favorites against this because of their patience, but I'd go as far to say we are the best set piece team in the attacking third.

Now yes, we did play some attractive stuff against Bolton. If you didn't notice though, our ability to finish from open play is actually pretty bad, besides Cahill and the Yak. That game should've easily been 5-0 or 6-0 honestly.
