  1. That's more like fellas. I like the chicken picture. COOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLL!!!! PML
  2. For pity's sake you lot. What is wrong with you? The thread was having a laugh at Rafa's complete lack of thought when his flapper opens up, not about his managerial credentials. Do you all belong to the 'loved up with Benitez' club or what? Yes he is a good manager, but lets face it, as a Blue, I couldn't really give a toss. They could win every trophy under the sun and I would still be laughing at ALL the other managers because of their pathetic 'mind games' and 'wars of words'. It doesn't matter which way you cut it, or what has passed before, Rafa has become a standing joke recently. He has had too much to say, has no real concept that his words are being widely ridiculed and has built a great team of almost achievers with vast swathes of money. This compared to what Moyes has achieved with the limited resources he has had, his dignity in all circumstances and general modesty and measured views on everyone else, Rafa is definitely a figure of fun. If you want to glorify Rafa, start another thread, I am sure it will spark off some interesting comments. The man is a prize COCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. A couple of points: 1 - Learn to spell, were has an 'e' on the end. 2 - Evertonians are generally not deficient in a mental capacity, it is obvious you are a Liverpool supporter, your Username is lfc4life. 3 - Learn to spell again, guaranteed has only 2 eeeeee's. 4 - Only a 'head up the arse' Liverpool fan could suggest it is 'shocking' that Everton were celebrating the away draw as we had won the game. Your emotion should be firstly flattered that a draw against you was considered akin to a victory and secondly, ashamed because a 'smaller' club had convincingly held you to a draw with an already small squad crippled by injuries and playing with no recognised striker. 5- If you're going to go on other fans forums to whine about your absurd views, have a point and be clear. Were you making the point about our 'shocking' attitudes or that you're still in with a shout for the league, or that you thought you were going to beat us on Sunday? You've just ended up sounding like a bitter red looking for a rise. 6 - Guaranteed victory?????? Your going to the Rafa school of football alright, next you'll be on here complaining like Rafa that it is difficult to play against 10 men, and that the ref should give you at least one penalty every game etc. etc.
  4. Yeh, the one in red doesn't have the passion of Cahill ..................................................
  5. You really didn't need to go to a game to know that. So you enjoyed it then???
  6. This guy is a satirists' dream at the moment. He comes up with some corking statements. These are quotes from ONE interview, some funny, some stupid and mostly totally hypocritical:- ""One team was trying to win and the other team was trying not to lose," said Benitez, whose team have drawn five of their last eight games. " Really? I thought the object of the game was not to lose and try to win, kind of the same thing. We are only warming up though. ""We dominated the game, controlled everything but it was just one mistake and they have scored,"" Are Liverpool really SOOOO good that is was their only mistake! I think you were just out thought and out fought Rafa my man. ""We know some teams will do the same thing and defend. We just have to learn to upset them and to attack." " Try and have a go at the manager and the fans, call them names and pull faces, that might work!! ""When you play against the smaller teams at Anfield you know the game will be narrow." " You mean like a subbutteo team or table football? We all usually play on a football pitch and hang on, weren't we at Anfield? Isn't that your ground, I'd have a word with the groundsman Rafa, he might be a blue. ""I have never played like that here, and never did this while I was at Valencia, maybe at Extremadura a few times,"" OOHhhhh, so you mean when you have limited resources and a lack of options, playing this way is justified? Pot kettle? Sauce for the Goose? And my favourite""It is hard against a team with 10 players,"" Really Rafa? I'm sure your board would be pleased to hear that at the moment. You were actually playing against 11 players and the sport is called Football. Maybe you thought it was basketball or figure skating. Yes, possibly figure skating, lots of pretty movement with no real point.
  7. I was reading the BBC Sport website article and was disgusted to read this at the end: Rogan Taylor, from Liverpool fans' group Share Liverpool FC, told BBC Sport ground-sharing as a scheme was now dead in the water. "It's always going to be something that is very difficult to bring about. Apart from the obvious emotive issues - which could be overcome by good stadium designers - there is the problem of the whole idea of the brand." Taylor said the two sets of fans would be unable to co-exist inside one venue. "Back in 1990 this was on the agenda, and it was probably closer then than it is now," he said. "It was not long after Hillsborough and there was more of a common unity within the city - the first scarf on the Shankly Gates after the disaster was a blue one. "It might have been doable then, but the relationship between the two sets of fans has deteriorated since then." My reply is speak for yourself Taylor you utter gobshite. The relationship I have with any Liverpool fan has never changed and it remains in my eyes the healthiest relationship between two sets of fans. So much so that it is still regarded as unique and an example to fans around the world that this is just a game, but with a relationship like we have can pull the sort of solidarity that makes everyone else pale into insignificance. I recall a coming together of the fans not long ago because a little boy was murdered. Mutual respect like that does not just happen for the sake of it. Grow a dick Taylor then grow brain. There is no room for cretins lilke you in the game. While I am at it, the BBC should be ashamed for publishing the comment. Shame on you.
  8. Based on performances early in the season, a long overdue start for Castillo should happen. I personally think he could be the linchpin between midfield and defense that will shore it up. If he plays and has a good game, I think the fact that we are starting to play the ball around midfield and attack with more confidence, we could batter the Hammers. (sorry). I can see a 3or 4-0 to the Blues. I fancy the Yak aor Saha for a hattrick soon and this is a likely game. I don't think it will be 0-0 as both teams are too attacking minded. If West Ham do sit back and defend, we will will come away with a 1-0.
  9. Wouldn't it be poetic, if unlikely, should DIC decide to come in for EFC and LFC goes down the pan with those two numpties form over the pond. Wishful thinking, but not htat unrealistic considering the curretn climate etc.
  10. I would agree with this post. On th face he hasn't looked like the player we hoped. But realistically, he cam in days before the season started, is still learning the language let alone the players and the team and has been involved in some of the hardest games anyone could wish for. The level of competition he has faced must have been daunting and it will be the same against Man Utd, but I took hope from his first half performance. You can see he is starting to understand our movement, where people wil ikely to be and wasn't fazed by Arsenals quality. He did seem to tajke a knock toward the end of the first half and you could say it was coincidence that Arsenal began to dominate in midfield which gave them the upper hand. Until then, Arsenal were rattled, shoddy and didn't look like they knew how to get through us. Felliani gave them a bit of the unkown I think. He has shown flashes of what he is capable of and I believe he will grow in to one of most important players.
  11. Poor example to use Nugent. I agree he is not he man for us. I was merely trying to point out that he would be a better risk than Owen purely based on his wages etc. As you rightly say, they are on a par with regard to their relative plus and minuses, but in comparison for value for money, Nugent would represent better value. I am not suggesting he would be 'good' value. With regard to your comments about Nugents ability in the EPL, I don't think anybody could say with any authority whether he was any good as he has not been given a fair opportunity. This could be because Redknapp on reflection thinks he is crap, and is very likely, but it was a very expensive mistake if he really is that bad.
  12. Replies to your points: 1: Yes he is English, but as far as I am aware, tha vast majority of planet earth plays football and there is plenty to choose from and at present there is no cap on players so a mute point. 2: Understatement, he is well past his best. No doubt he can get a few goal, when he is playing, but so could I. No disrespect to Owen personally, but a young player from our academy or from the lower leagues could fill the job of squad player and make just as valuable contribution with probably less chance of being sidelined. But we could have a number of these players to add to the squad for £100k per week. Surely that would be better. I like your positivity, but I don't believe Owen is worth a punt. Nugent would be a better risk.
  13. I agree taht Owen would be a waste of money. A move to us would only benefit him, stupid money, close to home and wouldn't have to play much because he is not good enough for our first team. I would have took a punt on him when he returned from europe but has been nothing but a sicknote and distinctly average since, completely resting on his laurels. The Erikson/McLaren era has a lot to answer for. It has kep and put players in the the limelight who have no business in an England Squad. I mention this not only because of Owen, but also because Downing has been mentioned. Rated by McLaren, put in the England set up by McLaren, thousabds of brainless twits follow this train of thought and think he is something special. He is an average at best prem player that would be a star in the championship. He shone at 'Boro because they are and always have been shite. We have suffered the same in Owen in that McLaren etc. kept faith with a player that has declined significantly in all aspects of his game, hoping that all these minor injuries were a 'glitch'. This is what happens to players that are brought in to top level footbal too young and relied on. Won't be long until we start to see Rooney suffering the same fate. Give it 4-5 years. Will be languishing in memories of better days when he should be in his prime while other players the same age are peaking. These prodigies are great, but they are usually players who peak early in life and shine above the others around them, they peak and everyone else catches up. Anyway, back on point, Owen, no way, not even if he was half the player he was. We simply do not need a striker. We do need a world class midfielder and possibly a right back. Midfielders, go for Lucho again, possibly Moutinho (although I think he is an expensive gamble) or M'bia. I still like Appiah, despite his injuries and on a free represents good value. Would love to see Lahm at right back. Has been the best RB in Europe for some time imo, and is vastly underated.
  14. To follow on from Mikes post about seeing the negative, having read various articles that include this interview, Moyes has never actually said that he considered leaving. All he has said is that 6 years is a lonf time at a club and wondered whether it was too long. This in itself is very vague and does not lend itself to the psitive or the negative. It is amazing how journalist headlines can influence peoples thoughts. Clever spin. We are a club in unrest and are prime targets for journalistic assasination. Bad news sells. If they can get scapegoats they will, there is nothing like the personal touch to give a story bite. Everyone has their own opinions, but I personally refuse to be influenced by people who make a living by creating unrest and uncertainty when there is none, only to profit by it. I don't doubt that the thought of leaving Everton has entered Moyes head, but if it did, was it serious, sinister and most importantly, was it before the club went in to meltdown over the summer when he was taking a break and before he read the papers and forums and saw what was being said about the club and himself?
  15. Awesome post. I have been getting a bit disillusioned with the extreme bitching about each others opinions rather than just disagreeing and offering a different view. Way to go to point out that everyone on this thread has been focussing on whichever parts support their narrowed view. Days are dark at present, but that means brighter days are coming one way or the other. I personally still think there is much more going on behind the scenes that we are being kept from knowing. I personally think Moyes is the best british manager in the game outside of Ferguson and we should want to keep him here. I agree with Mike that this statement is meant to be read between the lines and is actually quite positive.
  16. Just heard on City that Peanuts will be in the starting 11. I hope so, he is badly needed. I'd play Baines with him and bring on J Lo if he doesn't cut it. Baines has the pace to cope with their right wing and Pienaar will track back also. A lot less will get past.
  17. This thread has now brought up an argument that has been rumbling on for a while. The thread asked whether Moyes is worth £3.4 million a season. Are we talking relatively or realistically? Relatively, the answer has to be yes. Compared to his managerial rivals and equals, he has been relatively poorly paid, as pointed out by several people earlier. He has steered the club to a position where regularly competeing in the top 6 is bringing in revenue we could only dream of 7-8 years ago. He has stabalised the team, providing consistencey and potency (recent form exceoted of course) and the value of the squad has increased dramatically by shrewd transfers as well as dramatically bringing the average age down. Realistically, an increase from £30k per week to £65k per week is obscene. While the average man in the street is struggling to make ends meet, anyone demanding this kind of money for participating in what is effectively a pastime is ridiculous. But this is a moral argument that has gone on for years. Why are nurses, fireman and the armed forces paid so poorly compared to this. Who provides the life enhancing service and puts themselves on the line for others. You could argue this until the cows come home. Well, anyone who thinks this needs to change, you should read Karl Marx and push for communism. But that has unfortunately been shown to fail miserably in the real world. Nice in theory. We live in a capatalist world where the few reap the rewards and everyone else pays. While morally, the wage demand is obviously wrong, you can't blame Moyes for wanting his piece of the pie. Why shouldn't he get the going rate. At the end of the day, he took a career decision to become a manager and has been successful. You could say this was a gamble as the odds of making good money from professional footbal are astronomical, almost on par with winning the lottery. It is a British trait to persecute the successful though, so I guess he has it coming. God help him if we start winning thing and we come to renew his contract again, we'll be baying for blood for having a successful manager.
  18. Fair one. I was never fortunate to watch him play except on the odd highlight or video. Have met him though, shit myself at first because he is huge. Bloody nice fella though. Used to see him in the Pig and Whistle a lot. I bow to superior knowledge and exp on that one, esp. if Ratters says so.
  19. This kind of sums it up for me, we are so confident of winning that we are more interested in whether we will get arrested for going. Personally, if our defense doesn't buck up, they should be arrested. I think the game will swing on our ability to play football. If the same mentality and effort as in recent weeks is visible, I actually expect a rout as our confidence must be on the floor. I don't expect a repeat of last year, but it would be nice and this is definitely the time to raise the game. My biggest concern on this though, is that we haven't been playing weel at all all season. There has been some nice movement and passing, but everyone still looks like they are i pre-season. There is no polish to our performances, there are too many loose balls and posession is given away cheaply, not to mention ouor concentration seems to be for shit at the moment. To be honest, it is now time for Moyes to show how good he is, and pull everyones head out of their arse. To win, nothing fancy, back to basics, simple balls, tight defense and posession. If we can keep hold of the ball, I believe that could unsettle Liege and we may snatch a goal, but they are on fire and a much better side than I think we gave them credit for.
  20. Another point to remember is that he doesn't speak English at the moment, so even though he may be fired up before the game and know hiis job, if things go wrong he will become isolated on the pitch by default. Needs time. Has shown some promise and that's encouraging. Our dilemma is simply because we brought in new face days before the season kicked off and our pre-season seemed to be a bit half cocked. Results were poor and nobody looked fit. We are currently in a hangover and I fear everyhting we worked for last year is going to slip away as happened a couple of years ago. We just don't look like we are gelling at all, the players are saying the right things, but they just don't look the part on the pitch. Fellaini needs time, I can only think of 1 or 2 players that have even looked half the players that they are this season. The bottom line is that it is very easy to scrutinise the new players and apportion the dip in form to them, but you must remember that they have come here to impress certainly initially and the rest of the team and the manager is responsible for helping them adjust into our team. I think we will be fine, but my worry is that it could be end October/November before we start playing well again and I can guarantee the new players will be the ones impressing.
  21. Just been on City 96.7 that the rich fella is talking figures with us. Fingers crossed eh. Who would you want in January if he does come in before then?
  22. I know slightly off topic, but did anyone else see Gerrard have a word with the ref in the first half. It was following a free kick they were awarded and then he got his yellow card out. Back on topic, if this kind of thing is happening, then the refs should ne binned as they are ineffective if they are influenced by the word of certain players. I can bet you a pound to a pinch of salt that most refs are terrified of upsetting certain players and award decisions and cards accordingly, also these players get away with far more than they should when compared to 'normal' players who are playing with their hearts just as much, but get penalised for being rash in big games. I would like to point out that from the moments before Torres first goal, we were definitley the losing side and deserved the result. I am not suggesting we should have won, but I can be quoted in other threads that the rrefs decisions would be pivotal and I was not feeling very confident.
  23. IF anyone was to replace pip, I would take a punt on Yobo. When he has been given the responsibility, he becomes the defender we know he can be and his mistakes seem to dissapear. I like Jags a lot, but it would be way to early for him I think. As a few people have said, definitely one for the future. But I definitely like the catain being a Central Defender. It gives the Captain the best view of the game and the most incentive to rally when the team is under pressure. I still think Ratty was the best Captain we ever had, and I think his role had a lot to do with it. We had a solid defence in those days.
