You have absolutely no idea if we're better suited with Neill coz the fella hasn't played for us yet, so you don't know how he'd fit into our side.
Those long balls were a disgrace though and pissed me right off.
Neill keeps possesion better and supports the mids well. He'd allow us to play more free flowing.
I agree 100%
The only good game Hietinga has had for us was against Stoke when he played CB. He is definitely not a midfielder I thought he was absolutely awful in the first half yesterday
As for Distin I am totally bemused as to why people are having a pop at him. If Jags had have been playing do these people think he would have brought the ball out of defense like a latter day Alan Hansen or hoofed it upfield?
When Piennar and Arteta dont play there is nobody in our midfield who shows for the ball, with the possible exception of Roddrs. That is why we never seem to be able to retain possesion and that is why the CBs are playing long balls upfield
Yesterday distins heavy touch closed down short options to keep possesion. He also lacks intensity when on the ball. Make sure you pay special attention next match mate. Look forward to hearing your views.

Well Im from Liverpool and I thought Cahill was our best midfielder, even if he did miss a sitter.
I think the term best of a bad bunch springs to mind.
I cant understand why we played 2 defensive midfielders at home to Wolves, we were never under any real pressure and so it meant that we were carrying Rodders and Johhny H ( who IMO is definitely not a midfielder anyway), for mot of the game
I thought Bily played some brilliant passes at times but he was also too lightweight and his corners were awful. I thought our defence was solid enough except for the error for thier goal, but then thats Yobo all over, and to be fair Distin should have covered him anyway its basic defending.
So I went for Jo even though he wasnt on the pitch long because at least he was prepared to bring the ball down and run at defenders as he did for the goal
If only more people saw the game like us and not with there favourite player blinkers on. Nice post!

Can you leave us within 3 weeks? Thanks.
Nope I need to talk some sense into you chaps who voted billy as motm after his awful first half and for rodwell who slept through the game. Neal = quality.
he'll probably also understand it's pretty expensive to buy your way out of a contract when you've got no where else to go!!!
He'll get a game soon i'm sure but he's got to earn a place in the team and others have got to lose their place in Moyes eyes for him to get in.
He's taking on Yobo and Distin for centre back or Hibbert and Heitinga at right back and I don't see him taking either position easily.
I'm sure he accepts that he's joinned as cover and will work hard in training to try to earn a place and keep up his fitness.
Neal is better than hibbert and distin. I'm 100% sure he didn't join as cover.
he wont leave, i think he'll understand our defence has been rock solid at the best of times, hibbert is playing good, yobo has been just the same and baines is a regular, when yags is back i think he'll take distin's place
Mate I respect your opinion but our defence isn't solid. We have been lucky not to concede more recently.

Are you serious? No football player in their right mind would leave a club after 3 weeks.
He's had just the one appearance sure, but it was his fault IMO for not finding a club sooner than he did and consequently his fitness levels weren't up on par with the Premier League. I'd say he's a certainty for game time in the next week or two with our hectic schedule.
Neill needs to play before the world cup. Same reason as why heskey may leave villa. No quality player like Neal would stay at a club when not getting time before a cup and when ordinary players are started ahead of him.

Billy had a decent game but was pushed off the ball far too easily at times. Ive gone with Rodwell (so thats 2 of us). OK so hes played better but his composure impresses me, he hardly ever panics and while he didnt do anything flash for me he was solid and was one of our better players v Wolves, although he was playing more of a defensive midfield role so could appear to some to maybe have "gone missing" to those that just have eyes for Cahill. Cahill was alright but thats about all, unless youre Australian then you were probably watching a different game where Cahill was instrumental in everything and shouldve scored 12.
Aussies sometimes have a problem looking at things objectively. At times they remind me of kopites.
EvertonToffees is a prime example.
Mate rodwell probably touched the ball 15 times in the game. And they were all simple passes. Crazy pick!
-
And all without a hint of irony .
Why is it do you suppose that I knew 100% who you'd voted for before I looked at this post ET?
Priceless.
LOL Mike. Not bullshitting. Cahill was MOTM today. Hes playing well. Winning us a lot of ball!
-
If he doesn't get a start im thinking he will leave us. He has to play, considering this is a world cup year (soccer year).
Im wondering whats going on. Our defence looks ordinary and hes not getting a go?
-
I disagree - EVERY time we had the ball in defence or even from throws, VERY rarely did any drop back to collect (which Rodwell is usually effective at) and no-one made themselves available or gave options. This continued until we had 2 up front. It wasnt Heitingas best game but then no-one played well. Distin and Yobo both HAD to hit it long - but at least Distin found a team mate on occasion.
From what i could see when rodwell has been playing well the team have performed and we have done well - when he has not had a great game we have struggled - like today and against Stoke. On one hand its great that the kid can run games for us at his age - on the other its not great that we are seemingly that reliant on him - especially given his age. When Pienaar and Arteta are missing we really have little in the way of creativity hence the long balls.
When rodwell, arteta and Pienaar are playing i think we will be playing the nice flowing, expansive football we have previously seen in flashes...
I just feel distin and heitinga are one dimensional. Distin has a heavy touch to. We are better suited with Neill.
-
And someone voted for rodwell, yet he went missing the entire game?
Thats what i mean. This is a whos your favourite player poll. Everyone knows it.
-
Im not trying to be rude or anything. Billy did play well. But he had an awful first half. Same as Baines. And our defence was atrocious for the entire game.
Cahill won all the headers, set up the goal, should have scored another one but did enough to get MOTM.
-
In response to the original question, two words centre half. And for Distins long balls? if theres not an option in midfield what do you do?
There was options he pounded it long every time
-
Leighton Baines for me!....liked his free kick just at the end.Not his actual shot, but the couple of metres he managed to roll and reach from the position of the foul.Shame it didn't go in......mind you we didn't deserve it
Mate we should change these threads to who is your favourite player?
Baines had a terrible first half. His crosses were way to long all the time.
Billy was soft in the first half, needs to bulk up.
No bullshit Cahill had a good game. Set up the goal. And didn't give possession away. Did i mention he won about three million headers?
So Cahill 1st and Billy 2. Thought that was quite clear. Yakubu 3rd but he wasn't on long enough.
-
Defence has looked crap all night. Wait until everyone votes for the defenders for MOM.
-
No suprises. Wolves have dominated possession. Need neil on. Defence looks shite!
-
Yep.
Billy's passing is jizzworthy at times.
Unbelievable passing by the russian.
-
Im not sure if we are all watching todays game? seems predictable. Long ball
-
We need arteta and jags back asap!
-
Because Hibbert is actually playing pretty well?
Hes playing quite terribly.
-
Sssssh, didn't you know, they're both secretly Australian!
Now you must like them, right?
Mate come on. We can all see these two are just kings of the long balls? And what is Rodwell doing today?
-
Id have to agree -- we'll need more than this.
I can't see why Neill isn't on the field? Our backs currently just pump it long. Heitinga has gone missing.
-
Been watching Heitinga all year. Don't rate him. And whats going on with Distin. 9 long balls, 6 times possession given away in first half. And counting.
-
We are playing crap house. Wolves dominating possession. Heitinga has been awful. Distin gets the ball and pumps it long every single time. Cahill is winning a tonne of ball but Osman has no idea how to run off him. Terrible first half.
-
I only care that Lucas Neill starts. Hes a handy player. We are better with him on the pitch.
-
Hes gone to a much stronger squad. Taken more money which is good for his family. And most of us would have done the same. Take it easy on Lescott.
What Is Heitingas Worth? And Distins Long Balls?

Look guys, we are all everton fans. And everyone is getting defensive. But lets not forget, we are mid table and have had a shite start to the season. So maybe its time for a reality check on how good these guys really are?
