im sure he must work hard on his upper body strength. arteta had to when he came over here, took him a couple of years. and look at cahill, hes only small, but his upper body strength is massive.

 

ive always been suprised osman hasnt improved his upper body, its not like he had pace he would lose form the extra weight.

 

but on baxter, i dont want to see him near the pitch for the first team next season, not unless hes scoring for fun for the reserves. he has a lot of development to do yet

He's 16 years old, if he's been brought in as cover then I'd be very surprised. He'll be playing in our under 18's or reserves at best.

Someone mentions Sheva at 30 moving for big bucks, this fella was AC Milans leading player, he scored many goals not only int he league but the champions league, he was at the time ukraines best asset. Same with Frank Lampard, he has played at the top of the game for years, although we hate him, he is one of chelseas, and englands leading players. Cahill at his age would cost a team no more than 10mil, but moyes obv wouldnt sell for that, but you wouldnt get much more bidding from teams over 10 mil. Hes here for a bit longer anyway, he will probli play his last days in austrailia i think

If we were to get Jo as well, then it would be ok. He wouldn't be a starter for us, but could be an impact player for 20 minutes, which we don't have many of. Would probably see big Vic going out on loan then. I don't know whether or not Owen signing would be an indication of our rise, his fall, or a combination of both, seeing as he wasn't at all interested in signing for us in 2005.

thats a very good point mate, i think it has to be both, we have obviously improved over the last couple of years, and have evolved into a solid (at this moment in time) top 6 club, whereas owens career has stalled in a big way, he now finds himself out of contract from a club thats just been relegated, when if you look back a few years ago, he was at madrid, didnt always play, but the fact remains he was at madrid. So in answer to well pointed question, i would say both.

Past the Carsley era? I would KILL to have a defensive midfielder of Carsley's quality (in his prime) in the team. Carsley was probably one of the best defensive midfielders in the history of the premier league, only players Makalele and Keane had more of an impact in their teams.

I will also be disapointed in lescott if he leaves, we need to start keeping our main assets, moyes has come out an said in recent weeks, that we don't have to sell, so stick with the plan and don't sell.
