  1. Sorry don't agree, you need to look more at the whole picture, the way Everton player, and Beattie's role upfront. Just becasue he is a striker, he is not just in the team to score goal.

Moyes has bought him to get his fair share of goals - and as our top scorer you have to say his doing this.

There are striker out there whos main purpose is to score goals, and can pretty much do little else all game. Beattie is not that type of striker he holds the ball up well and make chances for surporting midfeilders, so to this end he will get less of the chances as he is involved in other parts of the play. You can't be in two places at once.

So saying he is paid to score goals is slightly naive.

Agree with Rob here plus he has score 40% of our goals this season which isnt bad its not as if we as team are scoring a shed load of goals, tho beattie has contributed to this with some misses

  2. Im in two minds on this one as agree with parts of both arguements.

I would say yes to this tho, look at the teams likely to play against they are not of high quality in the first stages as we would be seeded? so rest the likes of Cahill etc, but how many of our players will get a decent run in the world cup anyway? Cahill? thats about it.

You need to weigh up what is more benificial to the players semi - competitive football at the start or friendlies against Chester and Southport?

Then if we get through upon last seasons experience we should fair much better and would we be seeded given we had europe last year?

Then their is the player aspect would we be able to attract better players in with European football on offer?

It is all ifs and buts but it is a gamble I would take.

  3. Emre and Paker can mix it up Rob, so disagree with what you are saying about not liking to play the likes of Everton. Given they like to think they play attractive football but I think that they can battle aswell.

We need to test their centre halves as they are rubbish.

  4. Agree and disagree, he is doing what bent done last season and perhaps more in his work rate and you cant faulter him for that he gives 110% each game, which is what we want.

Our expectation levels are higher given he is our record signing and he does miss some of the easier chances that come his way, I dont think we can argue with that. He shows great link up play and the midfielders score more from him (how many assists has he got this season) but he also breaks up play and pressurises opposition defenders must be frightening to see his man boobs coming towards you at full spead.

Current strike Ratio will provide 15 goals a season which IMO is good considering:

    He is playing alone upfront

When was the last time one of our strikers score 10+ in a season

The work rate he puts in for the team

We just need a more clinical striker like the ones mentions above to play along side him and then we will see the benifits of Beattie, I for one am happy we signed him and am glad he is proving his critics wrong and im sure before he ends his Everton career Fozzie will say he is good aswell!

  5. Bad time to play them big wow they have won two on the run, who is top the form charts and only team unbeaten in the league 06?

Yobo back aswell he may play him in Nevilles role with farrari at right back? Bit to soon for Carsley I think as its a big match and their midfield is solid with Parker and Emre playing their.

Happy with 1 - 0 to us and a Beattie 30 yarder just for ZED

  6. I agree his work rate is second to none and his recent performances have made him one of our players of the season.

Defo need an AJ along side him or hopefully a Keane or Defoe.

Still needs to work on his finishing, he has missed a couple of easy ones this season. Wouldnt mind a couple of those 30 yarders he is famous for either ZED especially in front of the Kop!

  7. I for one think Moyes has moved us forward no end, this is the best squad we have had in years, we are better off financially than when the Prem started, the average age of the team is the lowest in years.

I dont agree with people who slag off Moyes would you prefer to go back to the days of Walter Smith?.

Given he didnt improve the squad in Jan, but he could have done what previous managers have done and brought in Backoftheecho, Amo etc and would we be better off??
