I read about the ban and its timing on Everton as well. I agree things might have been different. I dont watch baseball, but the MLB strike in 94 cost Montreal their team. They were almost the best in MLB that year, and after it returned, they were destroyed and ended up leaving to Washington DC. Many bitter people up in Montreal about that even to this day.

I've read up some on Everton's history: one of the original Football League founders, almost always in the top flight, numerous trophies, Liverpool split into its own club off Everton. How did Liverpool become the more followed club over the years? I've even read Pete Best' comments the Beatles were Everton supporters.

Hopefully the rivalry incentive to beat the Reds can carry us through w/o Fellaini.

I think Beckford's goal not counting was why they gave that penalty. This match for me was one of the best I've seen so far this season overall. A couple of bonehead moves by Howard, but nobody's perfect. I've seen Cech and Van Der Saar make them too.

Hello from Indianapolis, Indiana! I've been watching football again since 2009, the first time it's been back on tv in this area in several years. I have a built-in dislike for big clubs that constantly throw money at players, so I developed an intense disliking for the top clubs in England right off: Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and now Man City. I read the history of English football and how it spread all over the world. When I discovered Everton were also from Liverpool and a main rival to the "other" Liverpool, that was enough to start me off as a fan!
