I seriously don't know about Billy. I mean he's got nearly everything in his locker it's just that he hardly ever shows it. He can work hard when it matters, decent first touch, a cracking shot but his mind starts to wander and then he becomes so bloody infuriating. Me thinks were flogging a dead horse here.
Personally, I always been a fan of Billy. I'm also a sucker for wonder strikes. If he can get his work rate up then he could be the answer for the left. Only time can tell...
To stay on subject...a big NO to Mickey Fads. Save the salary space -- we could use it later down the road.

Hmmm... none in the EPL... have to say that I admire the players that Lyon have... I don't follow Ligue 1 very closely though. I will say that I have a soft spot for any clubs that have American players in Europe.

That's interesting, i thought the NFL draft system seemed to be one of the most intelligent ways of deciding where the cream of the young players end up? Am i right in thinking that no team has ever won the 'Superbowl' more than two times in a row? It seems to me it's as much of a level playing field as you can get.
Yeah, for the most part, it is a great way to level out the playing feild, and we do the same for our domestic league(MLS). Only problem is that it hurts if you have to play teams from other nations who don't have a salary cap and can spend wildly like certain teams in the Premier League or La Liga... If they were forced to share the best "draft" picks and had a salary cap, then the Premier League would be very competitive and exhibit a lot more parity. Not sure how you would tweak it for the relegated/promoted teams though (also a trait of european leagues that is non-existent in MLS).
Luckily, the NFL doesn't have any competitors outside of the U.S. so the salary cap and draft are a way to encourage parity in the league and really keeps the league interesting every year, because each team has a chance to win the "Super Bowl" every few years.
Part of the reason I support foreign leagues rather than the domestic league is because of the salary cap and the potential for European trophies. It's just more interesting seeing teams all over Europe compete against each other.
Because of the cap in the U.S., the MLS will never be able to afford a Ronaldo or Messi-esque player... until they are way past their playing prime like T. Henry and Beckham.
Getting every one in Europe to agree to a world-wide salary cap would definitely be wild, but the leagues in Brazil and Argentina would probably rule the planet since they generally have the best homegrown talent. Then again, tactics are a major concern as well.
Sorry about the rant... just a little aside!

Trezeguet eyes France return :
I know hes 33 but I would still like to have him here. I know the article says he wants to go home to France but surely we could steal him for a season or 2? Thoughts?
If he's free and accepts low wages... have some good footage of him in my head at Juventus.
If the Afellay rumor for 4 mil is true...now that would be a steal.

If we had wanted to make money on him we'd have snapped him up on a free when he left Reading - decent Championship striker... he's not Prem class - FACT!!!
Hard to argue against that statement. touche!

Are you suggesting Jagielka would move to Wigan?
Never said he'd want to, hence, the "maybe" in the sentence.

Being from America, the heat is killer here. When we play pick-up it's usually around 8:30 or 9 so we can avoid the heat. The humidity is the real killer.

It think we should keep Rodwell
I believe he will come good and when he does....
Imagine this:
-----Barkley------
Fellaini-Rodwell--
I don't know about you, but I like the look of it
Would definitely love to keep Rodwell if he can reach his expected potential. Watching him hit bombs would be a treat every other week. However, I can see how it would be hard to turn down the potential 30 million the rest of you keep talking about... nearly impossible. Fellaini worries me with injuries though. He's class when fully fit, but he seemed to be a blur to me last season. Barkley is still youn but looks to have a good future in the midfeild. All I can think about though is the lack of quality on the left and up top -- here's to hoping our strikers hit form this season.

I rate Barkley highly. He still young, but it's hard to think that DM won't play him in a few matches as a late-sub. He seems to have good vision and passing(for the most part).

Honestly I can't see how we could refuse an offer of about £17 million. We clearly are in need of money. If we can get that much we could use 10 mil to get N'Zogbia in and the rest to pay off debt. So we'd strengthen a position where we really need reinforcements. And to be honest I don't think we'd really lose quality in central defense. To be even more honest I'd think we might even improve with a Distin-Heitinga partnership. We'd still have Yobo, Duffy and Mustafi as back up. And Rodwell could play there as well if needed. Of course, we could hold out for even more money, but I don't think we'll get much more and they could just turn to Gary Cahill.
I'd hate to see Jags leave--however, maybe a deal with Wigan for N'Zogbia would work out somehow. We have some depth at CB, but we have NO ONE on the left. We can't rely on the potential of Gueye alone. I think he'll be a great player, but he's still far from ready to start every game--then again, IDK, maybe he can prove me wrong.

Looks good as an investment... buy to sell at a higher price later. Best case scenario is that he reaches the potential he was thought to have, and he works in the team, or we make make money on him through a sell. Honestly, all you hear about is how much money Everton doesn't have.

The 3-5-2 would definitely utilize the best players on the squad, but I have to say that I agree it would work more like a 5-3-2 than 3-5-2 given Baines and Coleman's tendencies to attack. DM said he'd like to see Coleman back at RB this season--also noted that he needed to work on his defending though.
I like seeing Cahill in the hole behind the striker... so maybe a 5-3-1-1(3-5-1-1)??? Haha...Basically a six man midfield. Yep, definitely depends on mentality.

Would love to see Sturridge play for the Toffees. He's class! Can't see him turning away Bolton if he's given the opportunity though. They fell in love with him last season.
-
I think Becks will step it up this season. He had limited minutes last season, and that may be the case this season if the Yak and Saha are fully fit... but Becks was clutch, scoring some crucial goals. I believe he is responsible for the firing of Ancelloti last season after that great run from midfeild to score in the last game.

Yeah, finding an EFC kit in the USA is impossible -- Gotta order everything online here.
-
Nice to see another American! Football doesn't get a lot of publicity in the USA, but it's really been starting to pick up over the last few years with the World Cup and all -- Not a fan of our domestic league though it has been improving.
-
Definitely not a bendtner fan... He can score goals, occasionally, but I think Everton can do much better.

Not for ten...One successful season (in the championship) isn't enough to make him worth ten IMO. I'd think five might be worth it, but we don't any money anyway.
