  1. He would kill it in Italy. I think he's one of our better players, and he is still young. Every time I've watched him play for Belgium he has done a tremendous job, too. I agree that he should at least be tied down to a long contract so we can figure out his true worth... unless we get a miraculous 25-30 mil transfer bid, then he should definitely be sold. Moyes could bring in 3 decent players with that.

  2. 0 – The amount of players Everton have in the EA Index for top 100 players in division.

1174 – Average reduction in attendance at home games

1 - Clean Sheet this season – Joint Lowest in league

100 – On average the number of fewer passes made per game than this stage last season

These stuck out to me the most. The last one is intriguing, but at the same time, we're in the same position as last year at this time in the season. Room for optimism?

  3. From the BBC preview

In days of olde, King John's rich noblemen used to ride through Sherwood Forest petrified that they would be robbed and humbled by a shadowy figure clad in green - the champion of the poor - none other than Robin Hood.

These days, football's moneyed elite tread with equal trepidation as they fear a good old gubbing from those infamous merry men dressed in blue - Everton!

There's nothing proud Evertonians would love more than to rob the rich and leaving them squealing like Maid Marian.

Not only do Everton have a better recent record than any other Premier League club against money-bags Chelsea - they are also well accustomed to stuffing mega-bucks Manchester City, who should be wary going into Saturday's early kick-off.

So, test your football knowledge with these six brain teasers - answers below!

Q1: Who was the last team to score a home win against Manchester City?

Q2: Who was the last team to score an away win against Manchester City?

Q3: Who were the only side to do the double over City last season? Here's a clue - they did it the season before as well.

Q4: Which side has won all of their last four visits to Eastlands?

Q5: Which side has won seven of their last eight games against Manchester City?

Q6: Who is 5-2 ON to win Saturday's game?

    Answers: Q1 - Everton. Q2 - Everton. Q3 - Everton. Q4 - Everton. Q5 - Everton. Q6 - Man City.

This just gave me chills. COYB. I'm still expecting a draw, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it 1-0 our way either.

  4. Not to excuse the abysmal performance of the players, but this was really on Moyes: poor team selection, poor subsitutions, poor tactics, poor attitude. Happened too many times now, especially at the start of the season. We really need to start again with someone else - this is a really stale marriage.

Yep, WTF. I just had a feeling that would be the result. Fucking pissed. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE SQUAD SELECTION AT ALL.

  5. the positions can not be irrelevant in a counter attack, your players position in the formation should also dictate their position on the pitch when a counter happens.

to look back at the counter attack on the vid above, its from a corner. our full backs man the posts from a corner, if they were to get on the counter they have the furthest to travel. your forwards, wingers are normally slightly further out, unless you have a mountain of a forward back defending, so they are closer to the break.

look at the best counters and you will see not many defenders, mostly forwards and wingers.

from your theory of the quickest players leading the counter, what if yobo plays, do you want him to come bombing from a centre back positon to run past his whole team? if it was possible with the players we have then it would happen more, but it doesnt. hence why we were more effective when donovan came over here, arsenal away in his debut, him and pienaar pushed the counter from the wings.

The US national team's only real strategy was the counter-attack before Klinnsman, hence why Donovan added to that aspect of Everton's strategy.

  6. One thing I'll have to say about Donovan is that MLS would probably keep Donovan from going through. LA wouldn't be the ones to accept any transfer offers; the MLS is consider one entity, thus, all the teams are grouped together as one team, and the MLS has the final say on all transfers of players leaving the MLS. MLS gets 33 percent of the transfer fund for any player. Yeah, it's pretty crazy. When we sold Altidore to Villareal the fee was around 12 mil. At the time, Altidore was a young player who hadn't really established himself, so given the popularity of Donovan here I'd say it would be hard for the MLS to let him go for less than 9-10 mil ( only slightly cheaper than Altidore because of his age). He sells shirts and is considered the one of the best players for the league.

  7. I would love to see him back at Everton; however, I am biased, because I am an American. He's a really big deal over here and has won the MLS MVP like 6 or 7 times.

Having said that, I'd have to say that he is getting older... his pace could be decreasing... You guys should look up Brek Shea though... 21 year old American left winger. He's been brilliant as of late, and he's about 6'3" so he's got some strength to him. He'd be a good prospect for the future I think. He currently starts for FC Dallas and has scored about 10 goals this season so far... on the other hand, the American league doesn't match the PL in reputation.
